Device for examining the crystal structure with cathode rays
for recording the diffraction rings A monochromatic electron beam has corresponding
the de Broglies relation a certain wavelength and results in scattering
through matter interference phenomena that are similar to those phenomena
that occur with X-rays. It is known the interference of electron beams
to use for the investigation of surfaces. The known facilities for investigation
with electron beams have the disadvantage that the body to be examined and the
The beam generation system must be brought into the same vacuum space.
It is therefore necessary to change the entire device every time the test body is changed
to bring into contact with the outside air and each time a tedious pumping
and to carry out degassing process.
Verwendung findet.
Elektronen von einheitlicher Geschwindigkeit;
Rohrquerschnitt einnehmende Lenardfenster
25 abgeschlossen.
Electron microscopes are also known, that is to say devices which operate according to the laws of geometrical optics, in which the object to be examined must be irradiated by the electron radiation, which are therefore fundamentally different from the device in question. At a of these known facilities it is necessary
so. that the test specimen in a very
low vacuum or in air
becomes, whereas the screen is in one
Container with high vacuum.
The test body and the luminescent screen with

seeds, evacuable container under-
because of the tension would lead to
the diaphragms, stricture coils, etc., and
because of the large dimensions and
weight that such a container has is very
persistent and difficult. Pumping the-
this container after every change of the test
body would be very time consuming.
The present facility for the
search for the crystal structure with cathode
radiate to accommodate the diffraction rings
on the other hand, according to the invention, consists of one
vacuum-tight sealed electron
tube with Lenard window and one at this
attached, evacuable for itself, for

and the films or luminescent screens are suitable
made container. The requirements for
the degree of evacuation in this container
are low and are, for example, from
a simple water jet pump.
Replacing the test body can be very
done quickly. because the required vacuum
is quick to establish while the vacuum

The new arrangement brings something special here
technical advantages and facilities
when working with such a facility
compared to the known arrangements. U.N-
Examination body and film can be on a lot
easy way to be exchanged, and the
common container can very quickly (with
a water jet pump) evacuated again

devices for the cathode ray tube
are not required, as a melted-off tube is used and fixed in place
can be.

The dep. 2 shows a device for un-

The X-rays 32 emanating from the preparation fall on the film or the luminescent screen 33, which is covered with an aluminum foil 34 to protect against scattered electrons.
