Abstract

Iron or alumina cement contains calcium oxide, aluminum oxide, iron oxide and manganese oxide. The manganese is present in an amount of 5-50 wt.% and the mole ratio of the calcium oxide to the sum of the remaining metal oxides is 00.9-2.5:1. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of an iron or alumina cement comprising mixing an aluminum-containing material and a manganese-containing material with limestone; calcining the product obtained and crushing the calcined product. The calcined product contains 1-50 wt.% manganese.
