Description

Sintered hard metal alloys Addition to patent 622 347 The main patent 622 347 deals with a method for the production of, for tools and Tools specific hard metal alloys, in which finely powdered tungsten carbide with about 3 to 7% carbon with also finely powdered auxiliary metal (iron, Nickel, cobalt) up to 25% and the same titanium carbide up to 40% mixed to form pressed and sintered or sintered simultaneously with the pressing. The addition of titanium carbide makes the alloys particularly suitable for machining Steel and similar tough materials.

According to the invention it was found that alloys of equally good Texture can be obtained if in place of a very hard bond titanium carbide, titanium nitride, titanium boride or titanium silicide, d. H. other hard titanium compounds are used, i.e. those made from tungsten carbide and lower melting points Auxiliary metal can also be added to the existing alloy. Next has shown that by using mixtures of hard titanium compounds, for example a mixture of titanium carbide and titanium nitride, even better Can achieve cutting performance on tough materials. The alloys according to the present Invention are therefore characterized by the following composition: 0.2 to 40% Titanium nitride, titanium boride, titanium silicide, individually or in a mixture, 0.2 to 25% 6 iron, Nickel or cobalt, the remainder being tungsten carbide with about 3 to 7% carbon, with a Part of the titanium nitride, titanium boride and / or titanium silicide replaced by titanium carbide can be.

A particularly useful composition of the new alloys is the following: 850/0 tungsten carbide, 5% cobalt, 7% titanium carbide, 3% titanium nitride.
