Definitions
- the invention relates to a two-chamber pack according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- Two-chamber packs of this type - commonly called aerosol cans or containers - are described for example in DE-A-26 28 926.
- the flexible inner container usually consists of plastic or soft metal and takes up its full volume corresponding to its capacity even when empty - the container is therefore hollow or not compressed.
- One of these can be seen in the fact that the size of the inner container relative to the outer container is subject to considerable restrictions, since j a the inner container must be inserted into the outer container through the usually relatively narrow opening. This means that only relatively low filling levels (ratio of filling volume to total volume of the package) can be achieved and that, on the other hand, when the inner container is completely filled, inadmissible stresses can occur in its wall.
- the present invention is now intended to provide an improved two-chamber pack of the type defined at the outset, which in particular permits filling with a residual gas-free filling with a higher degree of filling also by the product manufacturer who is less familiar with aerosol technology and in particular also under sterile conditions.
- the pack should preferably also be as inexpensive as possible.
- the two-chamber pack shown essentially consists of a dimensionally stable outer container 1 made of aluminum, a lid 2 with a dispensing valve 3 with a riser pipe 31 and a flexible inner container 4.
- the cover 2 is fastened in the usual way to the flange 11 of the outer container 1 by means of a so-called clinch connection.
- a blowing agent T which is under excess pressure, usually an easily liquefiable gas such as Freon R or the like.
- the pack shown corresponds to conventional aerosol packs, for example roughly the one described in DE-A-26 28 926.
- the most important difference compared to these known packs now consists in the design of the inner container 4.
- This does not consist, as in the conventional packs, of a plastic or metal container which takes up a volume corresponding to its capacity, but is designed as a flat film or laminate bag and moreover folded up.
- the foil bag itself is essentially rectangular and consists of two correspondingly shaped metal foils 41 and 42, plastic-laminated on both sides, which are welded to one another along their peripheral edges 43 and 47 (FIG. 2).
- the plastic lamination can be inside, for example. from the material Surline from Du Pont, outside eg. be made of polyethylene.
- the film material comes, for example. Aluminum in question.
- the film bag 4 extends essentially over the entire usable height of the outer container 1, the dispensing valve 3 being sealed between the two upper transverse edges 43 and 47 of the bag (FIG. 3).
- the film bag can be equipped with a tightly welded valve adapter 44, which is then plugged onto an appropriately designed extension piece 32 on the dispensing valve 3 (FIG. 5).
- the riser pipe 31 can either be attached to the dispensing valve 3 and then extend through the valve adapter 44 into the laminate bag or else be attached or molded directly to the valve adapter 44 itself.
- the width of the laminate bag in the unfolded state is substantially larger than the diameter of the outer container 1, so that the capacity of the inner container 4 or film bag is approximately 20% larger than the volume of the outer container.
- the laminate bag 4 can be conveniently inserted into the outer container 1, as already mentioned, it is folded approximately according to FIG. 4.
- two banderoles 45 made of an easily tearable material, which then break open when the bag is filled and thus release the unfolding.
- the laminate pouch can also be kept in shape due to its own elastic properties with a suitable choice of material. It may be sufficient to warm the bag slightly when folding it.
- the two-chamber pack is assembled in such a way that the propellant T is first introduced into the outer container in a liquefied form and then the unit pre-assembled from the cover 2, the dispensing valve 3 and the laminate bag 4 attached to it is inserted into the outer container 1 and then the cover is inserted is usually attached tightly to the container.
- the package is thus empty, but is under the pressure of the blowing agent T.
- This so-called “prepowered package” can then be charged in a manner known per se with the desired filling material through the discharge valve 3 under excess pressure.
- This filling process does not require any special knowledge and experience specific to aerosol technology, so that it can also be carried out by the manufacturer of the filling product himself, who usually does not have such special know-how.
- a particular advantage of the two-chamber pack according to the invention is that the inner container is completely free of air regardless of the degree of filling. Any residual air can be expelled before filling by briefly opening the dispensing valve due to the medium pressure. This property is particularly important for filling goods that must not come into contact with air during storage in the package. In addition, the absence of residual air also leads to a more beautiful spray effect.
- the two-chamber pack according to the invention is also particularly suitable for filling under sterile conditions. It may be appropriate to bag 4, for example. to be sterilized by ⁇ -radiation and to provide the dispensing valve 3 with a protective cap 33, as is shown, for example, in FIG. 6. The filling can then take place under absolutely sterile conditions with a filling needle directly through the protective cap 33, the latter acting as a kind of septum. 6 shows a design of the dispensing valve 3 which is particularly favorable for these purposes but can also be attached to the valve in the embodiment shown in Fig.l.
- FIG. 6 shows, for example, a favorable arrangement in a gradation 35 in the part 32 of the valve 3 projecting into the laminate bag 4.
- lateral openings 46 can be provided in this.
- the laminate pouch 4 does not necessarily have to be flat, but can also be designed as a so-called standing pouch with a bottom, which may even increase the degree of filling under certain circumstances.
- the laminate bag 4 is considerably more flexible and opposes its deformation to a much lower resistance than conventional inner containers. This means that a lower pressure and therefore less propellant is required for the delivery of the filling material. In addition, the laminate bag is cheaper than conventional inner containers and has the other advantages mentioned above.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a two-chamber pack according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Two-chamber packs of this type - commonly called aerosol cans or containers - are described for example in DE-A-26 28 926. In the previously known two-chamber packs, the flexible inner container usually consists of plastic or soft metal and takes up its full volume corresponding to its capacity even when empty - the container is therefore hollow or not compressed. This has various disadvantages. One of these can be seen in the fact that the size of the inner container relative to the outer container is subject to considerable restrictions, since j a the inner container must be inserted into the outer container through the usually relatively narrow opening. This means that only relatively low filling levels (ratio of filling volume to total volume of the package) can be achieved and that, on the other hand, when the inner container is completely filled, inadmissible stresses can occur in its wall. In addition, there is always a certain residual volume of air in the inner container, which is undesirable or inadmissible in many cases. Another disadvantage is that the previously known two-chamber packs can practically only be assembled and filled by specialists with relevant special know-how. Filling by the product manufacturer is generally not possible, especially under sterile conditions. In the end the inner containers used so far are also relatively expensive.
The present invention is now intended to provide an improved two-chamber pack of the type defined at the outset, which in particular permits filling with a residual gas-free filling with a higher degree of filling also by the product manufacturer who is less familiar with aerosol technology and in particular also under sterile conditions. The pack should preferably also be as inexpensive as possible.
The two-chamber pack according to the invention which meets these requirements is described in claim 1. Preferred embodiments and further configurations result from the dependent claims.
- Fig. 1 einen Axialschnitt durch eine erfindungsgemässe Zweikammerpackung,
- Fig. 5 und 6 vergrösserte Ansichten von zwei Detailvarianten.
- 1 shows an axial section through a two-chamber pack according to the invention,
- Fig. 2-4 detail sections along lines II-II to IV-IV of Fig.l and
- 5 and 6 are enlarged views of two detail variants.
The two-chamber pack shown essentially consists of a dimensionally stable outer container 1 made of aluminum, a
Aluminium in Frage. So far, the pack shown corresponds to conventional aerosol packs, for example roughly the one described in DE-A-26 28 926. The most important difference compared to these known packs now consists in the design of the inner container 4. This does not consist, as in the conventional packs, of a plastic or metal container which takes up a volume corresponding to its capacity, but is designed as a flat film or laminate bag and moreover folded up. The foil bag itself is essentially rectangular and consists of two correspondingly
The film bag 4 extends essentially over the entire usable height of the outer container 1, the dispensing
The width of the laminate bag in the unfolded state, measured transversely to the longitudinal axis or height of the outer container, is substantially larger than the diameter of the outer container 1, so that the capacity of the inner container 4 or film bag is approximately 20% larger than the volume of the outer container. This has the advantage that an extremely high degree of filling (up to 90% and more) can be achieved without any unacceptable stresses occurring in the laminate bag.
So that the laminate bag 4 can be conveniently inserted into the outer container 1, as already mentioned, it is folded approximately according to FIG. 4. In order to keep it in its folded form, it is provided with two
The two-chamber pack is assembled in such a way that the propellant T is first introduced into the outer container in a liquefied form and then the unit pre-assembled from the
This so-called "prepowered package" can then be charged in a manner known per se with the desired filling material through the
A particular advantage of the two-chamber pack according to the invention is that the inner container is completely free of air regardless of the degree of filling. Any residual air can be expelled before filling by briefly opening the dispensing valve due to the medium pressure. This property is particularly important for filling goods that must not come into contact with air during storage in the package. In addition, the absence of residual air also leads to a more beautiful spray effect.
Since the inner container or laminate bag 4 is completely free of air, the two-chamber pack according to the invention is also particularly suitable for filling under sterile conditions. It may be appropriate to bag 4, for example. to be sterilized by γ-radiation and to provide the dispensing
It is of some importance for the perfect, complete removal of the filling material from the laminate bag 4 that the inlet openings 34 of the dispensing
Of course, the laminate pouch 4 does not necessarily have to be flat, but can also be designed as a so-called standing pouch with a bottom, which may even increase the degree of filling under certain circumstances.
The laminate bag 4 is considerably more flexible and opposes its deformation to a much lower resistance than conventional inner containers. This means that a lower pressure and therefore less propellant is required for the delivery of the filling material. In addition, the laminate bag is cheaper than conventional inner containers and has the other advantages mentioned above.
