Abstract

A permutation lock wherein a locking bolt is reciprocable in a housing between extended and retracted position. The housing contains a set of coaxial tumblers rotatable by a cam having a lobe which can move the bolt to extended position through the medium of a coupling lever which is pivotally connected with the bolt. The coupling lever can be pivoted to an operative position, in which it extends into the path of movement of the lobe on the cam, only when at least one of the tumblers is moved from a predetermined position in which a notch in its peripheral surface is out of alignment with similar notches in the peripheral surfaces of the other tumblers. The bolt is movable to the retracted position by a locating lever which is pivoted to the bolt and has a pallet receivable in a recess of the lobe only when all of the notches are aligned with each other so that they can receive a finger which is provided on the locating lever and extends in parallelism with the common axis of the tumblers.

Description

The invention relates to a permutation lock with a cam disk which can be actuated by a rotary knob for setting a plurality of tumbler disks which can be adjusted to any setting secrets and are provided on their circumference with an insertion recess each, with an engagement lever articulated on a bolt which has a nose or the like engaging on the circumference of the cam disk. and has a lateral finger, which is arranged transversely over the circumferences of the tumbler disks, wherein for the entry of the finger into the associated recesses of each tumbler disk, when these are aligned with one another under the finger, an aperture for the latch lever is provided on the circumference of the cam disk, and wherein a cam of the cam disc is also provided for moving the bolt into its closed position.

Permutation locks of this type are known, for example, from DE-OS 23 20 816 and DE-OS 28 16 969. With such permutation locks, it is possible to exclude the bolt with the help of the rotation of the cam disk, that is to say to move it into the closed position so that the tumbler disks are not yet twisted or rejected. It can be used for the frequent user ses permutation lock are a convenience, because he then does not have to set the digit sequence according to the setting secret to reopen the lock. Such a bolt, which is closed or closed, of course, does not fulfill its function properly. “Excluding” the bolt is understood to mean the closing movement that brings the bolt out of the lock into its closed position in the lock counterpart.

There is therefore the task of creating a permutation lock of the type mentioned, in which, after the locking of the latch, the fingers can no longer fall into the recesses of the tumbler disks until the setting secret has not been completely reset.

The solution to this problem essentially consists in that a clutch is provided on the bolt, which can be moved out of the region of the cam cam path or the like. Drive element for the bolt movement, which coupling only after at least partially twisting at least one tumbler disc in the coupling position, ie can be brought into the region of the path of the cam or the like, only then to convert the rotary movement of the rotary knob into a displacement of the bolt in its closed position. The principle of the invention is thus practically to delay the bolt movement by the releasable intermediate coupling mentioned and by disengaging it until at least one tumbler disc is rotated sufficiently far by the turning of the knob in the closing direction to prevent the finger of the lever in the orderly and aligned recesses could again occur. The user of the lock thus inevitably rotates at least one, or several, in the case of a configuration of the invention described later, when the locking movement of the bolt is carried out.

It is particularly expedient if the coupling is fastened to the bolt and is preferably designed as a pivotable coupling lever which can be pivoted into its coupling position, in particular by means of a projection or the like located on a tumbler disc. In this way, it can be realized very simply in terms of construction that at least one tumbler disc must first be rotated before the rotation of the rotary knob also leads to a displacement of the bolt in its closed position.

To carry out the teaching according to the invention, it is advantageous and expedient if the length of the lever which can be lifted out from behind a locking stop prior to the rotation of the tumbler disks for carrying out the closing movement can be changed. This ensures that the rotary knob is rotated and the lever and its finger can be lifted out of the recesses in the tumbler discs without the bolt already being moved. First and foremost, a shortening of the drop lever is possible, so that the drop area having the nose can already be raised and brought behind the locking stop without the corresponding movement of the lock taking place at the other end. If the initially delayed bolt movement is then carried out, the drop lever is lengthened again accordingly. This can be achieved in a particularly simple manner in that the drop lever is designed as a toggle lever attached to the bolt, one of the toggle levers of which is articulated directly on the bolt and can be swung up when the drop lever is raised while shortening the entire drop lever.

In the region of the top position of the toggle joint, a stop can be provided on the side facing the bolt for extending the insertion lever when the bolt is excluded. Is the knob twisted so far That the clutch lever has been pivoted into the functional position, the further rotational movement leads to the aforementioned exclusion movement of the bolt, which leads to a corresponding displacement of the articulation point of the toggle lever arm of the drop lever the entire toggle lever and thus the drop lever is stretched again. After a certain stretch, even the toggle joint can fall into its final locking position due to gravity.

Permutation locks of this type are only properly locked per se, ie as securely as possible, when the drive cams of the tumbler disks are in succession in one direction of rotation against a stop. This means that when a permutation lock is closed, the rotary knob must be turned a corresponding number of times in the closed position, namely one more turn than it corresponds to the number of tumbler disks. Even if such a permutation lock is locked to such an extent that the finger of the lever can not immediately fall back into the recesses of the tumbler disks, but the above-mentioned larger number of turns has not yet occurred, at least if the rotary knob is turned again by an unauthorized person on the difference between the individual numbers of the setting secret. A further development of the invention of very special importance copes with this additional problem while at the same time improving the solution to the problem mentioned at the outset by virtue of the fact that the projection for actuating the clutch element or clutch lever interacting with the cam disk, at least on the second cam, as seen from the cam disk, preferably is arranged on the last tumbler disc. This means that the knob must be turned so often to exclude the bolt that several, preferably all tumbler disks have theirs reach the respective stop and then no conclusions can be drawn as to the opening secret. If the protrusion is on the last tumbler, all tumblers must really be turned out of their open position before the coupling for the locking bar's exclusion movement comes into operation. However, this means that the sloppy closure of the lock described at the beginning is not possible, and conclusions about the secret of opening can be made possible if the rotary knob is not turned frequently enough.

In addition, the locking position of the bolt is often monitored by electrical means. However, this is of no use if the lock is not twisted into a really secure position, i.e. if the tumbler disks are not yet all discarded. The present invention therefore has the additional advantage that such bolt monitoring can now be carried out in a really sensible manner.

Developments of the invention and in particular constructive embodiments of the levers, projections, pawls and. The like. are the subject of further claims.

The invention is described in more detail below with its details that are essential to it, using the drawing. It shows:
  • 1 shows a partial cross section through a permutation lock according to the invention, the bolt being excluded,
  • 2 shows a view of the lock according to FIG. 1, the drop lever resting on the outer circumference of the tumbler disks and being held behind its locking stop,
  • 3 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 2 of the opened lock after the bolt has been retracted by means of the cam disk and the nose of the drop lever,
  • Fig. 4, the permutation lock during the first phase of the closing movement, in which the drop lever shortens, but the clutch lever is not yet in the clutch position, and
  • 5 shows the permutation lock at the moment of engaging the clutch lever and engaging the corresponding actuating cam of the cam disc on this clutch lever shortly before the bolt is moved back into the closed position according to FIG. 1.

A permutation lock, designated as a whole by 1, hereinafter also referred to as lock 1 for short, has a cam disk 3 which can be actuated by a rotary knob (not shown in more detail) via a shaft 2 for setting a plurality of tumbler disks 5 which can be adjusted to any setting secrets and are provided on their circumference with a recess 4 each Furthermore, the lock 1 has an engagement lever articulated on a bolt 6, generally designated 7, which has a nose 8 engaging on the circumference of the cam disk 3 and a lateral finger 9 which is arranged transversely over the circumferences of the tumbler disks 5, wherein for the entry of the finger 9 into the associated recesses 4 of each tumbler disc 5, when these are aligned with one another under the finger 9, an incidence opening 10 for the lever 7 is provided on the circumference of the cam disc 3. A cam 11 is also provided on the cam disk 3 for moving the bolt 6 into its closed position.

In all figures it can be clearly seen that on the bolt 6 one from the area of the path of the cam 11 Cam 3 movable clutch - in the embodiment, a clutch lever 12 to be described in more detail below - is provided, which only after at least partially turning at least one tumbler plate 5 in the clutch position (Fig. 5), i.e.'h. is brinbar in the area of the path of the cam 11. The clutch is attached to the bolt and, as already mentioned, is designed as a pivotable clutch lever 12 which can be pivoted into its clutch position in particular by means of a projection 13 located on a tumbler disc 5 a (see FIG. 1) via a linkage to be described . When the bolt is excluded from its position shown in FIGS. 3 to 5 into the closed position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the rotary knob and the shaft 2 must be turned until a corresponding number of tumbler disks 5 and 5 a are also turned, 4um to produce the clutch between the cam disc 3 and the bolt 6. Only then the bolt 6 is excluded, so that until then a sufficient number of tumbler disks 5 and 5 a with their recesses 4 are discarded for a secure closure of the lock 1, in order to avoid an immediate engagement of the finger 9 without having to set the opening secret again.

Especially with reference to FIG. 4, it can be seen that the length of the lever 7 that can be output from the tumbler disks 5 and 5 a prior to the closing movement being rotated to carry out the closing movement can be changed. The aforementioned rotation of the tumbler disks causes the nose 8 of the drop lever 7 to be raised from the cam disk 3. But because the bolt 6 is not yet supposed to get into the closed position, but the drop lever is already raised to its locked position in order to get out of the area of the drop openings 10 with its finger 9, this is a particularly useful and useful device.

In the exemplary embodiment, it is provided that the drop lever 7 is designed as a toggle lever attached to the latch 6, one of the toggle levers 15 of which is articulated directly to the latch 6 and when the drop lever 7 is lifted out, the entire drop lever is shortened to the position shown in FIG. 4 can be swung up. In the region of the top position of the toggle joint 16, a stop 17 is provided on the side facing the bolt 6 for extending the drop lever 7 when the bolt 6 is excluded. If the bolt 6 is shifted from the position shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 in the direction of the arrow Pf 1 by the rotation of the cam plate 3 according to the arrow Pf 2 via the cam 11 and the clutch lever 12 is transmitted to the bolt 6, it does Swivel joint 18, via which the toggle lever leg 15 is attached to the bolt 6, with this movement. However, the toggle lever 16 cannot follow this movement because of the stop 17, so that the drop lever is inevitably at least partially stretched. After a certain extension, namely when the swivel joint 18 has moved away from under the toggle joint 16, the drop lever can fall into the extended position shown in FIG. 2 due to the force of gravity, but this can also be supported by a spring 32.

The projection 13 designed as a pin in the exemplary embodiment, which could of course also be a recess into which a pin or the like from the other side. Element can occur, and serves to actuate the clutch lever 12 cooperating with the cam disk 3, is arranged in the exemplary embodiment on the last tumbler disk 5 a seen from the cam disk 3, so that all tumbler disks must first be rotated before the clutch lever 12 is engaged in the clutch 5 arrives and the bolt 6 can be excluded by further rotation of the shaft 2. This embodiment enables So under no circumstances such a close exclusion of the bolt 6 that the lock 1 could be opened again immediately without re-setting the opening secret. At the same time, conclusions on the difference between the individual opening numbers are made impossible from the outset by this measure.

The coupling lever 12 articulated on the bolt 6 has two end positions which can be releasably fixed. This can be done in a manner not shown with the aid of locking balls and the like. In addition, a magnet 19 engaging the clutch lever 12 itself or its actuating linkage is provided for the top position of the clutch lever 12, that is to say its disengaged state. This can hold the clutch lever 12 securely in the up position, but exerts practically no force on this lever after adjusting the clutch lever in the clutch position, in contrast to a return spring.

The cam 11 of the cam disk 3 is shaped and rounded, in particular in its upper region at the transition 20, into the contour corresponding to the outer circumference of the cam disk 3, so that when the bolt 6 is closed to open the lock 1 on the corresponding one chamfered and also rounded end 21 of the clutch lever 12 engages and pivots this upwards. It is readily understandable and recognizable in the figures that when the cam disc moves against the arrow Pf 2, the area 20 detects the cam-shaped end 21 of this clutch lever when it protrudes into the contour of the cam disc 3 according to FIG a further rotation to the position shown in FIG. 3, where the clutch lever 12 can then be held by the magnet 19.

The actuating linkage already mentioned several times, via which the clutch lever 12 is again in the clutch position arrives, is formed in the exemplary embodiment in that on the inside of the cam disc 3 facing away from the inside 22 of the lock housing or lock case . 23 a control lever 24, which can be acted upon by the pin-like projection 13 of the tumbler disc 5 a, for controlling the clutch lever 12 - in the exemplary embodiment on a stud 25 - is mounted, which control lever 24 preferably has a slot guide 26 into which a pin 27 connected to the clutch lever 12 ( cf. especially Fig. 1) intervenes. However, it would also be possible to rigidly connect the bearing pin 28 of the clutch lever 12 to the latter and to the bolt 25, so that the pivoting movement of the control lever 24 would be transmitted directly to the clutch lever 12 via such a bolt.

In the exemplary embodiment, the control lever 24 consists of a partly stamped, partly folded sheet metal part, the guide slot 26 being formed by angled legs 29. These legs 29 for forming the guide slot 26 could also be attached to a corresponding control lever 24.

It should also be mentioned that a counter force directed against its locking movement, i.e. against the arrow Pf 1, preferably engages a spring which is greater than the force for shortening the drop lever 7, so not with the bolt 6 running smoothly Shortening the drop lever 7 can result in a premature, at least partial exclusion of the bolt 6 in the direction of the arrow Pf 1.

The toggle lever geometry of the drop lever 7 is chosen so that when the drop lever 7 is stretched in the locked position according to FIG. 2, the imaginary connecting line from the locking edge 30 of the drop lever 7 to the swivel joint 18 on the bolt 6 extends above the toggle lever joint 16 and that the connecting line from that At Grip point 31 of the cam 3 on the nose 8 of the drop lever 7 to the swivel joint 18 on the bolt 6 runs below the middle toggle joint 16, with a support 32 is provided for the toggle joint 16 down to fix this position '. If an attempt is now made to push the bolt 6 back out of its locked position into the lock, self-locking occurs in the drop lever 7 designed as a toggle lever, in which the toggle joint 16 is only pressed more firmly onto its support 32, while the locking edge 30 of the toggle lever is at the same time firmly attached the locking stop. The bolt 6 is thus locked in a desired manner until the drop lever 7 can enter the corresponding drop recesses 4 in a conventional manner. This position of the locking lever in the self-locking position can be additionally secured by a spring 33, which spring is also provided in the manner already mentioned for supporting the extension movement of the drop lever 7.

In order to avoid undesired collisions between the pin-like projection 13 and the control lever 24 in the event of incorrect operation, an actuating pawl 34 is provided on the free end of the control lever 24, the front side 35 of which is concave, this concave curve region of the front side 35 being arranged in such a way that that in the disengaged state (cf. especially Fig. 4) the pivoting circle of the projection 13 located on the tumbler disc 5 a, while in the coupled state (cf. Fig. 5) this contour of the pawl 34 with the pivoting path of the outermost point or the outermost surface line 36 of the projection 13 of the tumbler 5 a roughly corresponds. 5 or 2 in the clutch position of the clutch lever 12 on this pawl 34 can be moved back and forth as often as desired, while in the position according to FIG the projection 13 and the front 35 of the pawl 34 is formed, so that the control lever is then pivoted downward from the position shown in FIG. 4, as a result of which the clutch lever 12 is moved in the desired direction in its clutch position. The center point of the circular arc forming the concave contour of the end face 35 of the pawl 34 of the control lever 24 lies in the exemplary embodiment to the side of the imaginary center line through the pawl 34 and its swivel bearing 37, so that the contour into the coaxial position only becomes when the control lever is pivoted into the coupling position reaches the center of the cam disk 3.

The pawl 34 is namely pivotally mounted relative to the control lever 24, the pivoting path of the pawl 34 on this control lever 24 in the direction of the coupling movement being limited or prevented by a stop 38 and a counterforce in the opposite pivoting, in the exemplary embodiment the force of a Spring 39 is to be overcome. This makes it possible to turn the tumbler disc 5 a with the projection 13 in the position shown in FIG. 4 against the direction of the arrow Pf 2 without damage to this projection or the pawl, because then the pawl 34 Projection 13 can escape under tension of the spring 39.

The bolt movement itself is formed in a known manner by a guide pin 41 engaging in an elongated slot 40 and a projection 43 connected to the bolt and sliding on the inside of the lock case 42.

All of the features and construction details shown in the description, the claims and the drawing can have significance that is essential to the invention both individually and in any combination with one another.
