Abstract
The invention relates to a display device having a multiplicity of display points, in which each display point is formed by the front-side end of an illuminable optical fibre. The number of the display points for a large-area display that is viewed from a great distance can be substantially reduced by arranging to fix in a display panel in front of each end of an optical fibre a light collector which has a round and larger cross-section than the cross-section of the optical fibre, forms a section convexly curved with a prescribed radius where it faces the end of the optical fibre, and is provided where it is averted from the end of the optical fibre with a rotating phase which is at a prescribed angle to the central axis of the display point, and by arranging that the light collector projects on the display panel with the section formed by the phase, and that the front side of the light collector averted from the end of the optical fibre is roughened.
