Description

The invention relates to a magnetic lens provided with pole shoes for a corpuscular beam apparatus, especially an electron microscope. With such short focal length lenses On the condenser side there is an undesirable short focal length pre-lens, which is the original Condenser aperture greatly changed, mostly enlarged. According to the invention is for compensation this pre-lens caused by the decaying main lens field is the adjacent pole piece of the Interrupted objective and arranged here an air gap of such a size that about 20 to 5 ο o / o the total magnetic force on this additional 'borrowed air gap is omitted. Through this compensation lens, which lies exactly axially to the objective lens becomes the parallel incident from the condenser Radiation initially refracted towards the axis. After passing through an axis intersection, the Radiation into the unwanted pre-lens and is then refracted by it again in such a way that the Object is hit with approximately parallel radiation. By applying the in the invention applied auxiliary or compensation lens, the electron-optically advantageous working with the Object position close to the maximum of the field strength curve allows. One can use the invention preferably design in such a way that the pole piece of the objective facing the pre-lens consists of two in the beam direction Magnetic parts lying one behind the other, which are supported by a non-magnetic intermediate piece are joined together to form a single body. In this way it succeeds with one single common excitation magnet to operate the compensation lens and the lens.

Furthermore, the advantage is achieved that the compensation lens can be arranged in the device essentially without any additional space requirement. The invention can be used with all electron-5 optical devices that are used for the investigation of Serving objects, applying them. The objective system will preferably be designed in such a way that a handy, easily replaceable pole shoe insert body is produced in a manner known per se ίο easily inserted into or removed from the device can be.

As an embodiment of the invention, the figures show a pole piece insert body for a Electromagnetic lens of an electron microscope of the type in which the insert body can be removed from the side of the microscope for the purpose of changing the object.

The pole shoe insert body has an upper pole shoe ι and a lower pole shoe 2. These pole shoes are fastened in a holder 3 which, with the help of a rubber seal 4, is inserted into a corresponding lateral opening of the microscope wall, not shown, can be used so that the Pole shoes are exactly in the optical axis of the device. The middle part of pole pieces 1 and 2 is designed as exchangeable cone parts 5 and 6. The upper pole piece 5 consists of two in the beam direction one behind the other parts 29 and 30, which are through a non-magnetic intermediate piece 31 are assembled to form a uniform pole piece. This construction will the pre-lens on the condenser side is compensated in the manner described above. the Parts 5 and 6 are attached to the pole pieces using screws 7 and 8, respectively. The holes 9 of parts 5 and 6 are on. the narrowest point has a diameter of less than 0.4 mm. The same applies to the distance between the two surfaces facing each other in the construction shown 10 and 17 of the pole piece tips selected to be smaller than 0.4 mm. With a brass molding is referred to, which is attached to the pole piece 1 with the aid of screws 13 is. The lower pole piece 2 is a brass fitting 14 assigned to that in the figure is supported against the pole piece 2 with the aid of a compression spring 15, as can be seen. With the help of Part 14 is the slide 16, which as a laterally slide-out tongue is formed, pressed firmly against the brass part 12, so that vibrations of the microscope during recording cannot be harmful. That In the exemplary embodiment, the object itself is prepared on the underside of the slide plate 16. The brass molded part is used to prevent the object from being scraped off when the slide tongue is inserted τ 4 at 17 omitted accordingly. Radial displacements of the resiliently supported molded part 14 are prevented by a guide 18.

The slide tongue is with the help of the screws 19 attached to a holder 20, which with the help of the movable bellows 21 sealed to the outside will. The movement of the object can be performed from the outside with the aid of the adjustment device 22 be performed. The adjusting screws shown in FIG. 3 are used for the lateral movement of the object 23 provided.
