Abstract

A display apparatus adapted to display characters in superscipt and subscript on a screen. A character generator stores a character font corresponding to superscript and subscript and excluding insignificant blank data. The character generator is switchable by a logic circuit between an enable state and a disable state. The logic circuit produces an enable signal, for example, by deriving a logical product conjunction of a most significant digit signal of a register for counting the number of rasters corresponding to one normal size character, a superscript select signal and a subscript enable signal.
