Description
The invention relates to a heat-sensitive recording sheet in which the color image and the whiteness of the background are surprisingly well stabilized against the adverse effects of hair oil, fat, oil, etc.
A heat-sensitive recording sheet using a heat color reaction between a basic colorless or lightly colored chromogenic dye and an organic color developing agent such as a phenolic substance or an organic acid is disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No.
4160/1968 und 14039/1970, und in der japanischen Offenlegungssehrift Nr. 27736/1973 beschrieben. Es findet vielfältige praktische Anwendung.4160/1968 and 14039/1970, and described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 27736/1973. It has many practical uses.
A heat-sensitive recording sheet is generally prepared by placing on the surface of the support,
wie Papier, Film usw. eine Beschichtungsfarbe, aufbringt, die durch Einzelvermahlung und Dispergierung eines farblosen ohromogenen Farbstoffs und eines Farbentwicklungsmaterials, phenolischer Substanzen, zu feinen Teilchen, durch Vermischung der erhaltenen Dispersionen und durch Zugabe eines Bindemittels, Füllers, Sensibilisierungsmittels, Gleitmittels und anderer Hilfsmittel erhalten wurde.such as paper, film, etc., a coating paint, which by grinding and dispersing a colorless ohromogeneous dye and a color developing material, phenolic substances, into fine particles, by mixing the dispersions obtained and by adding a binder, filler, sensitizer, lubricant and other auxiliaries was obtained.
When heat is applied, the coating undergoes an instantaneous chemical reaction, which leads to color formation. Different clear colors can be created depending on the selection of the specific colorless chromogenic dyes.
On the other hand, because of its function as an information recording paper, it is inevitable that a heat-sensitive recording sheet comes into contact with human hands. Since oily materials such as hair oil, sweat, etc. often stick to the hands and fingers of workers, a heat-sensitive recording sheet is often soiled by such oily materials. In general, a heat-sensitive recording sheet is not sufficiently stable against such oily materials. The phenomenon is observed that the image density of the soiled part is reduced or the image is erased and that the contamination of the background causes discoloration.
The cause of this phenomenon is not entirely clear, but it is thought that the oily materials are the color-forming layer consisting of a basic colorless chromogenic dye of fine particles and an organic color developing agent of fine particles, or the color-forming reaction product which is made of a basic colorless chromogenic Dye and an organic color developing agent is formed, partially dissolve or destabilize.
As already mentioned, the heat-sensitive recording sheets in which 4-hydroxybenzoic acid ester or 4-hydroxyphthalic acid diester are used are superior in the above fundamental qualities, but in terms of stability to oily materials, they are superior to the previous heat-sensitive recording sheets in which Bisphenol compounds can be used as color developing agents.
The invention has for its object to provide a heat-sensitive recording sheet in which the recording image is very stable against the action of oily materials.
- R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are the same or different and each have an H or halogen atom, a N0 2 - or C 1 -C 6 alkoxy group, a straight or branched alkyl radical having 1 to 6 C atoms or one
- M represents a polyvalent metal; and n represents an integer 2 or 3. The above metal salt of a nitrobenzoic acid brings about both very good color development and superior stability of the recording image, so that it can be used as a color developing agent and / or can improve stability in combination with other color developing agents.
There are no particular restrictions on color developing agents other than the metal salts of nitrobenzoic acid used in the present invention, but the effects of this invention are significant when monophenolic 4-hydroxyphenyl compounds and / or phthalic acid monoesters are used as the color developing agent.
They offer several advantages, e.g. improve the quality of the heat-sensitive recording sheets considerably, effect clear recording with high image density, no adhesion of residues to the thermal head, no sticking of the heat-sensitive recording sheet to the thermal head, superior recording quality, less color formation of the background over time, etc.

Such color developing agents are superior in terms of the quality required in principle, but have a disadvantage that they are inferior to the bisphenol compounds which have hitherto been used in terms of stability to oily materials.

The following dyes from the black color developing fluoran dyes give a heat-sensitive recording sheet with a little low image density: 3-diethylamino-6-methyl- (para-chloroanilino) fluorane, 3-diethylamino-7- (ortho-chloroanilino) fluorane, 3- (N-ethyl-P-to-luidino) -6-methyl-7-anilinofluorane, 3-dibutylamino-6-methyl- (ortho-chloroanilino) fluorane, 3- (N-ethyl-isoamyl) -6-methyl - anilinofluoran etc.
But the image density and the stability to the action of oily materials are improved by adding the metal salt derivatives of nitrobenzoic acid according to the invention. In addition to the fluoran dyes, other basic colorless chromogenic dyes can also be used according to the invention will. Examples of such basic colorless dyes are: crystal violet lactone, methyl violet lactone, 3- (4-diethylamino-2-ethoxyphenyl) -3- (1-ethyl-2-methylindol-3-yl) 4-azaphtalide, 3- (4 -Diethylamino-2-ethoxyphenyl) -3- (1-ethyl-2-methylindol-3-yl) -7-azaphthalide and the like. In such basic colorless dyes using the monophenolic 4- H occurs ydroxyphenylverbindungen or phthalic acid monoester as color developing agent is a thermochromic phenomenon in which the color image is extinguished immediately or slowly. Therefore, these dyes cannot be used in heat-sensitive recording sheets. However, it was found that this thermochromism phenomenon etallsalzderivate by use of the invention M of nitrobenzoic acid is eliminated, thereby making it possible to use the above basic colorless dyes.
When using the erfindungsgemäBen metal salt derivatives as organic color developing agent is obtained the nitrobenzoic acid together with at least one substance from the group consisting of crystal violet lactone, fluorene-leuk o dyestuff and azaphthalide leuco dye is a superior stability to oily materials.
