Definitions
- the invention is based on a brush holder device according to the preamble of the main claim.
- the base plate on which the brush holders are arranged is provided with holding means for fastening the busbar.
- the base plate and thus the brush holder is, however, attached to a different part of the electrical machine than the field winding, which is connected to the busbar.
- it is therefore disadvantageous that manufacturing tolerances of the brush holding device or parts carrying the field winding cannot be compensated for.
- Tensions occur at the connection point between the busbar and the field winding. If the field winding is soldered to the busbar, the solder joint can break. If the field winding is detachably fastened to the busbar, additional means for compensating for the axial and radial deviations of the connection point on the field winding and busbar are required.
- the brush holder according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that the field winding can be attached to the busbar without tension, regardless of the axial and radial deviations from the field winding and the housing accommodating it, as well as the brush holder with the busbar and the device holding bearing cover, which in turn closes the housing of the electrical machine.
- Another advantage is that the busbar is accommodated on the brush holders in a space-saving manner and is suitable for automatic assembly and is radially and axially resilient to the longitudinal axis of the electrical machine.
- the measures listed in the subclaims permit advantageous developments of the brush holding device specified in the main claim.
- the receptacle for the busbar can be formed directly on the brush holder, and the busbar can be held in the receptacle by spring means.
- FIG. 1 shows a part of the electrical machine with a first embodiment of a brush Holding device, partly in section
- FIG. 2 shows the brush holding device in section along the line II-II in FIG. 1
- FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 1
- FIG. 4 shows part of the electrical machine with a second exemplary embodiment of the brush holding device, partly in section
- FIG. 5 shows a section along the line VV in FIG. 4.
- the brush holder has a metal bearing plate 1 in which a central bore 2 is formed.
- a drive shaft 4 which carries a commutator 3, of an electrical machine, for example a starting motor of a starting device for internal combustion engines, projects through the central bore 2.
- a recess 5 is provided for one brush holder 6 each.
- each brush holder 6 made of metal with a substantially rectangular cross section have a bent-out tab 7 on one narrow side, which has an end bent approximately parallel to the narrow side.
- a slot 8 is formed which is open towards the commutator 3 and from which a strand 9 of a brush 10 is led out.
- the brush 10 is guided over its entire length in the brush holder 6. It rests with one end face on the commutator 3 and on its other end face lies one end each of two brush pressure springs 11, which are also accommodated in the brush holder 6.
- the other end of the brush pressure springs 11 supports from a bracket 12.
- the strip-shaped bracket 12 has a U-shaped recess 13 in the middle and bent ends of the U-legs, which form the system for the brush pressure springs 11.
- the bracket 12 is inserted with the recess 13 inwards into the brush holder 6.
- Two tabs 14 are formed on the broad sides of the spring-side edge of the brush holder 6, which are bent on the outside of the bracket 12.
- the bracket 12 is held in the brush holder 6 in the radial direction to the longitudinal axis of the starting device.
- a slot 15 which is open toward the spring-side end, is provided on both broad sides of the brush holder 6, a slot 15, which is open toward the spring-side end, is provided.
- a receiving part 16 made of insulating plastic for a busbar 17 is inserted into the slots 15 and the recess 13 of the bracket.
- the receiving part 16 also has a U-shaped cross section. Two webs 18 are formed on the outside of its legs. The webs 18 run perpendicular to the bottom of the receiving part 16 and lie against the inside of the broad sides of the brush holder 6. The receiving part 16 is narrower than the width of the slots 15, so that it can be moved together with the bracket 12 parallel to the broad sides of the brush holder 6.
- the brush holders 6 are each received on an insulating part 19 made of plastic.
- the insulating part 19 has a tab 20 formed on its underside which has an end running approximately parallel to the underside.
- the brush holder 6 is placed on the insulating part 19 so that the tab 7 of the brush holder 6 engages around the tab 20 of the insulating part 19.
- the brush holder 6, brush pressure springs 11 and bracket 12 containing brush holder 6 is arranged together with the insulating part 19 on the bearing plate 1.
- the tabs 7 and 20 protrude through the associated recess 5.
- the brush pressure springs 11 hold the Brush holder 6 with the insulating part 19 on the bearing plate 1 by pushing the brush holder 6 and insulating part 19 radially away from the commutator 3 so that the tab 20 of the insulating part 19 abuts the outer side of the recess 5 and the end of the tab 20 hook-shaped around the edge the recess 5 engages.
- the substantially semicircular busbar 17 made of non-insulated conductor material is received in three receiving parts 16, which are used on three brush holders 6.
- the busbar 17 is in each case a limited amount in the circumferential direction and radially to the longitudinal axis of the starter in the receiving part 16 of the middle brush holder 6 displaceable and pivotable about the receiving part 16 of the middle brush holder 6.
- the ends of the busbar 17 are guided in the receiving part 16 of the brush holder 6 receiving the opposite plus brushes 10.
- the associated strands 9 of the plus brushes 10 are fastened to the busbar 17, for example by resistance welding.
- the strands 9 of the two minus brushes 10 are attached to the bearing plate 1 as a ground connection.
- the brush holding device designed in this way is automatically preassembled and forms a complete structural unit with all the brushes 10 that are already connected.
- the structural unit is only to be connected to a current connection 21 of the excitation winding 22 of the starting motor 4.
- the busbar 17 is provided with a cranked connection area 23 in which a through hole 24 is formed.
- the power connection 21 extends with its end provided with a threaded hole 25 into the connection area 23 of the Busbar 17, where the power connection 21 of the excitation winding 22 is fastened with a screw 26 to the busbar 17, which is connected to the plus brushes 10.
- a bearing cap 27 is placed over the assembly, to which the bearing plate 1 of the brush holding device forming the assembly is screwed with screws 28.
- the bearing cap 27 lies against the end face of the housing 29 of the starter motor with the interposition of a seal and is known per se and not attached in more detail to the housing 29 of the starter motor.
- the field winding 22 is fastened in the housing 29 and the brush holder on the bearing cap 27.
- displacements of the power connection 21 of the excitation winding 22 with respect to the connection area 23 of the busbar 17 of the brush holder can occur in the radial, axial and circumferential direction, so that the holes 24 and 25 are not aligned.
- a nonetheless forced connection would cause stresses at the welding points 9, 17; 9, 1 and shear force on the screw 26 and on the bearing plate 1, 5 and brush holder 6, insulating part 19, 20, which lead to damage to the starting device.
- the busbar 17 is movably inserted in the receiving parts 16 used on three brush holders 6 in an inventive manner.
- Equalization in the radial and circumferential direction takes place by moving the busbar 17 in the plane in which it is guided in the receiving parts 16.
- the receiving parts 16 together with the bracket 12 are moved parallel to the broad sides of the brush holder 6.
- the brushes pressing springs 11 exerted force acts on the tabs 14 via the brackets 12. This causes friction forces between the brackets 12 and the tabs 14 when the receiving parts 16 are moved with the brackets 12.
- the frictional forces caused by the brush pressure springs 11 also ensure that the busbar 17 is held firmly in the screwed position, which is particularly necessary in the case of rough operation in motor vehicles.
- a second embodiment of the brush holder the parts that are the same as those in the first embodiment are given the same reference numerals.
- Four brush holders 31 are formed from insulating plastic and each provided with a hook 32 which protrudes on a narrow side of the brush holder 31.
- a recess 33 is formed on the other narrow side and the back of the brush holder 31. It serves as a receptacle for the busbar 17 and is somewhat wider than the busbar 17.
- a slot 34 which is open toward the commutator 3 is formed on each broad side of the brush holder 31.
- the strand 9 of a brush 10 guided in the brush holder 31 is led out of each of the slots 34.
- the brush 10 is pressed against the commutator 3 by a brush pressure spring 35.
- the spring 35 is supported on the bottom of the brush holder 31. As with the first execution, it also stops play the brush holder 31 in its position on the bearing plate 1.

Abstract
