Description

Schreibgerät mit einer abnehmbaren KappeWriting instrument with a removable cap

The invention relates to a writing instrument with a removable cap covering the writing tip, which has an insert which is longitudinally displaceable between two stops in the cap and which, when the cap is placed on the writing tip holder (hereinafter referred to as writing tip) from a first to a second position is movable, which is indicated on the cap when the insert is in the second position. In a known writing instrument of this type (US Pat. No. 2,808,670) the insert is formed by a cylindrical sleeve which is arranged by a in the cap Compression spring is pressed into the first position when the cap is removed from the writing instrument. In this position, the insert protrudes from the cap, thereby revealing a surface of the insert on which an image is arranged. When the cap is put on, the insert is pushed into the cap by a stop surface at the tip of the writing instrument, the compression spring being tensioned and the image surface being covered by the cap. The cap is attached either frictionally or by means of a screw connection, which also absorbs the preload force of the compression spring. The aim of this known cap is to make an image or another character visible when the cap is removed from the writing instrument in order to inspire the writer with this image or character when writing. However, a reliable indication for the complete, tight seating of the cap on the writing tip is not achieved, since the image is already covered by the cap before the writing tip lies close to the base of the cap.

Furthermore, a protective cap for a fiber pen is known (DE-GM 74 21 165), which is transparent in its front area, in which the writing tip lies after being attached to the fiber pen. As a result, the font color of the fiber pen is clearly recognizable from the outside, so that no special coloring of the protective cap is required. In this embodiment, the inside of the transparent part of the protective cap can easily be wetted with ink, so that the position of the writing tip within the protective cap cannot be reliably determined.

The invention has for its object to provide a writing instrument with a removable cap of the type mentioned, in which the user is reliably shown that the cap is correctly placed on the writing tip.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the insert with a blind hole can be frictionally clamped onto the writing tip, that the insert in the cap is held in the first position by a limit force lock, the limit force of which is greater when unlocking and smaller than when locking Clamping the insert on the writing tip to overcome friction.

The writing instrument according to the invention has the advantage that a signal is only displayed on the cap when the insert which closes the writing tip is pushed all the way onto the writing tip. This provides the user with a simple means by which he can reliably recognize whether he has pushed the cap far enough onto the writing tip. The cap according to the invention is therefore particularly suitable for writing utensils such as fiber-tip pens which can easily dry out.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the cap preferably has a second limit force lock, by means of which the insert is held in the second position and whose limit force when unlocking is less than the friction force to be overcome when the insert is clamped on. This development has the advantage that the cap and the insert are held together in the second position with the limit force of the second limit force lock, so that an additional positional securing of the cap relative to the writing instrument can be dispensed with. The writing instrument can therefore be designed in a particularly simple manner and only requires a fitting seat for use.

Both limit force locks are advantageously designed as a locking device. A particularly simple embodiment of the locking mechanism is achieved in that a locking ring is fastened in the cap with spring tongues which span an annular collar on the insert and have locking surfaces in both positions of the insert with the respectively required limiting force of a corresponding slope. Such a design of the limit force ratchet is very simple and allows the required limit force to be set with sufficient accuracy.

A further simplification of the cap according to the invention is achieved in that the spring tongues have stop surfaces at their ends which limit the end position of the insert in the first and / or the second position.

To indicate that the cap has been pushed on correctly, the insert preferably has a signaling pin on the side facing away from the writing instrument, which is only fully visible in the second position at the free end of the cap, while in the first position the signaling pin is still visible as far as possible remains that, when the cap is removed, it can also be used as a color coding. For this purpose, the signaling pin can be designed so that in the second position of the insert it protrudes from an opening in the free end of the cap.

The protruding end of the signal pin can be protected by a basket surrounding the opening.

Another advantageous embodiment of the invention is that the cap consists of an opaque sleeve which is closed at the free end by a transparent hood through which the insert or the signal pin is visible in the second position. This configuration has the advantage that the insert is arranged in a completely protected manner inside the cap and its mode of operation cannot be impaired from the outside. According to the invention, an expedient development of this embodiment consists in that the locking ring rests with a collar on a step surface in the sleeve and is held there by the hood attached to the sleeve. At its open end, the insert advantageously has a scraper edge that slides resiliently on the inner wall of the sleeve. This achieves a jam-free guidance of the insert in the cap and prevents dirt from penetrating into the gap between the cap and the insert.

According to a further proposal of the invention, the display can also take place in that the cap has a window on the side in which the insert is only visible in the second position.

Further features and advantages of the invention result from the following description of a preferred exemplary embodiment, which is shown in the drawing. Show it
  • 1 shows a longitudinal section through a cap removed from a writing instrument,
  • Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the cap placed on a writing instrument according to Fig. 1 and
  • 3 shows a longitudinal section through the locking ring of the cap according to FIG. 1.

Die Federzungen 7 enden etwa in der Mitte der Hülse 2.The illustrated cap 1 consists of an essentially cylindrical sleeve 2, which is closed at one end by a hood 3. The sleeve 2 consists of an opaque and the hood 3 of a transparent material. In the sleeve 2 there is a locking ring 4 which is held with a collar 5 between a step surface 6 of the sleeve 2 and the hood 3. The locking ring 4 has three spring tongues 7 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve 2 and which are separated from one another by slots 8. On the inner surfaces of the spring tongues 7, flat ramp surfaces 9 and steep ramp surfaces 10 opposing them, and at a distance from the ramp surfaces 10 towards the tongue end, stop surfaces 11 are formed. The spring tongues 7 end approximately in the middle of the sleeve 2.

An insert 12 is also arranged in the sleeve 2, the length of which corresponds approximately to the length of the sleeve 2. The insert 12 has in its end facing the open end of the sleeve 2 a blind hole 13 which serves to receive the writing tip 14 of a writing instrument 15. The insert 12 is guided directly on the inner wall of the sleeve 2 with a scraper edge 16. The opposite end of the insert 12 is designed as a signal pin 17 which is guided in the locking ring 4 so as to be displaceable. In the middle, the insert 12 has a frustoconical annular collar 18 with a step surface 19, a cylindrical surface 20 and a conical surface 21. Radial webs 22 lead from the conical surface 21 to the signal pin 17 and stiffen the part of the insert 12 constricted in this area.

By pulling off the cap 1 from the writing instrument 15, the insert 12 reaches its first position shown in FIG. 1. Here, the insert 12 extends approximately to the open end of the sleeve 2 and rests with its step surface 19 against the stop surfaces 11. The spring tongues 7 rest on the cylinder surface 20 and the ramp surfaces 10 lie directly opposite the conical surface 21 and form a limit force lock, the limit force of which must be overcome when the insert 12 is pushed into the cap 1.

If the cap 1 is placed on the writing tip 14 of the writing instrument 15, the insert 12 with the blind bore 13 is first pushed onto the fitting seat 23 of the writing instrument 15. The friction that occurs between the blind bore 13 and the fitting seat surface 23 is smaller than the limit force caused by the ramp surfaces 10, so that the insert 12 can only be moved when the insert 12 is completely pushed onto the writing tip 14 and there is a stop. Only now does the full force with which the cap 1 is pushed onto the writing instrument 15 reach the limit force lock and there overcomes the radial tension force of the spring tongues 7. The ramp surfaces 10 slide outwards on the conical surface 21, as a result of which the insert 12 enters the cap 1 slides in until a collar of the writing instrument 15 lies against the sleeve 2. The signal plug 17 now almost completely fills the cavity of the hood 3, which can be seen from the outside through the transparent hood 3. The user of the writing instrument now knows that the cap completely closes the writing tip and drying of the writing instrument is avoided.

In order to achieve a clear display, the signal pin 17 can be colored in a striking signal color, for example red. When using several writing instruments of different colors, it can also be useful to color the signal pin 17 in the writing color of the writing instrument.

The signal position of the insert 12 is shown in Fig. 2. In this position, the cap 1 is held by a second counterforce, which is formed by the ramp surfaces 9. The ramp surfaces 9 lie on the rounded edge between the cylinder surface 20 and the step surface 19 under the spring action of Spring tongues 7 on and thereby prevent the cap 1 from slipping back into the position shown in FIG. 1 with respect to the insert 12. The insert 12 adheres to the blind bore 13 frictionally on the fitting seat surface 23 and is thus together with the cap 1 on Writing device 15 held. Since the limit force caused by the ramp surfaces 9 is less than the frictional force between the insert 12 and the writing tip 14, when the cap 1 is removed, the insert 12 is first pulled into the position shown in FIG. 1, in which it contacts the step surface 19 Stop surfaces 11 comes to rest. Only now can the full pulling force be transferred to the insert 12 via the spring tongues 7 and the cap 1 can be pulled off the writing instrument 15. This ensures that when the cap is removed, the insert 12 always returns to the first position shown in FIG. 1, in which the signal pin 17 in the hood 3 is no longer visible - or is still just visible in the color coding function.

The described cap is characterized by a high level of reliability, since the signal for the correct fitting of the cap only becomes visible when the insert protecting the writing tip is pushed on as far as it will go. The cap is very easy to manufacture, since it is composed of only a few components and the design of the limit force lock allows the required limit forces to be determined so precisely without great manufacturing effort that fluctuations in the frictional force between the writing tip and the blind bore cannot impair the function.

Claims (11)

1. A writing implement having a removable cap (1) covering the writing tip (14), which cap comprises an insert (12) which is longitudinally displaceable in the cap between two stops (9, 11) and which is movable from a first position into a second position in the setting of the cap upon the writing tip, there being an indication on the cap when the insert is situated in the second position, characterised in that the insert (12) can be clamped with a blind bore (13) in frictional engagement on the writing tip (14), [and] that the insert is held in the cap (1) in the first position by a limit-force catch (7, 1°, 21) the limit force of which is greater in releasing and less in locking than the friction force to be overcome in the clamping of the insert on to the writing tip.
2. A writing implement according to Claim 1, characterised in that the cap (1) comprises a second limit-force catch (7, 9, 18) by which the insert (12) is held in the second position and the limit force of which, in releasing, is less than the friction force to be overcome in the clamping-on of the insert.
3. A writing implement according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the limit-force catch is formed as a detent catch.
4. A writing implement according to Claim 3, characterised in that in the cap (1) there is secured a catch ring (4) with spring tongues (7) which grasp around an annular collar (18) on the insert (12) and which in both positions of the insert comprise detent faces (9, 10) with a slope corresponding to the limit force necessary in each case.
5. A writing implement according to Claim 4, characterised in that the spring tongues (7) have stop faces (11) on their ends which limit the end position of the insert in the first and/or second position.
6. A writing implement according to any preceding Claim, characterised in that the insert (12) comprises an indicator peg (17) which is fully visible on the free end of the cap (1) only in the second position.
7. A writing implement according to Claim 6, characterised in that the indicator peg (17), when the insert (12) is in the second position, protrudes from an opening in the free end of the cap (1).
8. A writing implement according to Claim 7, characterised in that the protruding end of the indicator peg (17) is protected by a cage surrounding the opening.
9. A writing implement according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the cap (1) comprises an opaque sleeve (2) which is closed at the free end with a transparent hood (3) through which the insert (12) or the indicator peg (17) is fully visible in the second position or still just visible in the first position.
10. A writing implement according to Claim 9, characterised in that the catch ring (4) rests with a collar (5) on a step face (6) in the sleeve (2) and is held there by the hood (3) secured to the sleeve.
