  • Für zeichendruckende Büromaschinen, z. B. Schreibmaschinen, serielle Drucker, Ausgabegeräte von Elektronenrechnern usw. wurden zur Erhöhung des Bedienungskomfortes Farbbandkassetten entwickelt. Als Farbbänder für solche Kassetten sind einerseits sogenannte Einmalcarbonbänder bekannt, bei welchen jede Stelle des Farbbandes nur einmal benützt wird, also das Farbband nach jedem Zeichenabdruck um mindestens die grösste Zeichenbreite weitertransportiert wird. Andererseits kennt man Multicarbonbänder, bei welchen die farbgebende Schicht mehrfach, z. B. drei- bis sechsfach benutzt werden kann. Damit ist für die gleiche Bandlänge eine erheblich grössere Schreibdauer möglich. In der Praxis wird bei Multicarbonbändern bei jedem gedruckten Zeichen das Band um einen Bruchteil der Zeichenbreite weitertransportiert, z. B. um 1/3 bis 1/6. Die Farbe wird deshalb überlappend, sukzessive vom Band abgetragen. Claims (9)

1. A ribbon cassette for a character-printing office machine, the cassette comprising: a casing (2); a supply reel (21); a take-up reel (22); a coupling element (1) rotatably mounted in the casing and drivable by the office machine; and a drive wheel (11) which is rotatably mounted in the casing, engages frictionally on the take-up side with the ribbon (12) and is connected by way of gearing (5, 10) to the coupling element (1), characterised in that the gearing (5, 10) is in the form of shift gearing having at least two selectively engageable transmission ratios.
2. A cassette according to claim 1, characterised in that the gearing (5, 10) has a manual control element (3).
3. A cassette according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the gearing (5, 10) has mechanical means (35, 15) for locking it in its operative positions.
4. A cassette according to any of claims 1 - 3, characterised in that the gearing has: a first gear set (5) mounted coaxially of the coupling element (1) and corotating therewith and comprising two gears (6, 7) of different sizes; and a second gear set (10) connected to the drive wheel (11) for corotation therewith, and having two gears (8, 9) of different sizes; and the two gear sets (5, 10) are movable axially relatively to one another, one gear of each of the two sets meshing together in each of the two operative positions.
5. A cassette according to claims 3 and 4, characterised in that the first gear set (5) is movable axially relatively to the coupling element (1) and the locking means (35, 15) are integral components of the first gear set (5) and coupling element (1).
6. A cassette according to claim 5, characterized in that the locking means comprise a resilient cam (35) which bears in both of said operative positions on a respective shoulder (26, 27).
7. A cassette according to any of claims 4 - 6, characterized in that the movable gear set (5) has a manual control element (3) which projects beyond the casing (2).
8. A cassette according to claim 7, characterised in that the control element is a coaxial knob (3) connected to the movable gear set (5).
9. A cassette according to claim 8, characterized in that the knob (3) is rigidly connected to the movable gear set (5) and has knurling (36).
