Description

(WiGBl. S. 175)(WiGBl. P. 175)

AUSGEGEBEN AM 22. DEZEMBER 1952ISSUED DECEMBER 22, 1952

The invention relates to the production of structures, such as filaments, films, hollow articles, tapes, having improved properties of regenerated cellulose by deformation of viscose.

It is known that the general strength and quality of viscose threads can be reduced by reducing the improve the original swelling of the gel fibers. The great importance of the gel swelling factor Viscose spinning has only been recognized in recent years (see e.g. the American Patents 2,347,883 and 2,347,884). It has now been shown that it can be used for the commercial production of Viscose rayon is essential to the composition of the viscose and the composition of the Set sulfuric acid precipitation bath so that the production of regenerated cellulose threads with a Gel swelling factor of no more than about 6.5 is possible. It was also found that in one given viscose the properties of the thread, such as strength, extensibility, softness, etc., ao usually best when spinning at or near the point of least gel swelling takes place. It has also been found that the properties of the thread are which can improve the gel swelling factor as below the above-mentioned value of 6.5. One can even say in general that it is so Adjust more pronounced improvements, the greater the reduction of the mentioned factor. at the already proposed methods for reducing the gel swelling factor are the precipitation bath Zinc sulfate or iron, manganese or chromium sulfates added (American patents 2,364,273, 2,347,883 and 2,347,884). Despite an improvement in technology achieved as a result, the thread properties are but not yet satisfactory.

It is well known that unripe viscose, i. H. Viscose with a salt point of about 7 or hSher, they are not spun using processes that are commonly used in industry for spinning normally ripened viscose, d. H. those with a salt point of about 5 to 6 'or less, use Find. The viscose ripeness is determined here as well as in later information according to the salt point method measured according to Lotze. This is the high original gel swelling of animals made from immature viscose Ascribing threads, although the high degree of xanthate formation in immature viscose, to the is reflected in relatively high salt point values, based on theoretical considerations for the spinning of the viscose would have to be regarded as entirely expedient. Another Problem consists in making unripened viscose spinnable. This is extremely desirable because the use of unripened viscose means a reduction or elimination of the ripening time is required according to today's manufacturing practice. As a result, there are procedures for further degradation the gel swelling factor of unripened viscose, and in particular processes that allow further improvements of the thread properties are particularly important.

The invention therefore relates to a method for producing regenerated cellulose threads with lower Gel swell values than previously achievable and with considerably improved, new and valuable ones Thread properties, whereby a method can be used in which unripened viscose is spun in a conventional spinning device and results in high quality threads. Further concerns the Invention the production of regenerated cellulosic filaments of high strength and high fatigue resistance with a non-grooved surface and high resistance to dirt and abrasion. The above-mentioned objects are achieved in that one viscose, the at least 1 and suitably contains no more than 4 "millimoles per 100 g of viscose of an alkali-soluble monamine which has at least 4 carbon atoms and no radical with more than 6 carbon atoms in one aqueous sulfuric acid spinning bath containing up to 15% zinc sulfate deformed. The structures obtained in the spinning process expediently run through second bath by stretching them by at least 20%.

At least 0.3% of that used according to the process Monamins should be soluble in 6% sodium hydroxide solution.

It is known to add certain secondary and tertiary amines to the spinning baths or viscose, to prevent or at least reduce the incrustation of the spinnerets, (British patent specification 533 309). However, the solubility of the amines mentioned in viscose is far too low (less than 0.1%), than that a noticeable reduction in gel swelling could thereby be achieved. So there was no Reason to assume that the alkali-soluble monamines according to the invention on the viscose spinning process and / or the thread properties would have any influence. Even less could it is expected that the use of such substances will result in the gel swelling of the threads among those previously known Lower the minimum value and the production of high-strength threads with entirely new properties both ripened and unripened viscose would allow.

The invention is illustrated by the following examples.

The gel swelling values given below for various thread samples were all determined by the following procedure: The gel thread is applied in one layer to a spool with the aid of a manually operated thread layer, the thread being stretched 80 ° / 0 in the hot immersion bath. The sample is then centrifuged (1400 revolutions per minute) for 1 minute, cut and weighed in a sealed bottle. The sample is then washed free of acid, dried weighed in an oven at 105 0 and again. The ratio of the gel weight to the cellulose weight (grams of gel per gram of cellulose) is then referred to as the gel swell. The method can also be modified, e.g. B. with regard to the stretching, the spinning speed or the length of the bath passage, but this only leads to minor changes in the numerical values of the gel swelling.

Another important fiber property is the factor listed below as the D value. This factor relates to the rate of neutralization of the viscose thread in the precipitation and regeneration bath. It is determined by looking at the viscose adding a suitable indicator, in this case bromocresol purple (pn value 5.2 to 6.8) and in Centimeters is the distance from the spinneret at which the purple color is completely in the running thread disappears. This distance is the D value. The selected amines which are used according to the invention find, reduce the neutralization speed of the filaments, so increase the D value compared to that of unmodified viscose. It has been found that the thread properties generally improve with increasing D-value. It is believed that the enlarged D value is an indication that the modifying agents according to the invention are more dehydrated the viscose before the gel structure of the thread goes into the solidification state.

Beispiel 1example 1

Alkalicellulose, die bis zur Erreichung der gewünschtenContaining viscous 1.0 millimoles of triethanolamine per 100 g viscous, is using 7 ° / 0 cellulose, and 6 ° / 0 Gesamtnatriumhydroxyd (7, 6-viscous) was prepared in the following manner. Alkali cellulose, which is to achieve the desired

Viscosity viscosity (40 to 60 poises) is aged, is xanthogenated using 35 ° / 0 CS 2 , based on the recoverable bone-dry cellulose, 2 1 2 hours. The lumps of xanthate are dissolved in a lye containing the triethanolamine in the abovementioned amounts. After thorough mixing at 0 °, the freshly produced viscose is filtered cold, deaerated and kept at 0 ° until spinning. The spinning takes place in the unripened state, as it is characterized by the high salt points, the high xanthate sulfur content and the low sodium trithiocarbonate content. In all examples, the suds level is given of 6 ° / 0 of the total in the form of sodium hydroxide, expressed alkalinity. This includes the amine modifier and the free sodium hydroxide as well as that bound in the form of sodium carbonate, sodium trithiocarbonate and sodium cellulose xanthate.

The viscose is spun into a thread with 100 single threads of 275 denier by being pressed through a nozzle with openings of 0.0625 mm diameter into a first precipitation and regeneration bath containing 6.0% H 2 SO 4 , 14% Na Contains 2 SO 4 and 15% ZnSO 4 . The filaments travel 70.4 cm through the bath using a roller guide. The apparatus and the general procedure used are essentially the same as in the so-called winding process. The special conditions include a bath temperature of 50 ° and a first conveyor wheel speed of 12.12 m per minute. The threads are passed through a water bath at 95 to 100 ° and are reeled out at such a speed that there is an 80 ° / 0 stretch on the other side of the feed wheel. The generated, regenerated thread is washed free of acid and salt and then treated further. The threads, which are dried on the bobbin or partially relaxed before drying by being wound on another bobbin, have a twist of 1.6 turns per centimeter and are tested after conditioning for 48 hours at 21 ° and 60 ° / 0 relative humidity.

The properties of the threads made from the viscose described are as follows Table in comparison with those of unripened, unmodified viscose and matured, unmodified viscose (the standard viscosity of the usual manufacturing process), with both comparison substances under were spun under the same conditions as the modified viscose. As you can see it is The gel swelling value of the modified viscose is lowest and its D value is highest. The, physical properties, especially dry and wet strength, are higher than the corresponding Values of the comparative viscosities.

The properties of the threads produced by the process according to the invention are similar to those that is obtained by modifying the viscose with short-chain, quaternary ammonium compounds. the The most obvious features of the modification are the changed cross-section and the surface. properties. In the case of threads made from unmodified viscose spun in zinc baths, there is one Skin or outer shell visible, which swells to different degrees in water compared to the core ·. These single thread cross-sections show deep, superficial grooves around the circumference of the thread. With threads made with monamines. according to the invention modified viscose in zinc baths on the other hand, the boundary between the skin and the core is very blurred, and There are no grooves so that the thread has a smooth surface.

The fact that the threads according to the invention have a smooth surface and a considerably smaller one Secondary swelling (water would be absorbed by the dried Threads) means a greater resistance to threading, stresses with washing, signs of fatigue and soiling than normal, grooved Show viscose threads.

The monamines according to the invention should be soluble, since it has been shown that emulsions of alkali-insoluble Amines in viscose are not effective. Complete solubility is required. Since the Composition of the viscose fluctuates, the solubility of the monamine in caustic soda is used as a solvent specified.

In addition to solubility, it is necessary that the monamines are essentially chemically inert and are not attacked by the viscose constituents prior to precipitation will. In addition to those mentioned in the examples, the following monamines are also suitable: Diethylamine, dipropylamine, butylamine, ethyl diethanolamine, dipropanolamine, propylpropanolamine, Hexanolamine, amyl diethanolamine, butylmethylethanolamine, propylethanolamine, cyclohexylethanolamine, Hexamethyleneimine, piperidine, pyridine and hexyldiethanolamine.

In order to achieve the desired results in the viscose, the amine modifiers should be used in concentrations of at least 1.0 Mülimol, expediently not more than 4.0 Mülimol, of the agent per 100 g of viscose. Calculated on a weight percent basis are to be / 0 is used between 0.1 and 1.0 ° of the amine. ' The optimal concentration for a given amine depends on its effectiveness and molecular weight. For example, higher concentrations of diethylamine than triethylamine are required. The optimum concentration will also depend to some extent on process conditions, such as the spinning speed, since at the high spinning speeds used in the industry, a smaller amount of the amine is desirable than at the lower speeds. The person skilled in the art can determine the optimum concentration of the amine compounds by means of simple experiments.

The composition of the viscose can also be changed to a large extent. It may, for example, a cellulose content of 4 to 10 ° / 0 and more, and an alkali content of 4 to 8 ° / 0 or more. Preferably used are Standardviskosen industry, ie those containing 5-7 0/0 cellulose and 4-6% alkali. The amount of carbon disulfide used in the xanthogenation can be 25 to 50%, based on the recoverable, bone-dry cellulose. It has been shown that higher than normal xanthate sulfur contents (higher salt points) can be used in the viscose when the amines described are added, and it seems to be of advantage for the stretchability of the threads and the quality of the thread properties if salt point values of more are used than 5 can be applied. One must use 30 ° / 0 or more carbon disulfide in order to obtain salt point values of 5 or above in unripened viscose. One of the main advantages of the invention is therefore that unripened or partially ripened viscose can be used, so that the ripening time and the space required by it are eliminated or can be substantially limited.

Although the use of unripened viscose in the process according to the invention is of particular importance Of interest, it has been shown that considerable improvements in thread quality can also be achieved Normally ripened viscose can be achieved, so that the process is directly related to current manufacturing practice can be applied.

Das Spinnbad enthält zweckmäßig 4 bis I2°/O Schwefelsäure, 13 bis 25%The spinning baths which can be used for the invention contain sulfuric acid, sodium sulfate and zinc sulfate. Zinc sulphate is an essential part of the spinning bath because, in its absence, the amine compounds have no effect on the spinning process or the fiber properties. Optionally, additional salts of divalent metals which are known to enhance or supplement the effect of the zinc sulfate can be used. For example, ferrous sulfate, magnesium sulfate, nickel sulfate or chromium sulfate come into consideration here. The former salt is particularly useful. The use of these divalent metal salts makes it possible to use smaller amounts of zinc sulfate than would be necessary in their absence. The spinning bath advantageously contains 4 to I2 ° / O sulfuric acid, 13 to 25%

Sodium sulfate, and ι to 15 ° / 0, suitably 3 to 5 ° / 0 Z'nksulfat and optionally 1 to about 5 ° / 0 ferrous sulfate. When amines are added to the viscose, it is possible to obtain excellent threads with bad acidities in which normal unmodified viscose gives threads of reduced quality. The temperature range that ensures the best spinnability is between 40 and 65 ° . The bath acidity and temperature are expediently kept as low as is compatible with the given spinning speed in order to obtain the best thread structure and the best fiber properties. The specified concentrations must be matched to each other and to the viscose. The highest possible total solids content is expediently maintained in the precipitation bath, so that the highest degree of gel shrinkage and improved stretchability result.
The threads can be given a long path of 3.25 to 6.25 m in the primary bath, with the help of a multiple roller arrangement that gradually keeps the threads under tension and thereby orientates them in a still plastic state. The more convenient method, however, is to perform some or all of the stretch outside of the primary bath in a secondary bath, or to use a combination of air and hot bath stretching. The secondary bath may (/ 0 to 3 ° 1) consist simply sulfuric acid from water or dilute. However, it can also have the same composition as the precipitation bath, but in a greater dilution, such as a quarter of the concentration of the precipitation bath. The temperature of the secondary bath is expediently between 50 and 100 °. Stretches of 80 to 100% are preferred in the production of threads of high strength or elongation and those of 20 to 30% ■ in threads for textiles of the usual type Spinning is done with the help of a coil, a pot or in a continuous manner. The thread wrap is washed free of acid and salt and the thread is then dried under tension. If appropriate, it can also be dried on a twisting or cutting device so that the dry elongation of the end product can be controlled. If the two-bath spinning system is used, it is expedient to pull off the freshly felled gel thread with a conveyor wheel speed that is equal to or less than the nozzle speed and to undertake the entire stretching between the driven rollers running at different speeds. The thread can be given a path of 0.25 to 1.25 m in the secondary bath of hot water or the dilute bath. As mentioned above, the amount of stretch depends on the desired properties of the thread.

The threads or fibers produced according to the process can be used in the textile or cord industry Find.
