Abstract

Sectional overhead garage door for low lintel heights, with the door leaf members of which, except for the one that is uppermost in the closed position, being guided in guide rails having a vertical, an arcuate, and a horizontal section, and with rollers of the uppermost door leaf member being guided in two guide rails, extending with an approximately horizontal section above and in parallel to the approximately horizontal primary guide section provided on the same side, and each of these being connected to an intermediate guide member adapted to be lowered from the horizontal in the direction of the upper frame zone, so that the uppermost door leaf member, when the door leaf is transferred into the closed position, passes into the plane of the closed door leaf along a shorter path than the remaining door leaf members. The arrangement of the intermediate guide member for the rollers of the uppermost door leaf member is such that a weight balancing shaft, torsion springs, and the rollers can be attached at a lower level. This is achieved by providing the intermediate guide member for the rollers of the uppermost door leaf member as well as the torsion shaft bearing at special bearing brackets in the two upper corner zones of the door frame, and fashioning the intermediate guide members with a linear zone between end sections that are of a curved and, respectively, angled configuration.

Description

The invention relates to a ceiling link gate or a guide intermediate piece of the guide for the rollers provided in the upper corner regions of the top door leaf link in the closed position.

US-A 4 119 133). Ceiling link gates of this type, in which the rollers provided in the upper corner areas of the topmost door leaf member in the closed position are held in separate guides, which are guided separately from the usual guide for the rollers of the door leaf members adjoining them downwards, exist in the prior art in many different ways Execution (e.g. US-A 4 119 133). The intermediate guide pieces between the horizontal guide section for these rollers of the top door leaf member and the frame are designed in an arc shape, in an arc of a larger radius than the arc of the bridging sections for guiding the rollers of the other door leaf members. These bridging sections in their curved shape are not only difficult to manufacture, they also, because of their convex shape relative to the ceiling of the space to be closed with the door leaf, impair a space-saving arrangement of the weight compensation device for the door leaf in the form of a shaft with torsion springs arranged thereon in terms of the lintel height of the door opening and rope drums provided on both ends.

In the known overhead sectional doors of this type, the assembly is also unwieldy because the guide rails and the weight compensation device are attached by assembling individual parts, in some cases with difficult spatial assignment and composition.

With the invention, a gate of this type is to be made available, which is constructed using simple, compact and precisely manufactured parts which, even with a small height of the installation space between the upper end edge of the gate opening to be closed and the ceiling of the gate to be closed Space can be installed and can be particularly easily attached to the site with largely pre-assembled parts.

This is achieved according to the invention in that both the guide intermediate piece for the rollers of the uppermost door leaf member in the closed position and the torsion shaft bearing are held on special bearing brackets attached in the two upper corner areas of the door frame and that the guide intermediate pieces are curved or with a rectilinear area angled end sections are formed.

Preferred embodiments of the invention result from the subclaims in connection with the embodiment shown in the drawing, to which particular reference is made and the following description of which explains the invention in more detail.

Figure 1 shows an application example of a sectional door in the closed state. The door leaf consists of a number of panels which are connected to one another in succession. The top panel 4 is held at its upper edge by means of special rollers 8 in the side secondary guide rails, each of which consists of a horizontally and rectilinear section 10 and a frame-side section designed as a guide intermediate piece 12. The remaining panels 4 'and 4 "are held via rollers 8' with respect to their spacing in the first guide rails running on both sides of the door leaf, each of which consists of an approximately vertical section 5, an adjoining arcuate transition guide section 6 and a horizontal section 7, which the latter extends approximately parallel to the garage ceiling.

To balance the weight, a torsion spring device 40 is provided which extends above the intermediate guide piece 12 of the second guide rails over the door opening to be closed and has drums 41 on both sides outside the door leaf, onto each of which a pull rope 42 can be wound and unwound. Depending on the available space, the rope 42 runs onto the drums either on the side facing the door opening or on the side facing the inside of the garage. In the latter case, the rope ends are fastened to the lowest gate panel 4 ″ via lugs, which overlap the associated guide rail. This arrangement allows the torsion spring device with the drums to be arranged particularly close and thus space-saving on the wall having the gate opening.

Such a gate can be operated by hand, but it is also possible to provide a drive as indicated at 44.

The perspective view according to FIG. 2 of one corner area of the frame with a bearing bracket 11 is repeated in a mirror-symmetrical arrangement in the other corner frame area. The bracket 11 is designed as an angle piece, one of the legs running parallel to the frame plane is fixed to the frame and the other, approximately vertically striving from the plane of the frame towards the inside fastening designs for the counterbalance shaft 43 and that Intermediate guide piece 12 for the rollers of the top door leaf member in the closed position. The frame-side end of the guide intermediate piece 12 is provided with a lower bore 20 with respect to the vertical direction of the frame, through which a screw bolt (not shown) is guided, which has a corresponding bore (not visible) in a leg region of the bearing bracket 11 that struts perpendicularly from the frame plane in its lower region reaches through. Because of this bolt connection, the intermediate guide piece 12 can be pivoted about the axis of this bolt in the bore 20 in the vertical plane during assembly. In the course of assembly, the intermediate guide piece 12 is initially held only on this pivot connection at 20 on the bearing bracket 11, so that it can be held projecting downward from the frame plane and the assembly of the other guide pieces of the first guide and the second guide is particularly facilitated. After completion of this assembly of the guide sections, the entire guide frame is pivoted upward, so that a bore 26 provided in the upper frame-side end region on a tab design of the intermediate guide piece 12 corresponds to a bore 27 in the bearing bracket 11. A screw bolt is guided through the corresponding openings 26 and 27, as a result of which the angular position between the intermediate guide piece 12 and the frame plane is fixed.

The counterbalance shaft is largely preassembled, depending on the length, at most divided in the longitudinal direction, in such a way that the shaft region adjoining the corner region shown can be fixed in the preassembled state with the torsion shaft 40 and cable drum 41 via the shaft bearing 19 on the bearing bracket 11. The shaft bearing 19 preferably comprises a conical part striving in the direction of the torsion spring for receiving the adjacent spring end and is provided with a roller bearing for the shaft 43. The shaft bearing 19 is provided with a radially strutting web part 18, which is flat and forms guides in its longitudinal edge regions. To increase the bending stiffness, this web part 18 is provided with rib-like projections projecting from its surface. The leg of the bearing bracket 11 striving from the frame plane, which preferably consists of sheet metal, is provided with hook-shaped tabs 16 and 17, which define guide grooves between the inside of their end region and the adjacent leg surface into which the longitudinal edges of the web part 18 of the shaft bearing 19 are insertable. The upper tab 16 is formed closer to the frame than the lower tab 17, so that the connecting line between the tabs results in a greater distance than the width of the web part 18 of the shaft bearing 19. The web part 18 can thus be inclined comfortably from above the groove-shaped engagement with the tabs are introduced; after the introduction, the shaft or the shaft bearing 19 is lowered so that the web part 18 comes into contact with the groove-shaped engagement between the leg of the bearing bracket 11 projecting perpendicularly to the frame plane and the tabs 16 and 17 formed therefrom with favorable torque distribution. The web part 18 has a bore which corresponds to an elongated hole running in the web part longitudinal direction or to a plurality of bores arranged one behind the other in this direction of the leg of the bearing bracket which projects perpendicularly from the frame plane. After inserting a screw bolt through the bore of the web part 18 and the elongated hole or one of the bores in series in the protruding leg of the bearing bracket 11, the shaft bearing 19 can be set in an adjusted spacing to the frame level on the bearing bracket 11.

In the course of the beginning of the assembly, the intermediate guide piece 12 is initially only articulated with respect to its bore 20 with the aid of a screw bolt on the bearing bracket 11, so that it can be connected to the other guide parts in a protruding manner at an angle. Thereafter, the entire guide and thus the guide intermediate piece 12 is pivoted upward in the vertical plane, so that the bore 26 in the web-shaped projecting region of the guide intermediate piece 12 designed as a die-cast part comes into flush agreement with the bore 27 in the bearing bracket 11. A guide tab 28 directed towards the frame and laterally bent from the pivoting direction makes it easier to take the final pivoting position of the intermediate guide piece 12 to the bearing bracket 11. After inserting a bolt through the bores 26 and 27, which are now aligned, the guide intermediate piece 12 is at the correct angle Bearing bracket 11 set.

Figure 3 shows a side view of the guide intermediate piece 12, from which it can be seen that this intermediate piece is curved or angled at its two end regions. In the area shown on the right, the bore 20 is provided, which creates the screw connection to the bearing bracket 11 which can be pivoted during the assembly. The bore 20 is provided in the end region 13 which is directed downward in the operating position and which merges into the rectilinear section 15 of the intermediate guide piece 12 at an angle slightly greater than 90 ° . At the other end, the guide intermediate piece 12 opens into an approximately horizontally running guide (not shown) (second guide section 10 in FIG. 1), namely via a slightly curved end region 14, on which a connecting plate 22 is formed on the outside of the guide space. The connection plate carries a series of bores, which serves to connect the intermediate guide piece 12 to its associated, approximately horizontally running guide section 10, on the one hand, and the guide section 7, which runs parallel to it below, for the rollers of the other door leaf members and is provided with correspondingly arranged screw-through openings. In the beginning of the straight line extending section 15 of the guide intermediate piece 12 are formed downwardly projecting retaining tabs 23 and 24, which receive the circular arc-shaped transition guide section 6, not shown, between the horizontal guide section 7 on the one hand and the vertical guide section 5 on the other hand, the rollers of the other door leaf members between them stabilizing (Figure 1) . Also in this initial region of the straight longitudinal section 15 of the guide intermediate piece 12 is an upwardly projecting section 25 with an undercut groove opening into which the free end of an operating line for the manual movement of the door leaf can be inserted.

As seen from the horizontal guide section 10 for the rollers of the top door leaf member 4 in the closed position, the straight longitudinal section 15 of the intermediate guide piece 12 is only slightly inclined downwards from the horizontal towards the frame, i.e. the arcuate end piece of the end region 14 adjoining the horizontal guide section 10 encloses a very large obtuse angle with the straight longitudinal section 15.

In the frame-side end area, the guide intermediate piece 12 is formed with a straight downward guide end area 13, which includes an obtuse angle with the longitudinal axis of the straight longitudinal section 15 of the intermediate piece 12, which is only slightly greater than 90 ° . This end region 13, which extends approximately perpendicularly to the side frame, receives the rollers 8 of the top door leaf 4 in the closed position when the door is designed to be movable by hand. Then these rollers 8 of the uppermost section are supported on the approximately vertically running wall section 29 facing the room to be locked, so that the topmost door leaf member 4 in the closed position does not enter the interior of the room or the area of the linear longitudinal section 15 of the intermediate guide piece 12 can be transferred. Authorized and targeted opening of the door leaf therefore requires that the door leaf be slightly raised at the beginning of the opening movement. If an approximately horizontally guided motor drive 44 is provided for the door leaf instead of manual operation, then the rollers 8 of the top door leaf member 4 in the closed position must be able to follow this horizontal drive movement direction. This means that the rollers 8 of the uppermost door leaf member 4 in the closed position can reach the straight longitudinal section 15 of the intermediate guide piece 12 under horizontal tensile stress. The reduction of this motorized door drive ensures in this case that a pressure load from the outside of the door leaf or the top door leaf member 4 in the closed position cannot lead to its opening movement.

In order to be able to selectively set the manual actuation and the motorized actuation of the door leaf, the rollers 8 in the upper side areas of the uppermost door leaf member 4 in the closed position are adjustable such that they rest in the vertical section 29 of the end region 13 of the guide intermediate pieces 12 during manual operation, while they are held higher in the closed position in the case of a motor drive in such a way that an approximately horizontal tensile stress caused by the motor drive allows the rollers to reach the straight longitudinal section 15 of the guide intermediate pieces 12. The rollers 8 are arranged for this purpose in a vertical plane adjustable, in particular via a cross slide guide 45 between the axle bracket of these rollers 8 and its base part, which is connected to the uppermost door leaf member 4 (Fig. 1). In this way, not only can the respective need for manual operation or motor operation be met, there is also an adjustment option for the exact setting of the uppermost door leaf member in the closed position with respect to the door leaf level in the closed position.

The straightforward design of the guide intermediate piece over the majority between the end regions not only has the advantage of a lower counterbalance shaft arrangement, it is also particularly advantageous in the case that this guide intermediate piece in a preferred embodiment of the invention is a cast part, in particular a zinc Pressure casting, is formed. As can be seen from the lines X and Y in FIG. 3, cores which are divided in a straight line can be used in the course of the production and can be removed without problems after the production by casting. Only in the area of the transition between the straight longitudinal section 15 and the end part 13, which is relatively bluntly bent on the frame side, do sharp-edged transitions occur on the inside guide surfaces of this intermediate piece, which require rounding-off processing.
