Description

Ozone in durable solid form According to the invention, ozone (03) is by Solidifying his solutions into a durable, transportable and manageable one Brought shape and thus an application or action independent and separate from the production facilities (ozonizers) made possible. Wise known, it falls apart already in the gaseous state considerably quickly, catalytically influenced by many factors low impurities; when compressed or liquefied, it is explosive or so sensitive that it cannot be transported or used in this form can be considered.

On the other hand, ozone has a number of properties that are technical are quite meaningful and easy to use and handle or make portability appear desirable. So it is known that Ozone already or even in very low concentrations germicidal, fresh-keeping and has air-improving effects, except on its chemical effectiveness also based on the fact that ozone as a gas diffuses quickly everywhere.

It is now also known that ozone is present in a number of solvents soluble to a certain extent and completely harmless to handle in these solutions is that, however, as especially from experiments by Sennewald (Zeitschr. f. phys. Chem. Vol. 164 [19331, p. 3o5 ff.) Emerges from aqueous solutions, these are also not essential Have a shelf life (1/2 to r day). It has now been found that the rate of disintegration of ozone, is extraordinarily much lower in solidified solutions than in the liquid solutions, even at their freezing points. Come as a solvent in Consideration: pure water, water with added salts or Carbon dioxide, glacial acetic acid, carbon tetrachloride.

Ozoneis gewonnen. For the preparation of the aqueous solution: if one proceeds, for example: ozone is dissolved in water, or this is saturated with ozone or ozone-containing gases; by allowing this solution to solidify rapidly, for example at -7 ', then ! ' Ozoneis won. The durability The ozone in the ice is based on the following data 'before : _ The solution according to e rstarrten The liquid solution z 5 I 1 2 26 39 _ Days Ozone content in millimoles / 1 .............. 7 5.6 5.5 I 5.8 5.5 5, I. This shows a good shelf life over technically useful times, and the ozoneis obtained in this way represents the fixed, transportable form of ozone. With regard to the concentration that can be achieved, it should be stated that according to information from v. Wartenberg and Podjaski (Zeitsehr. F. Anorg. Chemie Vol. 148 [19a5], p. 391 ff.) For the partial pressure of i Atm. A saturation concentration of about --o millimol.en / 1 (about ig) can be expected for ozone. It was not difficult to dissolve about 15 millimoles of ozone and to convert it to about 8o0 / 0 in the solidified solution.-For the application of the ozone ice the same possibilities arise - as for the gaseous ozone, but also in place of ordinary ice : In addition to its cold effect, the ozoneis has an increased ability to keep freshness based on its ozone content. Here it is of particular importance for the Ozoneis that the diffusivity of the ozone in Ozoneis near the melting point (o °) is considerable, so that it can be effective via the gas atmosphere surrounding the Ozoneis, ie on the entire respective space or On the other hand, the diffusivity is again so low that the ice represents a supply of ozone which only becomes effective as it melts.
