Connecteur, notamment connecteur électrique, constitué de deux éléments de connecteur (A, B) accouplables mécaniquement l'un à l'autre pour établir des liaisons entre des organes respectifs contenus dans ces deux éléments de connecteur, les deux éléments de connecteur (A, B) étant pourvus d'un boîtier (1, 10) et l'un (10) de ces boîtiers supportant une bague (11) d'accouplement mécanique et de verrouillage mécanique dudit accouplement apte à coopérer avec le boîtier (1) de l'autre élément (A), ladite bague (11) étant composée d'une bague intérieure (12) agencée en vue de réaliser l'accouplement ou le désaccouplement mécanique avec l'autre élément (A) et une bague extérieure (13) agencée pour commander le verrouillage ou le déverrouillage mécanique de l'accouplement des deux éléments, les deux bagues (12, 13) étant solidaires l'une de l'autre en rotation et la bague extérieure (13) pouvant coulisser axialement par rapport à la bague intérieure (12), caractérisé en ce que sont en outre prévus des moyens de blocage relâchables (18, 21) associés à la susdite bague (11) et agencés de manière à pouvoir occuper deux positions fonctionnelles, savoir une première position ou position de blocage dans laquelle les moyens de blocage solidarisent l'une à l'autre les bagues intérieure (12) et extérieure (13) et interdisent l'actionnement de la seule bague extérieure (13) pour la faire passer dans la position correspondant au verrouillage mécanique tant que les éléments de connecteur (A, B) ne sont pas accouplés mécaniquement l'un à l'autre, et une seconde position, ou position de libération, pour laquelle, sous l'action de moyens de commande (9) qui sont inhibés tant que les deux éléments de connecteur ne sont pas accouplés l'un à l'autre, les moyens de blocage (18, 21) libèrent la bague extérieure (13) et l'autorisent à passer dans sa position de verrouillage de l'accouplement des deux éléments de connecteur (A, B).1.
