Abstract

With gas operation, the gaseous fuel is mixed with the charge air. The engine operates as a low pressure gas engine and additionally an ignition jet is fed with diesel oil via a stage of the injection valve (6) located in specific planes (XX,YY). The nozzle holes (21,22 and 19,20) of this stage for the ignition jet are dimensioned to supply one per cent of the total combustion energy. With diesel operation, exclusively diesel oil is fed via the nozzle holes (19-22) of the fuel injection nozzles (7), using both stages. The pressure injection function is adjustable via the individual stages of the fuel injection nozzles via a common rail system.
