Abstract

There is disclosed a lead-free and plastics-free hunting bullet, preferably made of tombac, in which on impact with a target a cap, which is provided with wedge-shaped projections, is forced rapidly rearwards within the bullet so that the projections rupture the wall of the bullet internally with the results that uniformly distributed tongues or petals are formed within the target. The bullet maintains its overall weight on passage through the body of an animal and no lead or plastics material can be become transferred to the body.

Description

This invention is intended to provide protection for a lead-free hunting projectile, in which predetermined breaking points are introduced into the projectile by means of the closure cap when it is placed on a game body, so that it spreads into equal parts and there is no weight loss of the projectile when passing through the game body.

Hunting bullets are known which consist of a jacket and a lead core. The tip can be full or hollow. The jacket can have reinforcements running around the projectile, which limits the expansion.

These bullets give off many shell and lead splinters when passing through the target, some of them. the lead is ground to the finest dust or slime. The projectile thereby loses a large part of its own weight, so that in many cases the projectile energy is no longer sufficient to achieve the desired committee. If the game jumps off and dies at a later point in time, at least part of the lead slime gets into the game's bloodstream.

Furthermore, hunting bullets are known which consist of a solid tombac body and a blind hole is arranged starting from the tip thereof. Crack locations are provided inside the blind hole. The hole itself is filled with lead or plastic. With bullets, these bullets have a particularly strong lead-glue winding and, when filled with plastic, they are absolutely crushed.

Jadgd projectiles are also known, which consist of a solid tombac body and in which the blind hole is closed at the front with a hood. Milled grooves are provided on the outer surface of the floor to ensure that the floors are spread evenly. However, these millings offer increased air resistance, so that the projectile loses speed and therefore energy more quickly. The manufacture of such projectiles is also relatively expensive due to the introduction of the millings.

Eliminating the disadvantages indicated above is the object of this invention. The invention provides a projectile in which the entire projectile body e.g. consists of tombac. The projectile body is in a known manner pointed at the front (conical). In the center of the projectile, starting from the tip, a blind hole is provided, which is covered with a special sealing hood or a sealing plug, preferably made of steel. The closure hood has two or more (preferably four or five) cams, which have the task, when hitting the target and sliding back into the blind hole, to cut open the inner wall in order to achieve a uniform spreading. The closure hood is preferably not spherical at the front, but smooth or hollow. In this way, a safe and rapid sliding back of the floor hood is achieved.

When such a hunting bullet strikes a game body, the closure hood is now pushed backwards into the blind hole when it is placed, the cams of the closure hood scratching the wall of the blind hole. In the resulting cavity in front of the breech cap, a high dynamic pressure now arises, by means of which the tip of the projectile body spreads open or is torn open. The cracks now appear evenly distributed over the circumference of the projectile at the scratched points which were introduced by means of the locking cam cams. The further the closure hood penetrates to the rear, the more the torn flags of the projectile body enlarge and, due to the resistance, turn from the front in a ring to the rear. Since the projectile has spread symmetrically during this process, it maintains its direction in the game body and does not roll over. Due to the low weight of the breech hood and the low resistance which has to be overcome when the hood moves backwards, the projectile reacts very quickly, so that the spreading begins when it is placed on the game body and progresses quickly. On the way through the game body, no metal parts are separated from the projectile so that it retains its full weight. This ensures that a committee is practically always achieved. Due to the rotation of the bullet in the game body and due to the protruding flags, a particularly large number of blood vessels are destroyed, which is important in order to achieve sufficient sweat release when the projectile emerges from the game body.

Because there is no splintering effect, as occurs on the mantle storey with lead core, the deer destruction is only very slight.

Of course, it is also possible to mount the cams on the closure hood somewhat at an angle to the axis. As a result, a somewhat twisted, swirl-like scoring process is achieved, so that the flags created during the shot also run at an angle to the axis. Increasing the effect can be achieved by tilting the flags. The inclination of the cams can optionally be provided in two directions, so that either left or right twist occurs with respect to the predetermined breaking points. The projectile can also be provided with a hair cut edge.

Bullets made of solid tombac generally have an increased resistance to injection when entering the barrel. This phenomenon can be counteracted if relief grooves or a cone are provided at the rear in the guide part of the projectile. It is also possible to make the blind hole not cylindrical, but slightly conical or partially conical. The spreading of the projectile can hereby be regulated.

The projectile body according to the invention is easy to manufacture on an automatic lathe. The closure hood is easy to manufacture using the cold pressing process, preferably made of steel. The closure hood is only in the top of the projectile body pers pressed. A secure press fit is achieved by the cams on the hood.

The lead-free hunting bullet described above fulfills all indoor, outdoor and target ballistic requirements. It responds very quickly when touching down on a target, maintains its direction in the game body, obtains a sufficiently large committee, the deer destruction is only slight, the energy release in the target is good and therefore the effect and finally, it is a completely lead and plastic-free projectile so that poisoning cannot occur.
