Definitions
- the invention relates to an inflatable seat cushion made of bendable material with several successively arranged and communicating chambers, which are divided by grooves and have decreasing heights.
- the design is such that the most stable seating position possible is achieved; H. that you combine a stable seating position with a pleasant, soft sitting feeling.
- the seat cushion is divided in a grid-like manner into several, in particular four, rows and four vertical columns, i.e. a total of sixteen individual chambers, which communicate with one another in order to shift the weight of the person sitting on it to effect appropriate redistribution of air. It is crucial, however, and this is also achieved by the large number of chambers, that a stable sitting position is achieved.
- a stable seating position also results in an inflatable armchair according to French patent application 20 85 431, in which an inflatable cushion is surrounded by a thicker ring cushion, which thus forms a raised edge, as the seat surface, and in addition a U-shaped inflatable cushion that can be folded over the seat Armrest ring is provided.
- a stable seating position is also urgently required in the case of an air cushion, in particular for motor vehicle seats, in accordance with German patent specification 644948, since a stable, non-slip seating position is particularly important for motor vehicle seats.
- it is provided in the seat cushion there that it increases in thickness from the front, so that the body is prevented from slipping forward as the surface of this seat cushion rises.
- the invention is based on the fact that all of these known inflatable seat cushions, regardless of the material-related beaded shape of their chambers, generally place value on a seat surface that is parallel to or underneath the base, with all of these seat cushions primarily being padded against a hard surface and one protective shield against damp and / or cold contact surfaces arrives through the seat cushion.
- the invention is directed toward the formation of a seat cushion designed according to medical-orthopedic aspects for the prevention and treatment of poor posture and postural damage, taking into account essential newly-recognized relationships which have so far been neglected in the relevant scientific studies.
- the starting point of the considerations is the fact that after long-lasting walking the symptoms of fatigue do not occur, which, in conventional sitting, require support of the spine to relieve the strain after a relatively short time.
- Analysis of the rhythmic walking process shows that the unstable equilibrium is stabilized without great effort by shifting the center of gravity by means of compensatory movements in the lower pelvic and lumbar region. Due to the largely rigid fixation of the conventional way of sitting, this relieving movement is considerably restricted and «unnatural» movement patterns, incorrect postures and the resulting incorrect loads are forced. Painful tension in the shoulder, neck, lumbar, pelvic and hip region with damage to the musculoskeletal system that cause structural disorders occurs early; Spine and joint damage are favored in the long run.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of developing a seat cushion of the type mentioned in such a way that primarily the free movements in the lower pelvic and lumbar region are promoted, which are decisive for stabilizing the unstable equilibrium position during walking.
- the invention provides that two chambers are provided, the groove of which serves to support the seat bumps of the pelvic bones and the height of the groove is lower than the maximum height of the rear chamber and lower than the maximum height of the front chamber, the maximum The height of the rear chamber is greater than the maximum height of the front chamber.
- the inventive design creates a seat cushion in a very flexible form (unstable air cushion), which is suitable to bring the pelvis into the correct position as a rest starting position, since the usual more slumped sitting position with a round back with such an unstable seat cushion is just not possible.
- the position assumed due to the instability of the seat cushion according to the invention favors the natural upright posture of the spine, which is characterized, inter alia, by a slight curvature of the lumbar spine from (physiological lumbar lordosis). Only with this healthy sitting posture can breathing proceed unhindered, which results in improved diaphragm function with free development of the ribs and lungs.
- the subdivision into two successively arranged chambers with a correspondingly designed groove between these chambers initially causes the user of the cushion to sit down in such a way that the seat bones of the pelvic bones find their place in the area of the groove between the two chambers lying one behind the other.
- the raised rear chamber favors the desired pelvic position.
- the groove serves as a particularly suitable area of rotation, which, in contrast to the rigid seat surface, allows the pelvis to tilt, stand up and sideways, as well as the associated changes in position of the spine and center of gravity, without hindrance and without great effort. Due to the deformability of the seat cushion, which also depends on the degree of filling, limited parallel displacements of the seat surface against the inflation surface are possible in all directions, which increases the freedom of movement.
- the load Due to the free movement in the pelvic and lumbar region around the rest starting position, the load can be permanently shifted as when walking upright, so that there is no permanent damage and associated fatigue, which generally require the back to be supported when sitting conventionally. Of course, it does not have to be dispensed with if it also takes a back seat due to the strengthening of the spinal or core muscles.
- the continuous shifting of the load points which occurs through minimal movement impulses, promotes circulation and metabolism in the intervertebral disc tissue through the suction and pumping action that occurs and also counteracts degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs.
- the range of motion that can be achieved with the seat cushion according to the invention is greater than in walking with regard to the extent of the motion and the ease of carrying out motion impulses.
- the associated greater instability of the equilibrium position when sitting brings further advantages.
- Already slightly leaving the unstable equilibrium position counter impulses occur early to prevent tipping over, which restore the ideal starting position with little effort, thus avoiding the long-term poor or unfavorable posture, as is the case with conventional sitting on a rigid seat surface, but also on the hitherto developed and common seat cushion is the rule.
- An existing false statics or pathological curvature of the spine is consistently counteracted with a seat cushion of the type according to the invention. Large leverage forces with harmful compression and shear effects between the vertebral bodies are avoided, favorable movement patterns are permanently imprinted.
- the seat cushion according to the invention is able to make a significant contribution to the prevention and treatment of damage to the spine and joints as a result of recurrent incorrect loads and forced postures in the conventional sitting position, which favors unnatural and damaging movements, above all due to the rigid fixation of the pelvis.
- a seat cushion according to the invention can also be designed in such a way that the chambers are arranged around one another in a U-shape with the U opening facing forward.
- FIG. 1 shows the desired sitting position with the aid of the seat cushion 3 according to the invention resting on the seat 1 of a chair 2.
- this seat cushion 3 consists of two chambers 4 and 5, which communicate with one another and, in a known manner, have a valve for inflating with a gas, generally with air.
- the different degree of filling of the two chambers 4 and 5 has an influence on the range of motion and pelvic position.
- the two chambers 4 and 5 communicate with each other.
- the rear chamber 4 has a length v and a maximum height w. This decreases to the front of the seat cushion 3, d. H. in the direction of the adjacent chamber 5 to the lower height x, which is slightly exceeded by the greatest height of the front chamber 5, the height of which decreases from approximately to the dimension y.
- the height x is in the unloaded, fully inflated state of the seat cushion in the current version - as is generally the case - limited by the height of a web connecting the transverse groove on the top and bottom, which can have several vertical interruptions.
- the length z of the front chamber 5 is less than the length v of the rear chamber 4, which is also higher.
- the seat surface 6 forms, as it were, an inclined plane, which, however, has the transverse groove 7 separating the two chambers 4 and 5. Possibly.
- the chambers 4 and 5 can also have one or more longitudinal grooves 8, which are indicated to a greater or lesser extent and which, since they are only alternative, are only indicated by dashed lines.
- the chambers 4 and 5 in the cushion according to FIG. 3 take a generally U-shaped course with the U opening facing away.
- the outer chamber 4 is again higher towards the rear and towards the outside, and its height increases towards the front, i. H. to the front or inner chamber 5 from steadily.
- the width v of the rear chamber 4 is greater than the width z of the front or inner chamber 5.
- the chamber 4 is guided in an arc around the chamber 5, FIG. 3 revealing that also the difference in the widths v and z of the chambers 4 and 5 up to the front end at the front edge 10 of the seat cushion 3 is remarkable.
- the space 11 within the U-shaped chamber 5 can only be covered by a material web. However, it can also consist of a further chamber 12, which in turn is lower than the adjacent chamber 5. This is shown in FIG. 4. 9 denotes the web wall for dividing the individual chambers, while 14 openings are indicated, which enable communicating air exchange between the chambers. Instead of the web wall 9, the top layer and base layer of the cushion could of course also be directly connected to one another by a weld seam that does not extend over the entire width.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an inflatable seat cushion made of bendable material with several successively arranged and communicating chambers, which are divided by grooves and have decreasing heights.
AS 12 96 761) ».In such an inflatable seat cushion, which has become known from German utility model 19 17 505, the design is such that the most stable seating position possible is achieved; H. that you combine a stable seating position with a pleasant, soft sitting feeling. For this purpose, it is provided in the aforementioned utility model that the seat cushion is divided in a grid-like manner into several, in particular four, rows and four vertical columns, i.e. a total of sixteen individual chambers, which communicate with one another in order to shift the weight of the person sitting on it to effect appropriate redistribution of air. It is crucial, however, and this is also achieved by the large number of chambers, that a stable sitting position is achieved. The same also applies to inflatable seat cushions, such as were provided in German Offenlegungsschrift 23 28 124, the many individual chambers, which are again distributed in a grid-like manner, being able to be inflated more or less depending on the needs, individually via a pump and valves switched on in the connecting lines Here, too, it is essential to achieve a stable sitting position, since on
A stable seating position also results in an inflatable armchair according to French patent application 20 85 431, in which an inflatable cushion is surrounded by a thicker ring cushion, which thus forms a raised edge, as the seat surface, and in addition a U-shaped inflatable cushion that can be folded over the seat Armrest ring is provided.
Finally, a stable seating position is also urgently required in the case of an air cushion, in particular for motor vehicle seats, in accordance with German patent specification 644948, since a stable, non-slip seating position is particularly important for motor vehicle seats. For this purpose, it is provided in the seat cushion there that it increases in thickness from the front, so that the body is prevented from slipping forward as the surface of this seat cushion rises.
The invention is based on the fact that all of these known inflatable seat cushions, regardless of the material-related beaded shape of their chambers, generally place value on a seat surface that is parallel to or underneath the base, with all of these seat cushions primarily being padded against a hard surface and one protective shield against damp and / or cold contact surfaces arrives through the seat cushion. The invention, on the other hand, is directed toward the formation of a seat cushion designed according to medical-orthopedic aspects for the prevention and treatment of poor posture and postural damage, taking into account essential newly-recognized relationships which have so far been neglected in the relevant scientific studies. The starting point of the considerations is the fact that after long-lasting walking the symptoms of fatigue do not occur, which, in conventional sitting, require support of the spine to relieve the strain after a relatively short time. Analysis of the rhythmic walking process shows that the unstable equilibrium is stabilized without great effort by shifting the center of gravity by means of compensatory movements in the lower pelvic and lumbar region.
The invention is therefore based on the object of developing a seat cushion of the type mentioned in such a way that primarily the free movements in the lower pelvic and lumbar region are promoted, which are decisive for stabilizing the unstable equilibrium position during walking.
To achieve this object, the invention provides that two chambers are provided, the groove of which serves to support the seat bumps of the pelvic bones and the height of the groove is lower than the maximum height of the rear chamber and lower than the maximum height of the front chamber, the maximum The height of the rear chamber is greater than the maximum height of the front chamber.
The inventive design creates a seat cushion in a very flexible form (unstable air cushion), which is suitable to bring the pelvis into the correct position as a rest starting position, since the usual more slumped sitting position with a round back with such an unstable seat cushion is just not possible. The position assumed due to the instability of the seat cushion according to the invention favors the natural upright posture of the spine, which is characterized, inter alia, by a slight curvature of the lumbar spine from (physiological lumbar lordosis). Only with this healthy sitting posture can breathing proceed unhindered, which results in improved diaphragm function with free development of the ribs and lungs.
The subdivision into two successively arranged chambers with a correspondingly designed groove between these chambers initially causes the user of the cushion to sit down in such a way that the seat bones of the pelvic bones find their place in the area of the groove between the two chambers lying one behind the other. The raised rear chamber favors the desired pelvic position. In addition to its function as a guideline for the seat bumps, the groove serves as a particularly suitable area of rotation, which, in contrast to the rigid seat surface, allows the pelvis to tilt, stand up and sideways, as well as the associated changes in position of the spine and center of gravity, without hindrance and without great effort. Due to the deformability of the seat cushion, which also depends on the degree of filling, limited parallel displacements of the seat surface against the inflation surface are possible in all directions, which increases the freedom of movement.
Due to the free movement in the pelvic and lumbar region around the rest starting position, the load can be permanently shifted as when walking upright, so that there is no permanent damage and associated fatigue, which generally require the back to be supported when sitting conventionally. Of course, it does not have to be dispensed with if it also takes a back seat due to the strengthening of the spinal or core muscles. The continuous shifting of the load points, which occurs through minimal movement impulses, promotes circulation and metabolism in the intervertebral disc tissue through the suction and pumping action that occurs and also counteracts degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs.
The range of motion that can be achieved with the seat cushion according to the invention is greater than in walking with regard to the extent of the motion and the ease of carrying out motion impulses. The associated greater instability of the equilibrium position when sitting brings further advantages. Already slightly leaving the unstable equilibrium position, counter impulses occur early to prevent tipping over, which restore the ideal starting position with little effort, thus avoiding the long-term poor or unfavorable posture, as is the case with conventional sitting on a rigid seat surface, but also on the hitherto developed and common seat cushion is the rule. An existing false statics or pathological curvature of the spine is consistently counteracted with a seat cushion of the type according to the invention. Large leverage forces with harmful compression and shear effects between the vertebral bodies are avoided, favorable movement patterns are permanently imprinted. Weakness in posture is gradually reduced through the constant training of the entire musculature in the pelvic spine area, including the abdominal muscles, while working while sitting. It is of value that entire chains of movements are activated at the same time. Minor structural disorders of the spine and any associated functional disorders in the chest and abdomen can be reduced, if necessary completely eliminated, by repeated deblocking impulses that cover the spine holistically.
Painful tension in the hip, pelvic, lumbar, shoulder and neck areas is automatically and effectively released through fine and low-stress movement and relaxation impulses. Thus, the seat cushion according to the invention is able to make a significant contribution to the prevention and treatment of damage to the spine and joints as a result of recurrent incorrect loads and forced postures in the conventional sitting position, which favors unnatural and damaging movements, above all due to the rigid fixation of the pelvis.
Such favorable effects cannot be achieved with the seat cushions which have been used up to now and which have not been developed for the purpose of improving posture and preventing spinal damage. The tendency towards incorrect posture, which is also present when they are used, triggers tension and incorrect movement sequences, which, due to the increased mobility, can lead to increased structural disorders of the spine. Only a seat cushion that is adapted to the healthy posture and natural movements creates the prerequisites for the prevention and treatment of spine damage caused by incorrect posture while sitting.
This also applies to an inflatable cushion, which has become known from German utility model 19 90 484, which is intended to serve as a resting cushion for supporting a part of the body when resting, i.e. obviously as a base for an arm, for the head or the like. Due to the arched section of a front space of the wide and short upholstery, it is unsuitable as a seat upholstery from the start, but especially because it would be used to a maximum of a third if used as a seat poster, while the remaining parts on the left and right were completely useless would survive. Due to the arcuate groove there is also no possibility of a sensible one, and moreover unstable, displaceable seat bump positioning, since the surrounding high upholstery parts would encompass the pelvis on all sides and would therefore conflict with the desired unstable sitting position.
In a further development of the invention, it has proven to be particularly expedient to make the length of the front chamber smaller than the length of the rear chamber, it finally also being within the scope of the invention to arrange two or more individual seat cushions one above the other and to connect them to one another don't communicate with each other. This training can achieve an even more unstable training of the seat cushion.
In addition, a seat cushion according to the invention can also be designed in such a way that the chambers are arranged around one another in a U-shape with the U opening facing forward.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, this
While the two
