Um eine solche Gefährdung zu verhindern, hat man die untere Kaminöffnung mit Blechen abgedeckt. Dies ist umständlich und zeitraubend. Beim Entfernen der Bleche wurde auf die Bleche herabgefallene Schlacke abgestreift, so daß die Schlacke in den frisch ausgemauerten Konverter fiel. Zum Zweck der Ausmauerung mußte man weiters in die Nähe der Mündung transportable Bühnenteile aufbauen, über welche Bühnenteile das Ausmauerungsmaterial vom Hallenkranbereich zur Mündung bringbar war.
