Schaltarbeit AS = fuB i dt klein wird (uB = Lichtbogenspannung,
i = Strom).
Arc rectifier It is known that the reignition of an alternating current arc after the current has crossed zero can be prevented by generating a flow of extinguishing agent. More detailed investigations have shown that for this purpose the pressure fluctuations generated in closed chambers by the arc itself are used or that extinguishing agents modulated in pressure are supplied to the arc from the outside To influence the extinguishing agent flow, while the rest of the time, let the extinguishing agent run. Then one achieves that the switching work AS = fuB i dt becomes small (uB = arc voltage, i = current). With little switching work: the amount of energy that has to be absorbed by the electrodes and the extinguishing agent is also small. Therefore, ionization between the electrodes will also be low, making reignition more difficult. The flowing extinguishing agent essentially has the effect that it r. the base of the arc and the electrodes cools, 2. removes energy by diffusion into the current-carrying core of the arc, 3. removes the charge carriers from the zone of highest temperature and facilitates their reunification and the formation of complexes and q .. the connection of the highly ionized Path: tears. The task: to control the extinguishing agent flow so that its speed near the current zero, passes at its greatest, while the current maxima: on the other hand is almost zero, is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the chamber system is located in a ring pressure line with a generator the pressure supplied to it by the generator and modulated synchronously with the frequency of the current to be rectified. supplements the pressure generated by the arc so that the flow rate of the extinguishing agent in the point of the shortest electrode distance each time during the rising branch and on both sides: the maximum value of the current curve of the current essentially destroyed, but is briefly amplified by the current zero crossing of the current curve and has its maximum value during the zero value of the current.

Two vessels with a common wall in which there is an opening, or
have a vessel that is constricted like an hourglass on both sides of the constriction
or the partition wall one electrode each. The vessel volumes are unequal, as well as the
Distance between each electrode and the constriction. Also is a facility
provided, which allows continued extinguishing agent from one chamber or chamber part

By, the arc current creates a sin2-shaped pressure difference between
chambers created; a constant back pressure would be at the beginning and end of the current half-wave

An application example is shown in FIG. I: The insulating body ca has two cavities: which are connected to one another via a narrow channel. The upper cavity is elongated and of small cross-section, so small volume; , the lower cavity is short, but its cross-section and volume is large. The hollow electrodes b and c are fitted in the cavities, which enclose the coils d and e and are connected to the pressure generator via the insulating tubes f and g. At h and i, current is fed to and removed from the electrodes. A cooler h, closes off at the pipe f : the extinguishing agent can be sucked in by the compressor L, which is driven by the synchronous motor m, and pressed into the pipeline through the valve (or the slide) n. A pressure-tight container can be connected as a buffer between the compressor and the valve.
The valve n is shown in section in FIG. The extinguishing agent flows out of the compressor l in the direction of the axis into the rotating circular slide o and passes through the openings in the cylindrical surfaces when they meet the openings in: the ring p, and then through the annular cavity of the housing q after Flow nozzle r. The ring p has on the outer. A worm gear toothing, in, this engages the worm s. The can be turned by the shaft t by means of the handwheel u . By adjusting the ring p: the point in time at which the extinguishing agent flow begins or at which it ends can be set during operation. The temporal course of the flow can be determined by appropriate shaping of the passage openings in the bodies o and p as well as by their number and positions in relation to one another. If a more even pressure is to be superimposed on the variable pressure, a bypass line can either be arranged parallel to the valve n through which a constant stream of extinguishing agent flows, or the inner diameter of the ring p can be made larger than the outer diameter of o, so, that between the two remains an annular cavity through which a constant stream of extinguishing agent can flow. By this measure, the wear of the parts that would otherwise slide on one another is avoided at the same time. How it works: When the rectifier is started up, the compressor L is first driven by the synchronous motor m. The rotating slide o generates a periodically fluctuating flow of extinguishing agent, the course of which over time is given by the slide construction and the phase position of which is set by adjusting the ring p. Once the synchronous speed has been reached, an arc is then initiated between electrodes b and c of the rectifier by means known per se. This arc produces a heating of the extinguishing agent proportional to the square of the instantaneous current and thus a pressure which is proportional to this heating. When the current increases, the long part of the bend in the narrow chamber becomes a high pressure, while the short part of the bend in the larger chamber becomes a smaller one. Generate pressure. If the current has exceeded its maximum and approaches the zero value, then the small volume of extinguishing agent cools down faster than the large one, and the resulting overpressure is now in the opposite direction as before. If an external counterpressure is superimposed on this pressure generated by the arc itself (by the compressor), and the counterpressure is approximately as large as the current increases. that resulting from the arc, the flow of extinguishing agent will be small during this time; If the direction of pressure is reversed as the current decreases, the externally supplied pressure is added to the self-generated pressure.
