Im Betrieb wird das Schleudergut über einen Kanal 15 dem einen Ende des Trommelinnenraumes zugeführt. Nach Einführen in den Trommelinnenraum wird das Schleudergut der Zentrifugalkraft der Zentrifuge unterworfen, so daß sich die Feststoffe radial außen ablagern und die flüssige Phase bzw. Klarphase über einen Auslaß 16 abgeleitet werden kann. Auf einem im Trommelinnenraum angeordneten Verdrängungskörper'20 kann ein Filter angeordnet sein, über das die Klarphase- in den Auslaß 16 gelangt. Durch die axiale Verschiebung der Trommelhälfte 12 ist es möglich, das radial außen befindliche Schleudergut zusammenzupressen, so daß es radial nach innen klare Flüssigkeit abgibt und dadurch die Feststoffkonzentration des im Trommelinnenraum befindlichen Schleuderguts erhöht wird. Zweckmäßigerweise ist die verschiebbare Trommelhälfte 12 so ausgebildet, daß sie den über den Verdrängungskörper 20 in die Zentrifugentrommem mündenden Zulauf bei der Verstellung zur Verkleinerung des Trommelinnenraumes verschließt, so daß in der Endphase des Betriebs kein Schleudergut mehr in die Trommel gelangt. Auf dem Verdrängungskörper 20 ist zweckmäßigerweise wenigstens im Bereich des Auslaufs ein Sieb oder Filter angeordnet, das außer der Filterwirkung auch den Zweck hat, nach einer bestimmten Betriebsdauer im Zulauf einen Druckanstieg zu bewirken, der für Steuerungszwecke der Zentrifuge verwendet werden kann.In operation, the centrifuged material is fed to one end of the drum interior via a
