Rotary valve seal for cylindrical rotary valve on internal combustion engines
The movable cylinder base that is often used in roller-shaped Dxehschlebern
with its sealing surface is partly by spring pressure, partly by compression or
Combustion pressure pressed against the running surface of the roller. The cylinder bottom must

on the other hand, when the gas pressure to be sealed is reduced, d. H. so at
Internal combustion engines during the exhaust stroke and during intake, less against the roller

only meet movable cylinder base if, he in 'direction perpendicular to the axis
of the slide is free to move. The hot rotating slide between the sealing surface
the moving cylinder testicle and the surface of the roller occurring friction
tries to move the cylinder base in the direction of rotation of the slide up to one
Take the stop with you. Through the pressure change between pressure relief and maximum combustion pressure
this movement repeats itself, so that a rattle occurs. Let this rattle
avoid themselves, if the hole perpendicular to the rotary valve axis, in
which the movable cylinder base is guided, is kept so tight that the cylinder base
is still freely movable in the direction of the slide, but not across it
more can be moved. That between the outer diameter of the movable cylinder base
and the diameter of the hole is the same as that in the hole

Smallest excitement of the movable cylinder base dampens.
Drehschieberbohrung I3 trifft (s. Fig. 4.). Selbst wenn das zuverlässig sogar auch
bei; Mehrzvlindermotoren erreicht würde, so. 1restiinde "e:i:ne weitere Schwierigkeit
In most cases, however, such a tight game is not very flexible
Cylinder base and the bore receiving it not possible because machining
It is difficult to achieve that the center of the axis of this hole cc is exactly the center of the
Rotary valve bore I3 meets (see Fig. 4.). Even if that is reliable, too
at; Mehrzvlindermotoren would be achieved so. 1restiinde "e: i: ne further difficulty
in making the movable cylinder base so that the axis of the semi-cylindrical
Gliding surface j intersects the axis of the movable cylinder base (see Fig.
5). If this is not the case, the sealing surface of the one with a small clearance comes into play
movable cylinder base also not on the outer surface of the throttle slide
fully to the concern. So far, sufficient play in the bore has ensured that
that the movable cylinder base align with the running surface of the rotary valve
can, with it. but have to accept that the movable cylinder base rattles.
One tried at most, by special devices, so far however without success,
to keep the movable cylinder base in: its position to prevent it from rotating
to prevent the middle of the alzen.
According to the present invention is in a rotary valve seal
with movable cylinder base, the mobility of the cylinder base for adjustment
its sealing surface secured to the running surface of the roller and still the cylinder bottom
n guided by a guide ring in which one encompasses the movable cylinder base
Guide ring is arranged in such a way that the movable cylinder base
when placing the cylinder head with its sealing surface exactly on the running surface
the roller can adjust and that only then a definition of the guide ring
done in the right position. In the simplest way, the guide ring can be so
be arranged to be fixed by tightening the cylinder head. Though
the movable cylinder base has already been arranged in such a way that it is
ring inserted into the cylinder block or the lower part of the cylinder head
is included, but when in this known arrangement the comprehensive ring is movable
Cylinder bottom leads, then it prevents the other hand, the adaptation of the sealing surface
of the cylinder bath to the running surface of the rotary valve.
der Darstellungen in den Figuren beschränkt sein.1, 2 and 3, the vertical ones, serve to explain the invention
Show center sections through the movable cylinder base. Figs. 4 and 5 serve
the representation of the possible eccentricities. The invention is not intended to go into detail
the representations in the figures may be limited.
An Stelle
As can be seen from Fig. I, the movable cylinder base i is on
its lower end is surrounded by a ring 2, the inner diameter of which is so narrow
Game encloses the movable cylinder base that this. at fixed
Ring can only move back and forth slightly in the axial direction. Will the cylinder head
3 with the built-in roller q. placed on the motor housing 5, so can initially
the movable cylinder base with the ring 2 surrounding it parallel to the parting line
Move between the head and the closing plate so that the sealing surface on the rotary valve
comes straight to the point. The bore for the movable cylinder base and the
The outer bore for the ring has the additional play necessary for this purpose. First
then. when the cylinder head is tightened firmly, the ring is clamped, so
that the movable cylinder base is no longer sideways, but only in the direction
remains movable on the roller. The adjustable guide ring for the cylinder base
in addition to the precise guidance achieved thereby, has the advantage that between
Ring and outer diameter of the cylinder base a good gas tightness is achieved,
especially if, as in the present case, this sealing effect is achieved by one or more
Piston rings 6 (Fig. 2) and through the movable between the roller bore
Cylinder bottom and its bore reaching oil is still supported. Instead of
of the piston rings, similar sealing elements can also be used, e.g. B. a ring
made of oil-proof, synthetic rubber; (Fig.3), the one with the movable cylinder base
and the adjustable ring can also be firmly connected.
