Definitions
- the present invention is based on an electrical apparatus according to the first part of claim 1 and on a method for its production.
- the invention seeks to remedy this.
- the invention as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a generic electrical apparatus in which the core and winding are embedded directly and without cracks in a plastic molding material and to provide a method for its production.
- the advantage of the invention is the fact that time-consuming manual work can be saved. Furthermore, the intimate contact between the core and the plastic molding and between the winding and the plastic molding allows good heat dissipation and thus better utilization of the materials used and a more economical design of the electrical apparatus.
- the manufacturing process is simple and, in addition to the usual equipment for casting cast resins under vacuum, does not require any additional auxiliary equipment.
- a current transformer is shown as it can be used in medium-voltage networks.
- a primary winding 2 with several turns of flat copper is embedded in a plastic molding material 1.
- the primary winding 2 is partially surrounded by a core arrangement 3.
- This core arrangement 3 can consist of several magnetic cores next to one another or, as shown, of a core. Each of these cores or the one core is surrounded by secondary windings, which are not shown.
- the ends of the secondary windings can be connected to ends of further measuring lines.
- Each end of the primary winding 2 is connected to a connection fitting 4 which is embedded in the plastic molding 1 and which carries a connection bolt 5.
- the primary winding 2 and the core arrangement 3 are embedded in the plastic molding material 1 without gaps.
- the plastic molding material 1 is constructed in such a way that it has an adapted coefficient of expansion which lies between the coefficient of expansion of the material of the primary winding 2 and that of the core arrangement 3. The three coefficients of expansion are therefore comparatively close to one another, so that no internal stresses leading to cracks can occur in this current transformer during heating cycles.
- insulating fillers are embedded in the plastic molding material 1 in order to obtain the adjusted expansion coefficient.
- These fillers are predominantly in the form of granules and also contain a mixture of spherical bodies and a further, partially fibrous component.
- the granulate is formed from quartz material and the partially fibrous component from wollastonite.
- the spherical bodies are made of E-glass and have a particle size partially overlapping with this particle size of the granulate made of quartz material.

- FIG. 2 shows a choke with a two-part magnetic core arrangement 3.
- a leg 7 surrounds one leg of the core arrangement 3, the winding 7 and a part of the core arrangement 3 being embedded together in a plastic molding material 1 without gaps.
- Each end of the winding 7 is connected to a connection fitting 4 carried by the plastic molding material 1, each with a bore 8, which can be used to connect power supplies.
- the core arrangement 3 has a gap 9, which can be designed as an air gap or filled with the plastic molding material 1. Parts that mechanically support and support the throttle are not shown; a plate 10 indicates these elements.
- Such chokes can be designed in a wide variety of ways, for example, other areas of the core arrangement 3 can also be wound, furthermore they can also have disk-shaped or multi-layer windings 7.

- This molding compound is introduced into the casting mold according to the usual vacuum casting process and there it encloses the winding and core.
- the molding compound used here with over 75% fillers is surprisingly pourable and can be processed normally.
- the granules and the spherical bodies are mixed, heated and predried in a mixing system.
- the particle size of the largest spherical bodies is larger than the particle size of the smallest parts of the granules, but the majority of the spherical bodies have a smaller particle size than the granules.
- the casting resin used for the molding composition comes from one of the groups of the anhydride-hardened epoxy resins, the unsaturated polyester resins, the acrylic resins or the polyurethane resins. For electrical apparatuses which are used under open-air conditions, however, only aromatic-free casting resins and hardeners are expediently provided.
- the filler wollastonite can already be mixed with the casting resin and the hardener and introduced into the mixing plant and mixed there with the other fillers to form the molding compound, but it can also be introduced separately.

- the high filler content generally results in a certain reduction in the strength of the plastic molding material, which can be advantageously compensated for here by using wollastonite.
Abstract
Description
The present invention is based on an electrical apparatus according to the first part of
Electrical devices with magnetic cores, which are surrounded by a winding formed from electrically conductive material, cannot be embedded in a plastic molding material without cracking using conventional casting resin molding materials. The reason for this lies in the very different expansion coefficients of the core and winding material on the one hand and the plastic molding material on the other. It is therefore customary to apply compressible padding to the magnetic core, which can absorb internal stresses as a result of the reaction and cooling shrinkage of the cast resin molding materials and thus prevent cracking. With a throttle, however, the comparatively high loss heat of the iron core can be dissipated. The padding of the iron core would severely hinder the dissipation of the heat loss in this case. For chokes, this complex design is only suitable for comparatively small sizes and unit outputs. This design is also uneconomical for converters because of the extensive manual work required.
Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a generic electrical apparatus in which the core and winding are embedded directly and without cracks in a plastic molding material and to provide a method for its production.
The advantage of the invention is the fact that time-consuming manual work can be saved. Furthermore, the intimate contact between the core and the plastic molding and between the winding and the plastic molding allows good heat dissipation and thus better utilization of the materials used and a more economical design of the electrical apparatus. The manufacturing process is simple and, in addition to the usual equipment for casting cast resins under vacuum, does not require any additional auxiliary equipment.
The further developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of drawings which illustrate only one embodiment.
- 1 shows a first embodiment of an electrical apparatus according to the invention, and

In both figures, parts with the same effect are provided with the same reference symbols.
In Figure 1, a current transformer is shown as it can be used in medium-voltage networks. A
More than 75 percent by weight of inorganic, insulating fillers are embedded in the
When manufacturing this electrical apparatus, the winding and the core are first carefully degreased, placed in a casting mold and fixed in this. A pourable molding compound is mixed from the fillers and casting resin in a ratio of about 4: 1. This molding compound is introduced into the casting mold according to the usual vacuum casting process and there it encloses the winding and core. The molding compound used here with over 75% fillers is surprisingly pourable and can be processed normally.
Before the molding compound is mixed, the granules and the spherical bodies are mixed, heated and predried in a mixing system. The particle size of the largest spherical bodies is larger than the particle size of the smallest parts of the granules, but the majority of the spherical bodies have a smaller particle size than the granules. The casting resin used for the molding composition comes from one of the groups of the anhydride-hardened epoxy resins, the unsaturated polyester resins, the acrylic resins or the polyurethane resins. For electrical apparatuses which are used under open-air conditions, however, only aromatic-free casting resins and hardeners are expediently provided. The filler wollastonite can already be mixed with the casting resin and the hardener and introduced into the mixing plant and mixed there with the other fillers to form the molding compound, but it can also be introduced separately. During the entire mixing process of the molding compound, the mixing system is subjected to negative pressure and the molding compound is continuously degassed. In addition, the molding compound is warmed up.
The casting mold is also preheated and charged with the heated molding compound under negative pressure. The molding compound is in the mold for several hours subjected to continuous gelling at elevated temperature and solidifies to the plastic molding material. This plastic molding encloses the winding and the core without gaps. After the electrical apparatus has been removed from the casting mold, this plastic molding material is cured for several hours at elevated temperature.
The molding compound is mixed from the following components:
43 to 52 MT epoxy resin,
36 to 44 MT hardener,
0.1 MT accelerator
50 to 80 MT quartz with a particle size of 0.355 to 2.0 mm,
40 to 60 MT quartz with a particle size of 0.25 to 0.71 mm,
20 to 30 MT quartz with a particle size of 0.125 to 0.355 mm,
40 to 60 MT spherical bodies made of E-glass with a particle size of 0.075 to 0.15 mm, and
55 to 65 MT wollastonite.
The fillers can also be processed with an adhesion promoter, which is particularly advantageous in outdoor applications. The molding compound is mixed at a temperature of 50 to 60 ° C, and the negative pressure can be 100 to 1000 Pascal. The casting mold, which is equipped with windings and cores, is preheated to 80 ° C and then filled with the heated molding compound under a vacuum of 100 to 1000 Pascals. The gelling process takes place at 80 ° C and lasts several hours, so that the shrinkage stresses can advantageously be kept low. Post-curing is carried out in the temperature range from 130 to 140 ° C.
The plastic molding material produced in this way has an expansion coefficient of 15.5 × 0⁻⁶ K⁻¹. The core has an expansion coefficient of about 12 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻⁶ and the winding, for example made of copper, one of 17 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹. The difference in the expansion coefficients between the plastic molding material and the parts embedded in it without gap is therefore only slight, so that only slight internal stresses can occur in the event of temperature fluctuations. This ensures that no cracks can occur in the plastic molding material. Furthermore, no signs of detachment and gaps between the plastic molding material and the parts embedded in it can occur. Thanks to the intimate connection, heating losses from the core and from the winding can be dissipated directly via the plastic molding material, which enables better cooling of the electrical apparatus.
Thanks to its partially fibrous structure, the filler wollastonite leads to a plastic molding material with higher strength than can be achieved by using granular fillers alone. The high filler content generally results in a certain reduction in the strength of the plastic molding material, which can be advantageously compensated for here by using wollastonite.
