PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Freie entweicht. The previously usual carbon dioxide distributors in the saturation vessels of the sugar factories
usually consist of tubes, which are provided with round holes or slots. the
Holes or slits in these distribution tubes are soon partly made by incrustation
or completely closed, in spite of the fact that the carbon dioxide is fed through the distribution pipes or by means of a pump.
whose holes are pressed into the juice. The cleaning of the distribution pipes is always one
time-consuming and possibly even life-threatening work for the worker concerned.
Also the distribution of the carbonic acid in the juice is insufficient, the latter after
it has left the pipes, partly with the lime in the sap, to form carbonate
Lime connects and partly unused upwards through the exhaust pipe of the saturator
Free escapes.
These evils are to be avoided by the new carbonic acid distributor. It consists of the two floor circulation distributors A and B, which can be box-shaped, square or round, depending on the shape of the saturator, and are connected to one another by walls α and b .
Ausschnitten n. Furthermore, each of the two distributors has four or more terraces or walls of different heights cd gh and ik Im with trough-shaped cutouts n.
Der untere Kohlensäure-Vertheiler B trägt das Kohlensäure-Einströmungsrohr ο und die
Prellwand p. The lower carbon dioxide distributor B carries the carbon dioxide inflow pipe ο and the baffle wall p.
The procedure when using the apparatus described above is now as follows:
The carbonic acid enters through the supply pipe ο, hits the baffle wall ρ and, since the trough-shaped cutouts η are correspondingly higher than the end of ρ , it escapes in the direction of the arrows and is repeated on its way to the terraces cd gh in individual blisters to be divided. After the division at h , the carbonic acid rises in the open field q and collects in the chamber r of the upper carbonic acid distributor A and, since it cannot escape at α and b , the trough-shaped cutouts at ik Im must be reversed pass in order to then get into the juice above. The movement of the carbonic acid takes some of the juice with it in the same direction, and the free space t serves to permit fresh juice to flow in. The surface movement is so important, and as a result of the long way which the carbonic acid travels, when it is repeatedly divided into individual bubbles by the sections η , it has given up its main content when it reaches m.
