- a device for breaking and / or stripping core material which means a product having a core and a shell, such as cocoa beans.
- the core material passes a gap between rollers profiled on the surface and having different circumferential speeds, the relative movement resulting from the speed difference causing the shell to break and detach.
- this working method is not suitable for every core good quality.
- cocoa beans in particular, there are lower qualities in which significant losses occur as a result of this type of processing.
- the shells mostly used as animal feed can still contain 2% core material, and conversely the core portion intended for further processing may also contain about as much percent shell portion, which is very undesirable because of the possible taste impairment.
- the losses mentioned, in particular in the case of certain cocoa bean qualities occur despite the separation of the lighter shells from the heavier core fraction based on the principle of air separation.

- a device with the features according to claim 1 is used.
- the cooperating disks with the projections on the circumference are roughened on the circumferential surface, in particular provided with axially parallel, acute-angled or rounded grooves, whereby what arrives between these surfaces Core material is kept. Further details emerge from the dependent claims.
- the device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has two mutually parallel shafts 1 and 2 which can be rotated in opposite directions and at least one of which can be driven. Depending on the circumstances, both shafts can therefore be driven.
- Each of the shafts 1 and 2 carries at least one, in the case shown in the drawing, five disks 3 in a row in the axial direction.
- Each of the disks has tooth-like projections 4 on the circumference in a regular angular division, the gaps between the projections 4 being wider than these.
- the disks with the projections alternating on the circumference in regular angular division and a contour with wider gaps in relation to them are designed on the left shaft 1 in the same way as the disks arranged on the right shaft 2.
- the disks arranged one behind the other on the same shaft are arranged at an angle to one another, in such a way that, in the case of disks adjacent to the same shaft in each case, the projections of one disk lie between the projections of the other disk.
- the projections of one disk lie on the center of the distance between the projections of the adjacent disk, but another angular displacement is also possible in which the projections do not lie on the center of the distance.
- the angular displacement of the disks 3 arranged one behind the other on the shafts 1 and 2 is such that the projections in engagement with the disks of the two shafts lie alternately one behind the other in the axial direction.
- FIG. 1 and 2 is such that the projections in engagement with the disks of the two shafts lie alternately one behind the other in the axial direction.
- the mutual distance between the two shafts 1 and 2 is such that the projections 4 of the respective interacting disks engage in one another without mutual contact when the disks rotate.
- a distance a is present on the connecting straight line between the shafts 1 and 2 between the projection 4 of one disk and the disk circumference of the opposite disk in the region of the gap between two projections, and since each gap between two Projections is wider than the projection 4, the projections of the respective cooperating disks delimit a channel 5 for the passage of the core material processed by the peripheral surfaces, which is fed from above according to arrow B.
- the two shafts 1 and 2 are rotatably mounted in a housing of the device (not shown in the drawing), and the housing connects directly to the disks, so that the core material supplied passes between the projections of a total of five disk pairs according to FIG.
- FIG. 1 The detail A from FIG. 1 shown in FIG. 1 on a larger scale shows one of the possible configurations of the circumferential surface of the disks 3, which is provided with rounded grooves 6 that extend axially parallel, this grooved surface extending over the entire circumference.
- the core material is better held and carried by the roughened peripheral surface of the disks 3.
- the greatest difference in the circumferential speeds of the two disks is present at the narrowest point with the distance a between the disks due to the different radii, so that the formwork is removed by the relative movement of the circumferential surfaces of the core material is brought about effectively.
- the design of the projections on the disks and the type of formation of the roughened peripheral surface can vary depending on the type of core material and the quality thereof.
- the disks 10 shown in sections in FIG. 4 have slimmer projections 11 with a rounded surface having rounded grooves 12.
- the peripheral surface is provided with acute-angled grooves 15.
- the projections are symmetrical with respect to a diameter line running to the tip of the projection, i.e. the two flanks of each projection run at an equal angle to the diameter line.
- the disks 16 can also have projections 17 which are asymmetrical on their flanks with respect to a diameter line.
- FIG. 7 shows an embodiment in which the disk 18 arranged on the one shaft, of which several such as in FIGS.
- FIGS. 8 and 9 An embodiment which differs from the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 is shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 and has a plurality of disks 3 on each of the two shafts 1 and 2, which are arranged axially offset from one another in such a way that they overlap somewhat on the center distance, in such a way that a projection 4 of the disk arranged on one shaft extends beyond the lowest point of the gap of the disk 3 arranged on the other shaft.
- This embodiment is also suitable for the intended purpose, in particular for poor quality core goods.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for breaking and / or stripping core material, which means a product having a core and a shell, such as cocoa beans. To remove the shell from the core, devices have hitherto been used in which the core material passes a gap between rollers profiled on the surface and having different circumferential speeds, the relative movement resulting from the speed difference causing the shell to break and detach. However, this working method is not suitable for every core good quality. In cocoa beans in particular, there are lower qualities in which significant losses occur as a result of this type of processing. The shells mostly used as animal feed can still contain 2% core material, and conversely the core portion intended for further processing may also contain about as much percent shell portion, which is very undesirable because of the possible taste impairment. The losses mentioned, in particular in the case of certain cocoa bean qualities, occur despite the separation of the lighter shells from the heavier core fraction based on the principle of air separation.
The object underlying the invention was therefore to provide a device which is suitable for detaching the pods very carefully from the core components, by grasping each individual bean Core goods between work surfaces that move relative to each other. To achieve this object, a device with the features according to

The device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has two mutually
The two
The detail A from FIG. 1 shown in FIG. 1 on a larger scale shows one of the possible configurations of the circumferential surface of the
The design of the projections on the disks and the type of formation of the roughened peripheral surface can vary depending on the type of core material and the quality thereof. The
In another form of the
In the embodiments of the disks according to FIGS. 1-5, the projections are symmetrical with respect to a diameter line running to the tip of the projection, i.e. the two flanks of each projection run at an equal angle to the diameter line. According to FIG. 6, in a further variant of the configuration, however, the
As can be seen from FIG. 2, in all embodiments with a plurality of
Furthermore, alternating thick and thin slices can be arranged one behind the other on each shaft, the sequence on the shafts being such that a thin slice is always opposed by a thick one. An embodiment which differs from the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 is shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 and has a plurality of
