The invention relates to a saddle suspension for combined saddles
for bicycles and motorcycles.
It has been shown that in the known constructions of this type, the elastic mounting of the seat cushion provided by longitudinal springs is often insufficient. That's why you have earlier. proposed that these longitudinal springs be additionally elastically supported by a resilient bridge arranged on the saddle frame. These springy bridges; which, according to the known arrangements, consist of a rotatably mounted bracket under the action of tension or compression springs, or which can be formed from a curved rubber bridge, are also known. These known elastic bridges have generally also proven themselves. however, it has been found that with long saddles, i.e. H. In the case of combined driver and pillion saddles, these known elastic bridges are not always sufficient, since - especially when there are significant weight differences between the driver and the front passenger - the seat surface was not properly cushioned in one case or the other.
unterschiedliche Abfederung.
To eliminate the disadvantages inherent in the known arrangements, it is proposed according to the invention that the elastic bridge serving to support and guide the support springs extending in the longitudinal direction of the saddle be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the saddle. This gives a different level of cushioning. If this bridge is further forward, i. H. shifted towards the driver, the result is a softer cushioning for the pillion seat, since the lever arm for the load on the pillion seat becomes longer. If, on the other hand, the bridge is shifted to the rear of the combined driver and pillion seat, a correspondingly harder cushioning of the pillion seat is obtained.
This simple adjustability of the suspension is achieved according to a further feature of the invention in that a strong piece of sheet metal with longitudinal slots is arranged on each of the two longitudinal bars of the saddle frame. The two ends of a z. B. arched bridge or bridges can be attached to this by means of bolts with thread, which reach through the longitudinal slots of the sheet metal pieces mentioned. To protect the two ends of the arched bridge made of strong sheet rubber, they can be covered with sheet metal caps or the like. As there is without the further saddle frame from the drawing in a known manner from a steel tube 3. Between the front and rear ends of this saddle frame extend well-known zigzag curved and slightly upwardly curved suspension springs i, on which the seat cushion of the saddle seat rests . About in the middle these zigzag-shaped curved suspension springs are through. an arched bridge: 2 made of sturdy sheet rubber supported or guided. In its uppermost part, this arched bridge carries a rail 8 which is arranged transversely to the longitudinal extension of the suspension springs i and which can be covered with a rubber strip 7 as required. The two ends of the arched bridge 2 made of sheet rubber are fastened by means of screws, bolts or the like 6 in the longitudinal slot 5 of an elongated sheet metal strip 4. This slotted sheet metal strip 4 is z 3 of the saddle frame insoluble approximately in the middle of the two longitudinal spars. B. connected to this by welding. If one now wants to move the arched bridge 2, the bolt or bolts 6 are loosened somewhat, whereupon the bridge 2 can be moved further forwards or backwards. The bridge 2 in the desired position j in each case is fixed again by tightening the bolts. 6 Instead of simple nuts, wing nuts can also be used which allow the fastening bolts 6 to be loosened or tightened without the use of a tool.
