Method for the simultaneous transmission of image and sound to two
mutually different carrier waves There are methods for simultaneous transmission
known from image and sound presentations in which the carrier frequencies belong together
Image and sound transmitters are adjacent in the waveband. and all the same
Have frequency spacing. If the voting means are coupled at the recipient, so
it is possible to have the best reception of both broadcasts with a single movement
at the same time and in this way the difficult adjustment of the image receiver
.by making the sound receiver easier to tune.
untere Seitenband der ersten Tonträgerwelle (i MHz) an.According to the invention, the carrier frequencies of picture and sound transmitters that belong together are selected so that it is not the distance but the ratio of the two frequencies that is always the same. The above-mentioned advantages of the known methods are also given here without further ado. With the choice of a certain frequency ratio that is the same for all picture and sound transmitters that belong together, you can also achieve that both the bands of the picture transmitters and those of the sound transmitters each connect seamlessly to one another and the available frequency bands can be fully utilized, as shown in the following Numerical example shows: If one sees an ultrashort wave with a wavelength of e.g. 6 m corresponding to a frequency of 50 MHz for an image transmitter assuming a side bandwidth of about 0.5 MHz, then the frequency bandwidth is i % of the carrier wave. The same relationship arises for the 'associated sound transmitter if its frequency bandwidth z. B. io kHz, at a wavelength of 300 m, ie a carrier frequency of i MHz. If the image carrier wave of 4.9 MHz is selected for another pair of transmitters, the upper sideband of this carrier wave joins the lower sideband of the image wave mentioned first (50 MHz) without any gaps. In order to maintain the constancy of the ratio (50: 1), the associated sound carrier wave must then have the value 0.98 MHz. Its upper sideband also connects seamlessly to the lower sideband of the first sound carrier wave (i MHz).

To receive such video and audio broadcasts,. you can now create a receiving device in which the setting of the second system to the corresponding (picture) transmitter is inevitably carried out mechanically or electrically with the tuning made by setting the one receiving system to the one (sound) transmitter. Known switching means allow the circuits to be adequately shielded from one another electrically so that undesirable mutual influences are excluded. A common power source, common sieve and filter devices, common voltage dividers, and even a common antenna can be provided for the combined device. When setting the device, tuning control devices, as they are known from radio sets, can be provided in order to further improve the setting after the sound transmitter.
