DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
The invention relates, in particular, to a gas turbine which cooperates with a fan an exhaust gas turbine and preferably an exhaust gas turbocharger. In such arrangements it is known an insulation between the parts heated by the hot gases during operation on the one hand and the rest of the turbine system, in particular the bearing housing, on the other hand. Such However, insulations initially only delay the ίο heat transfer, but without sufficient To effect cooling. In addition, it is also known to generate special air currents, which to protect the bearings and other parts of the turbine. The creation of this special, However, cooling air flows require an additional expenditure of energy, which reduces the profitability of the Overall system reduces. Finally, you also have those on the circumference of a blower equalizing piston escaping air is routed around the machine bearing. However, this arrangement also required large amounts of air, because the circumferential gap on the compensating piston is proportionate for reasons of tolerance must be wide; as a result, considerable energy losses also occur here.
According to the invention, the turbine housing is now on the outside with an insulating material -

Layer provided that borders on a layer of air, which on the one hand to a point of the fan seal and on the other hand to the outside air, is closed. So the turbine housing is from two layers enclosed, namely first a layer of insulating material and above it by a layer of air.
Sie ist so gering, daß die übliche Leckluftmenge einer Gebläsedichtung für die Lufterneuerung innerhalb der Luftschicht völlig ausreicht, wogegen die sonst üblichen Kühlluftströme im Vergleich zur Leckluftbenutzung einen erhöhten Arbeitsaufwand erfordern.ίο to reduce the propellant of the gas turbine and nevertheless the temperature-sensitive parts of the system with practically no expenditure of power to protect against heating. The insulating layer insulates the heat transfer, so that on the one hand the Heat loss of the propellant of the gas turbine and on the other hand the heat absorption of the air layer be reduced. Inside the layer of air that separates the fan seal and the outside air in contrast, only a slow renewal of the air takes place due to the low pressure difference to the otherwise usual cooling air flows. This slow renewal of air is sufficient to remove the 'insulating jacket dissipate penetrating heat; but it is much less than in known arrangements. It is so small that the usual amount of air leakage from a fan seal for air renewal within the air layer is completely sufficient, whereas the otherwise usual cooling air flows in comparison require an increased amount of work to use leakage air.
The air space is preferably with its outer edge to the fan seal and with its inner edge connected to the outside air, so that a radially from the outside to the inside walking airflow is generated.
It is particularly useful to connect to the outside air via the turbine seal, in which case the air gap then opens out into the turbine seal. This achieves that the supplied air flows through the turbine seal on both sides and out of the seal outward leaking waste gas is air and not a turbine operating gas.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically. It is an exhaust gas turbocharger, since the invention makes it possible to do so special advantages are brought.
Die AbdichtungThe shaft 1 carries on the one hand the turbine runner 2 and on the other hand the fan runner 3. It is by means of the bearing 4 (shown here as a ball bearing) in the bearing housing 5, to which on the one hand the turbine housing 6 and on the other hand the fan spiral. 7 are flanged. The waterproofing

According to the invention, the turbine housing 6 is now thermally separated from the rest of the machine installation, specifically the thermal insulation is assigned to the housing wall facing the bearings or the fan. The insulation is formed by an insulating seal 11 on the centering flange on which the turbine housing 6 is connected to the bearing housing 5. On the remaining surface of the wall 'of the turbine housing 6 opposite the bearing housing 5, an insulating layer 12 is applied, which can consist of any insulating material. Between the insulating layer 12 and the bearing housing 5 there is an air gap 13 for further thermal separation. In order to prevent the air in the air gap 13 from heating up, it is advisable to constantly renew this air. The leakage air from the fan seal 8 is used for this purpose. This is removed from an annular channel 21 by means of one or more bores 22 and fed to an outer annular space 23. From this (it passes through a pipe 214 into the air gap 13. In order to ensure a uniform supply over the entire circumference of this air gap, an annular gap 24 a can be provided at the junction part outer boundary surface of the annular gap 24 a can zu.sein instead of cylindrical lead, as far conically outwards, that the air supply is actually made at the outermost edge of the gap. 13 from here the air through the gap 13 flows radially inwardly and passes through one or several bores 25 into an annular gap 26 of the turbine gap seal 8. From here the leakage air flows out in both directions through the seal gap Leakage air enters the annular space 27 in the direction of the bearing housing, from where it passes through one or more channels 28 into the interior 29 of the bearing housing outlet. From there it can escape to the outside via a vent connection 30.
The configuration according to the invention reduces the air requirement for protecting the machine system against the temperature of the turbine exhaust gases to less than 10% of the usual amount of cooling air lowered. The use of leakage air has the advantage that quantities of air are lost anyway can still be made usable for cooling purposes.
