Abstract

1. Process for producing a package for receiving a plurality of individual articles, especially cigarette packs (30), grouped to form part packs, in an outer wrapping formed from a blank (33), characterized in that part Packs (rows of packs 31, 32) lying above one another and of approximately equal size are spaced from one another by means of an intermediate holder (58), the blank (33) is folded in regions in a V-shaped manner in between the part packs (rows of packs 31, 32) lifted off from one another, by means of a folding blade (59) movable to and from and is pushed in, with the intermediate holder (58) simultaneously being retracted, and subsequently the remaining blank parts are folded round the part packs (rows of packs 31, 32).

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a packaging for accommodating a plurality of individual objects grouped into partial packages according to the preamble of claim 1.
From US-A-3 092 301 a package is known in which at least two folding boxes are formed from a common blank, which are connected to one another at adjacent package edges by perforation lines and can be separated from one another if necessary. This packaging is completely finished before the cigarettes can be filled into it. This means that two work steps are required, namely firstly producing the packaging and then filling the cigarettes. In addition, only cartons can be made from rigid blank material by the known method.
From US-A-3 241 738 divisible containers are known which have different sizes for accommodating different individual objects. These containers are also only filled after manufacture. These therefore also have the disadvantages mentioned above.
When packaging cigarettes, it is customary to form larger packaging units, namely cigarette sticks, from a plurality of cigarette packs combined. Usually ten packs of cigarettes are combined to form a cigarette stick, which is encased by a paper or cardboard blank, so that a "double packaging" is created. The peculiarity now consists in the fact that the cigarette stick can be divided up while maintaining the packs that can be handled individually, so that a smaller unit, in particular a "half stick" can be distributed, exhibited or sold.
Although the packaging known from US-A-3 092 301 and US-A-3 241 738 can also be divided for the above-mentioned purpose, the use of these containers or cartons has the disadvantage that when they are arranged they are more finished Cigarette packs here two separate packs are necessary. This unnecessarily leads to considerable packaging effort.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to create a method by which packaging of the type mentioned at the outset can be produced with simple measures and low material expenditure.
To achieve this object, the method has the measures of claim 1. In contrast to the prior art, the outer packaging, namely the outer wrapping, is placed around the partial packs in this method, so that the entire packaging is finished with the production of the outer wrapping, that is to say the cigarettes or cigarette packs no longer have to be filled in subsequently . In addition, the outer casing can be produced particularly easily according to the inventive method, because the contents of the pack, that is to say the partial packs, have a significant influence on the desired shape of the outer casing.
  • Die Unteransprüche betreffen vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen des Verfahrens. The subclaims relate to advantageous developments of the method.

The drawings show exemplary embodiments of packaging that can be produced by the method according to the invention in different stages of manufacture. This packaging is cigarette packaging.
It is a question of accommodating several individual cigarette packs 30 in a larger package, a cigarette rod. In the embodiment shown, a total of ten cigarette packs 30 are combined to form a cigarette rod. The cigarette packs 30 are grouped into two pack rows 31 and 32 in such a way that the cigarette packs 30 are oriented transversely to the longitudinal direction of the cigarette rod with their longitudinal extension. The cigarette packs 30 are arranged lying flat within the pack rows 31, 32.
The group of ten cigarette packs 30 in total is encased by a common blank 33 (FIG. 8). This can consist of paper, cardboard or a suitable film or a laminate product. The Blank 33 is designed and folded in such a way that the pack rows 31 and 32, that is to say the entire pack content, are completely enclosed.
Diese Halbstangen 34, 35 sind bei dem Ausführungsbeispiel der Fig. 1 bis 8 vollständig ringsherum eingehüllt mit Deckwandungen 36,37 Längsseitenwandungen 38 und 39 sowie Stirnwandungen 40 und 41.Furthermore, the wrapping is designed in such a way that each row of packs 31, 32 is given a certain degree of independence, in such a way that partial packs are formed by separating or dividing the pack, in the present case half-bars 34 and 35, which accordingly each contain a row of packs 31 and 32 five cigarette packs 30) as content. In the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 8, these half-rods 34, 35 are completely encased all around with cover walls 36, 37 longitudinal side walls 38 and 39 and end walls 40 and 41.
The common, one-piece blank 33 (FIG. 8) is placed around the two rows of packs 31, 32 in such a way that the connected top walls 36 of the two half-bars 34 and 35 lie one on top of the other during the complete packaging (FIG. 1 and FIG. 4), namely in the area of a division level 42 for the packaging. The connection of the two top walls 36 is detachable or severable. For this reason, a cutting field 43 forming the two top walls 36 is provided in the center with a dividing line 44, which consists of a perforation or of separating cuts 45 with residual connections 46. The thus formed cutting field 43 of the blank 33 connects the two half rods 34 and 35 to one another, the dividing line 44 extending centrally in the region of a side surface 47 formed by the two longitudinal side walls 39 of the complete packaging.
The complete cigarette rod (Fig. I) is formed in the present case in that the half-rods 34 and 35 are not only connected to each other in the region of the dividing line 44 of the common blank 33, but also by further releasable connections - in the present case several punctiform Glue points 48, which are on the side of the half-rods 34, 35 remote from the dividing line 44 on the facing cover walls 36 of the two half-rods 34, 35 are attached. These releasable connections result in a stable packaging (cigarette stick) that is commercially available as a unit, essentially with the conventional appearance (FIG. 1). Alternatively, it is possible to split the cigarette rod to form the half-rods 34, 35. In the exemplary embodiment discussed here, the half-rods 34, 35 must first be pivoted into a common plane by loosening the glue points 48 (FIGS. 2/3). Now the blank 33 is to be cut in the area of the dividing line 44. In the present case, a special breaking effect is used (Fig. 3). The two half-rods 34, 35 are supported against one another with the longitudinal side walls 39 facing one another, with supporting edges 49, 50 of the two half-rods 34, 35, in particular, located away from the dividing line 44, which facilitate the (manually carried out) breaking effect via these supporting edges 49, 50.
This packaging is set up for special tax regulations, such as those applicable in the United States. It is a question of providing the individual cigarette packs 30 in the region of end faces 51 with a tax stamp or an imprint after the (extensive) completion of the cigarette rod. For this reason, a provisional closed position of the cigarette rod is first formed here, as can be seen in FIGS. 4 and 12.
The cut parts forming the common side surface 47 (with dividing line 44) of the cigarette rod are, on the one hand, the (strip-shaped) longitudinal side walls 39 and, on the other hand, a connecting edge strip 52 or 53 which adjoins them in each case of the top walls 36 and the wrapped cigarette packs 30. The connecting edge strips 52, 53 are connected to the associated top wall 36 by glue points.
The above-mentioned intermediate closing position according to FIGS. 4 and 12 looks such that side closing flaps 54 and 55 formed from the longitudinal side walls 39 and the connecting connecting edge strips 52, 53 are detachably connected to one another with mutual overlap. For this purpose, glue points 56 are attached to the connecting edge strip 53, which bring about this releasable closure according to FIG. 12. To attach the tax number or other markings to the end faces 51 of the cigarette packs 30, the side closing flaps 54, 55 are pivoted into a position approximately as shown in FIG. 11 or as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 4, so that a suitable device is attached the end faces 51 can be brought.
According to this measure, the final version of the cigarette rod according to FIG. 1 is produced, the connecting edge strips 52, 53 being folded inwards in the manner mentioned.
In the manufacture of the present packs (cigarette sticks) from a blank 33 according to FIG. 8, for example in the sense of FIGS. 9 and 10, the procedure can be such that the blank 33 is separated from a continuous web and fixed on a lower stop 57 in an upright position becomes. The two pack rows 31 and 32 are fed in a horizontal plane, with respect to FIG. 9 perpendicular to the plane of the drawing. The pack rows 31 and 32 are kept apart from one another by an intermediate guide 58. The blank 33 is pre-folded approximately V-shaped by a folding sword 59 and by plate-shaped counterholders 60 and 61 arranged above and below the pack rows 31, 32 with oblique or pointed folding edges 62, the folding being in the region of the dividing line 44. In the further course, the part of the blank 33 forming the cover walls 36 is between the Packs of rows 31, 32 folded (FIG. 10) when the intermediate guide 58 is withdrawn accordingly. The rows of cigarettes are supported laterally by counterholders 63, 64. At the same time, the longitudinal side walls 38 are pre-folded in the blank 33 by further folding members, not shown in detail, so that the rows of packs 31, 32 are covered at the top and bottom by finally horizontally directed blank parts (Fig. 10/11). The package is thus completed in the execution of the provisional closed position according to FIG. 12, the end walls 40, 41 being folded over in a suitable manner by known folding members.
As already mentioned, the connection of the side closing flaps 54, 55 is opened again to form the salable version of the cigarette rod. For the folding of the connecting edge strips 52, 53 into the final position, the rows of packs 31, 32 (encased by the blank 33) are spaced apart (FIG. 13) by appropriately designed and movable spreading strips 65 and 66. These also expose the mutually facing, edge-side regions of the cigarette packs 30 so that the connecting edge strips 52, 53 extending in a common lateral plane can be folded against the mutually facing sides of the cigarette packs 30 by associated folding tongues 67, 68 (FIG. 13). After the spreading strips 65 and 66 and folding tongues 67, 68 have been pulled back, the pack rows 31, 32 which are still at a distance are compressed, that is to say moved against one another, so that the construction of the cigarette rod according to FIG. 15 already described is given. The top walls 36 are also connected to one another by the previously activated glue points 48.
