Definitions
- the invention relates to a single-ended high-pressure discharge lamp with a discharge vessel, which has two opposite shafts, in which current leads are melted in, one shaft opening directly into a base made of a heat-resistant, electrically insulating material with two contact elements, and the current supply of this shaft with one Contact element and the other power supply of the shaft facing away from the base is connected to the second contact element via an electrical conductor.
- Such a lamp is known for example from DE-OS 32 36 462.
- these lamps achieve good operational safety with regard to the electrical data with an ignition voltage of more than 20 kV required for hot ignition (immediate re-ignition).
- the angled power supply to one of the contact elements results in a relatively large contact distance and thus an oversized size of the base body.
- a correspondingly large cutout in the apex of the reflector is also required, which means that the utilization of the light emitted by the lamp is reduced.
- the contact surface in the associated version lies on the underside of the base of the collar surrounding the contact elements. This results in a relatively large length up to the discharge vessel, which means that the lamp can be positioned less precisely.
- the object of the invention is to design the base body in such a way that it enables good positioning in the reflector with small geometric dimensions.
- the base body should continue to heat up as little as possible due to the radiation emitted by the lamp.
- at least the same advantageous values should apply to the electrical data as to the known lamps.
- the single-ended high-pressure discharge lamp with the features mentioned in the preamble of the main claim is characterized in that the base has a substantially conical shape in its part facing the discharge vessel, which is followed by a hollow cylindrical centering pin with a lateral slot which surrounds one of the contact elements, wherein the shaft opening in the base is fastened in the tapered part and the electrical conductor is fastened in the lateral surface of the cone, and the second contact element is arranged at a distance next to the centering pin on the side facing away from the slot.
- the centering pin lies on the longitudinal axis of the lamp formed by the shafts.
- the centering pin is advantageously rectangular and has a collar on its side facing away from the discharge vessel of partially annular cross section which concentrically surrounds the contact element.
- the collar increases the withstand voltage of the high voltage, because less dirt can accumulate on the edges and corners.
- the extensions of the surface lines of the cone form an intersection within the discharge space, preferably in the center of the arc. This measure ensures that only a minimum of radiation falls from the discharge space onto the base body and heats the base body higher than desired.
- the tapered part of the cone, in which a lamp shaft is fastened is designed as an annular collar which surrounds this lamp shaft at a certain distance.
- the part of the cone facing away from the lamp has a larger cross section than the centering pin.
- the surfaces of the cone protruding on both sides above the centering pin are arranged perpendicular to the lamp axis and form a plane serving as a support surface. In this way, a better positioning of the lamp in the socket is achieved compared to the known embodiment, since the contact surface is closer to the arc and an undesired tilting of the lamp in the socket has less of an effect.
- the electrical conductor leading away from the power supply facing away from the socket is designed as a flat, preformed, rigid metal strip which faces the discharge vessel with its narrow side and which is guided through the lateral surface of the cone and at the same time is designed as a second contact element.
- the heating of the metal strip is kept small and, on the other hand, the otherwise necessary welded connections on the power supply or on the contact element are avoided.
- the lamp is less susceptible to faults.
- Both contact elements are shorter than the cylindrical centering pin of the base, so that when inserting the base into a socket the centering pin engages before the contact elements come into contact with the corresponding contact counterparts of the socket.
- the second contact element is more suitable than the known embodiments in that the lamp is secured against being pulled out of the socket.
- the high-pressure discharge lamp 1 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 consists of the discharge vessel 2 with the two shafts 3 and 4 arranged opposite one another and the base 5 made of ceramic.
- a power supply 6 protrudes from the shaft 4 on the side facing away from the base 5.
- the shaft 3 opens into an opening in the base 5 and is fastened there.
- the discharge vessel 2 is filled with mercury, several metal halides and an inert gas and sealed at the pump tip 7.
- a high-pressure lamp without halide additives or an inert gas lamp can also be used.
- the base 5 consists of an upper part 8 facing the discharge vessel 2 with an essentially conical shape, to which a lower, hollow cylindrical centering pin 9 adjoins the discharge vessel 2.
- the angle of the cone 8 is chosen so that the extensions of its surface lines form an intersection within the discharge space.
- the cone 8 is cut symmetrically on both sides.
- a smaller round collar 10 adjoins the centering pin 9 with a rectangular cross section.
- a slot 11 extends over almost the entire length of the centering pin 9, including the collar 10, which gives access to the connecting pin 12 surrounded by the centering pin 9 at a certain distance.
- This pin 12 is provided for the high voltage required for ignition. The power supply melted into the shaft 3 (not visible in FIGS. 1 and 2) is welded to this connecting pin 12.
- the second pin 13 is located outside the centering pin 9 on the side facing away from the slot 11 and is formed by a preformed, rigid, flat metal band 14 made of nickel-plated copper, which is welded to the power supply 6 of the lamp shaft 4 and is guided through the outer surface of the cone 8 .
- the lamp shaft 3 is fastened in the tapered part and the metal strip 14 in the lower region of the cone 8 by means of cement.
- FIG. 3 shows the interaction of the lamp 1 and in particular the base 5 with an associated socket 15.
- the contact elements 16 and 17 of the socket 15 are designed in the manner of leaf springs and take up the connecting pins 12 and 13 in a force-fitting manner.
- the contact element 16 protrudes through the slot 11 of the centering pin 9.
- the centering pin 9 and the round collar 10 find space within a centering recess incorporated in the socket body 18.
- the contact elements 16 and 17 are fastened in chambers 20 and 21 separated from one another by a wall 19, the respective upper openings of both chambers 20 and 21 leaving only one access for the centering pin 9 with its collar 10 and the connecting pins 12 and 13 by covers 22 and 23 are closed from ceramic or mica.
- the high-pressure discharge lamp 1 is arranged within a reflector 24.
- the metal halide high-pressure discharge lamp 1 described here is preferably operated at a square-wave voltage with an open-circuit voltage of more than 250 V, as a result of which it is particularly suitable for film and television recordings without a flicker effect.
- the lamp is also suitable for e.g. Slide projection and other applications can be used.
- An ignition voltage of up to 25 kV is applied for the ignition, in particular for immediate re-ignition.
- the favorable combination of halides of different rare earths results in constant, daylight-like radiation of 18,900 lm at approx. 5,600 K and a color rendering index Ra of more than 90.
- the burning voltage of approx. 45 V and the current of 6 A result in a lamp power of e.g. approx.

Description
The invention relates to a single-ended high-pressure discharge lamp with a discharge vessel, which has two opposite shafts, in which current leads are melted in, one shaft opening directly into a base made of a heat-resistant, electrically insulating material with two contact elements, and the current supply of this shaft with one Contact element and the other power supply of the shaft facing away from the base is connected to the second contact element via an electrical conductor.
Such a lamp is known for example from DE-OS 32 36 462. In practice it has been shown that these lamps achieve good operational safety with regard to the electrical data with an ignition voltage of more than 20 kV required for hot ignition (immediate re-ignition). Due to the design, however, there is a relatively high thermal load on the base body, which is transferred unfavorably to the lamp, which reduces the life of the lamp and which leads to a delayed cooling of the lamp itself. The angled power supply to one of the contact elements results in a relatively large contact distance and thus an oversized size of the base body. In addition to the fact that this results in a high heat capacity of the base body, a correspondingly large cutout in the apex of the reflector is also required, which means that the utilization of the light emitted by the lamp is reduced. The contact surface in the associated version lies on the underside of the base of the collar surrounding the contact elements. This results in a relatively large length up to the discharge vessel, which means that the lamp can be positioned less precisely.
The object of the invention is to design the base body in such a way that it enables good positioning in the reflector with small geometric dimensions. The base body should continue to heat up as little as possible due to the radiation emitted by the lamp. At the same time, at least the same advantageous values should apply to the electrical data as to the known lamps.
The single-ended high-pressure discharge lamp with the features mentioned in the preamble of the main claim is characterized in that the base has a substantially conical shape in its part facing the discharge vessel, which is followed by a hollow cylindrical centering pin with a lateral slot which surrounds one of the contact elements, wherein the shaft opening in the base is fastened in the tapered part and the electrical conductor is fastened in the lateral surface of the cone, and the second contact element is arranged at a distance next to the centering pin on the side facing away from the slot. For better handling of the lamp when inserted into a socket, the centering pin lies on the longitudinal axis of the lamp formed by the shafts. In order to ensure a fitting insertion of the base into this socket, the centering pin is advantageously rectangular and has a collar on its side facing away from the discharge vessel of partially annular cross section which concentrically surrounds the contact element. The collar increases the withstand voltage of the high voltage, because less dirt can accumulate on the edges and corners. The extensions of the surface lines of the cone form an intersection within the discharge space, preferably in the center of the arc. This measure ensures that only a minimum of radiation falls from the discharge space onto the base body and heats the base body higher than desired. For the same reason, the tapered part of the cone, in which a lamp shaft is fastened, is designed as an annular collar which surrounds this lamp shaft at a certain distance. The part of the cone facing away from the lamp has a larger cross section than the centering pin. The surfaces of the cone protruding on both sides above the centering pin are arranged perpendicular to the lamp axis and form a plane serving as a support surface. In this way, a better positioning of the lamp in the socket is achieved compared to the known embodiment, since the contact surface is closer to the arc and an undesired tilting of the lamp in the socket has less of an effect. The electrical conductor leading away from the power supply facing away from the socket is designed as a flat, preformed, rigid metal strip which faces the discharge vessel with its narrow side and which is guided through the lateral surface of the cone and at the same time is designed as a second contact element. In this way, on the one hand, the heating of the metal strip is kept small and, on the other hand, the otherwise necessary welded connections on the power supply or on the contact element are avoided. This means that the lamp is less susceptible to faults. For safety reasons Both contact elements are shorter than the cylindrical centering pin of the base, so that when inserting the base into a socket the centering pin engages before the contact elements come into contact with the corresponding contact counterparts of the socket. In addition, due to its free position and its length, the second contact element is more suitable than the known embodiments in that the lamp is secured against being pulled out of the socket.
