It is known that the chain link is connected to one of the contact electrodes on such machines to preheat the transmitted welding current running essentially axially to the wire,
When you squeeze, a shunt is created for the butt ends of the chain wire, through which the welding current also flows, and the joint under pressure is heated to welding temperature, whereby the weld is made.
When using this method, the use of relatively expensive facilities avoided for the inductive heating of the workpiece, but must be used during the Welding process, the energy-consuming shunt are accepted, which is used for Welding point piece of the chain link connected in parallel, calculated from electrode to electrode, forms. This has the further disadvantage that the entire chain link as a result of this shunt it also continues to heat up during the actual welding process and is therefore so soft becomes that it can be impermissibly deformed under the action of the upsetting force. You would do without preheating, so a full concern of the butt welded wire ends, which is the prerequisite for a defined
Diese Verfahren erfordern aber einen wesentlich größeren technischenned contact resistance at the welding point cannot be achieved, so that the welding energy could not be dosed with sufficient accuracy, resulting in defective welds can. These deficiencies avoid the well-known methods in which the The workpiece is heated inductively or externally by a resistor. These procedures require but a much larger technical one
ίο Aufwand.ίο effort.
By applying the invention, it is possible with the relatively simple described Resistance welding machine to weld chain links in the burn-off process without the aforementioned Deficiency occur. The invention relates to a method for resistance flash-off welding of chain links, especially made of steel and iron alloys, and consists of the Combination of the following known features:
a) Zunächst erfolgt die Vorerwärmung der zu verschweißenden Werkstückenden mittels eines senkrecht zur Werkstückachse quer durch das Werkstückende fließenden Stromes;a) First, the workpiece ends to be welded are preheated by means of a Current flowing perpendicular to the workpiece axis across the workpiece end;
b) anschließend wird der Vorwärmungsstrom abgeschaltet und die Abbrenn-Schweißung und der Schweißstromdurchfluß in Achsrichtung über die Schweißstelle vorgenommen;b) then the preheating current is switched off and the flash-off welding and the welding current flow is carried out in the axial direction over the welding point;
c) für den Vorwärmstrom wird ein Hochfrequenzstrom verwendet;c) a high-frequency current is used for the preheating current;
d) als Schweißstrom dient Strom von Netz-Frequenz. d) The welding current is mains-frequency current.
The use of features a) and b) is only known in the form that for electrical welding of two workpieces of different size and strength, namely to create a welded joint between a thin one Leaflet or pencil and part of the surface of a long prismatic body, this body is initially preheated by a stream flowing approximately in the longitudinal direction of its axis, to the harmful effect of the different heating rate in the two different large workpieces during the subsequent welding by a penetrating the welding point To balance electricity. It has also been suggested for the same purpose, currents parallel to the welding surface in the larger workpiece and welding currents across the welding surface to use both workpieces at the same time.
In contrast, the invention is used to prepare chain links for flash welding one not parallel, but perpendicular to the chain link axis and not in one, but in Both workpiece ends using flowing currents, not to achieve a uniform Heating both ends of the chain link - this does not require any special means - but rather rather, in order to achieve a targeted heating of the limbs, thus with the subsequent upsetting of the link ends with switching to axial welding current via the Welding point immediately a defined, full concern of the unprocessed chain link ends and so that there is a low contact resistance for the actual welding current, so that on the other hand the resistance of the shunt path over the connected chain link so far is enlarged that the aforementioned disadvantageous heating of the entire chain link, which previously resulted in a reduction in size and twisting of the two arches of the chain link when they are compressed has led, practically no longer occurs, while at the same time the weld occurs more quickly and takes place with a higher degree of efficiency than in the case of the previously known methods, since the contact surfaces penetrating welding current, which is by far the predominant in each work cycle Share of the energy supplied, due to the low contact resistance, now almost exclusively via the welding point and only flows over the shunt path in a practically negligible part. These advantages are achieved through the use of high-frequency electricity for preheating and mains frequency The current for welding is significantly increased, because the targeted heating during preheating is made by the use of high frequency, the energy of which is due to the current displacement essentially only spreads in the surface layer of the joints, further improved, while the contact surfaces penetrating welding current is low-frequency and consequently all areas of the welding point evenly heated to the welding temperature.

As can be seen from the figures, the two link ends 5 and 6 each have two Electrodes. 7, 8 and. 9 applied by. which the fourth electrode in Fig. 2, right, through the electrode 9 is covered. The electrodes 7 and 8 rest on one end of the link 5, while the Electrodes! 9 rest on the link end 6. In such a way that the Hauptauf lageflächen.en the Electrodes are essentially opposite each other in wire cross-section! As from the drawing can be seen, the current is now switched on preheating first in such a way that the Electrode 7 den, one pole and electrode 8 the corresponding one; Hold opposite pole while the two Electrodes 9 are connected in a corresponding manner. The current therefore runs in the direction of the arrow through the limbs, which is designated as a cross in Fig. 2.
Hierbei fließt also der Strom in. After preheating has been carried out, the poles are switched so 'that pole 7, for example, the (+) - and pole 9 contains the · (-) - pole. Here flows thus the current in the direction of arrow 11 in, Fig. 2. iss In the same way, the poles 8 and the
deckte Pol 9 untereinander zu einem Stromkreis zusammengeschlossen, so· daß also der eigentliche Schweißstrom durch die beiden Gliedenden in Längsrichtung hindurchgeht.covered pole 9 connected to one another to form a circuit, so that the actual Welding current passes through the two link ends in the longitudinal direction.
