Bei den bekannten Herden dieser Art werden die Heizgase des Herdfeuers, wenn deren Ausnutzung zu Heizzwecken, vorzugsweise im Sommer, nicht erwünscht ist, unmittelbar zum Schornstein geführt oder, wenn sie den Küchenraum beheizen sollen, um den Brateinsatz herumgeführt und dann erst zum Schornstein geleitet.
