Description
Process for the production of internally metallized steel drums with small bunghole The invention relates to a method for manufacturing from the inside metallized steel drums with a small bunghole or with a small bunghole and tap hole, for shipping beverages such as beer, brandy, lemonade, milk, etc.
In the case of steel barrels, there is an influence on the taste of the vessel wall To avoid oxides etc., the inner wall must be given a neutral lining. Attempts to create a durable, firmly adhering inner lining are mostly unsuccessful with steel barrels for drinks. Linings with Lacquer and enamel have proven their worth here and there; but there are enough cases known in which the lining has chipped off over time and then the drinks have been impaired in taste by rust formation on the barrel wall. The aspirations to remedy this deficiency we still have to manufacture steel barrels made of stainless steel, but in which, apart from other circumstances, the question of price stands in the way of a wider distribution of the barrels. It is therefore Attempts have been made again and again to use barrels made of ordinary steel to make suitable lining suitable for the dispatch of beverages. It has It turned out that a preparatory lining of the barrels by so-called Metallization does a very good job of obtaining a firmly adhering coating. The metallization consists in the application of pure aluminum, tin or similar metals on the steel wall, particularly the spraying of metal with the Schoop pistol has proven itself. However, the metallization requires, in order to adhere firmly, that the steel wall cleaned beforehand. In particular, cleaning with the sandblast has proven itself proved to be suitable. The cleaning with the sandblast and the following Metallization means that the surfaces to be treated are easily accessible. at For this purpose, barrels have the option of cleaning and metallization before the barrel is put together, it happens that the not yet connected Barrel parts are treated inside with the sandblast, -lt and metallized, or one processed the inner wall of a barrel that has already been assembled or drawn from one piece. But this makes it necessary that the barrel has a wide opening through which it can be grasped of the entire inner surface of the barrel when the sandblast and the metallization device are introduced is possible. The former process - i.e. cleaning and metallizing the barrel parts, before the barrel is assembled - has the consequence that the temperature, which when The barrel parts are welded together, higher than the melting point of the metals with which the steel wall is metallized. As a result, the metallization melts at the welds, and @ it occurs at the welds of the barrel wall unappreciated places whose subsequent covering with varnish us @ v. just a stopgap is. The metallization is used to avoid the defects just indicated already tried with the barrel finished, after the skive had ended was. This forces - as already emphasized - wide barrel openings and large closures. But it is now a well-known after-ax of the wide openings and large ones Closures that with the extensive sealing surfaces to a far greater extent There are leaks than with small closures. The practice, especially in the Brewing trade, therefore pushing for small closures, which are cheaper on the one hand, also give far less cause for leaks, and also have the advantage that with them equipped barrels with the wooden barrels over the existing automatic ones Cleaning and filling equipment can run.
The invention therefore aims at drums with small openings or Closures to achieve the metallization of the inner wall without endangering the metallization when welding the barrel parts together.
The invention consists in that on the one hand the cleaning of the prepressed Faßteile and the metallization of the same is made so that the edges of the Vessel parts on which the welding is carried out from the metallization remain free, which poses a risk to: 4 - metallization in these areas the heating during welding is avoided, and on the other hand, the filling openings in it and to attach the welds so that when the barrel is finished, through a narrow bung or mortise it is still possible, the weld seam and the exposed ones Clean and re-metallize areas along the weld seam. To this A complete, perfect interior metallization of this barrel is achieved and he also got the advantage of narrow openings or small closures. The latter remain sufficiently far to weld the weld seam on the finished barrel by means of a Schoop pistol with a long barrel can be re-metallized, and the metallized one Inner barrel surface by injecting pitch, paraffin, varnish or the like with a neutral one To provide a coating, which can be easily removed and renewed if necessary can. This coating also smooths out any corner joints.
