Abstract

The saddle (11) is fitted to a support tube secured into the bicycle frame with height adjustment. The support also includes a gas spring with a control lever (17) under the saddle. The rider is able to operate the lever and adjust the saddle height within a set adjusting range without getting off the machine. The adjusting lever can be linked to a handlebar control by a Bowden cable. To change the adjusting range a conventional saddle support clamp (14) is provided. The gas spring provides a damped support during use, whatever the setting.

Description

The invention relates to a device for height adjustment and damping a bicycle saddle with one in a frame part of the bicycle insertable seat post.

The height adjustment of a bicycle saddle has been done so far in that a trained in the form of a tubular extension and seat post located at the bottom of the saddle inserted more or less deeply into a frame part of the bicycle leads and in the desired position with a clamping lever or locked with a clamping screw. For change Since then, the saddle height has always stopped and Getting off the bike is required. When fixing the saddle height by means of a clamping screw is to adjust the saddle height The use of a wrench is also necessary. So far, saddle adjustments have practically been eliminated finally to adapt to the driver's height too Start of a trip. Especially for off-road vehicles Mountain bikes, however, it is of great advantage that Seat height too difficult in difficult mountainous terrain  to be able to change the point shift. On steep descents can, for example, by lowering the saddle Center of gravity shifted backwards and thus the same important to be strengthened. With a subsequent increase in The saddle should be set as high as possible, to shift the focus further forward and one to achieve a better step angle. However, this is one Adjustment of the bicycle saddle while driving conducive.

The present invention proposes to solve this problem a device of the type mentioned, which thereby is excellent that they arranged one in the seat post netes and gas spring element controllable via a lever points. Simply pressing the lever is one effortless adjustment of the saddle height even during the Driving is completely safe. The thus made possible adjustment of the saddle height to the terrain requirements means in addition to more convenience by moving the heavy points also a strong reduction in the risk of accidents. The Gas spring element also causes one in every position additional damping, which is a reduction in off-road driving very heavy strain on the spine. The lever to adjust the gas spring element can expediently to be arranged below the saddle on the seat post to ensure good accessibility even while driving most. However, the lever can also be attached to the handlebars of the bike ordered and via a Bowden cable with the gas spring element be connected. It is then not necessary to go to seat heights adjustment to take one hand off the handlebar.

Further advantages can result if the seat post height-adjustable with the gas spring element and by means of a Clamping lever is arranged in the frame part. In order to can first with the gas spring extended using the clamp the normal position of the saddle can be set. The  Adaptation of the saddle height to the terrain requirements then via the gas spring adjustment. Then the Normal position of the saddle by simply completely off stop driving the gas spring.

A saddle 11 of the bicycle 10 shown in FIG. 1 has a seat post 12 arranged on its underside, which is inserted into a frame part 13 and locked in position by means of a clamping lever 14 . The seat post 12 contains a gas spring element 15 which is controllable via a lever 17 arranged on the handlebar 16 of the driving wheel 10 . The lever 17 is connected to a longitudinal bar 19 of the bicycle frame Bowden cable 18 with the gas spring element 15 of the saddle support 12 , as is evident in particular from FIG. 2. The detail view of Fig. 2 also shows the exact structure of the saddle support 12 ren. The seat post 12 is formed by a standpipe 20 , at its lower closed end 20.1, the gas spring element 15 inserted into the standpipe 20 is anchored. A guide bushing 21 is arranged between the standpipe 20 and the gas spring element 15 . To adjust the normal position of the saddle 11 , for example, the gas spring element 15 can be fully extended and then the seat post 12 with the standpipe 20 inserted into the frame part until the desired height of the saddle 11 is reached, and then by means of the clamping lever 14 in this position be fixed. On steep downhill descents, the gas spring element 15 can then be compressed by actuating the lever 17, thereby lowering the saddle 11 and moving the center of gravity of the driver to the rear, the gas spring element 15 being lockable in any position. At the end of the descent, the normal position of the saddle 11 can then be easily restored by releasing the gas spring 15 by means of the lever 17 .

In the device shown in FIG. 3, the lever 17 arranged on the handlebar 16 of the bicycle 10 and the Bowden cable 18 of the device according to FIGS. 1 and 2 are replaced by a release lever 17 'arranged directly below the saddle 11 on the gas spring element 15 '. So here is the operation of the Gasfe derelementes and thus the height adjustment of the saddle 11 by operating the lever 17 'below the saddle. This solution is structurally simpler compared to that shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, but it has the disadvantage that to operate the lever 17 'a hand must be taken from the handlebar 16 while driving. In all other elements, the device according to FIG. 3 corresponds to that according to FIGS. 1 and 2 and is therefore also provided with the same reference numbers.

Fig. 4 shows again the seat post 12 'according to Fig. 3 isolated and in an enlarged view in two positions of the gas spring element 15th The position in which the gas spring element 15 is fully compressed, ie the saddle is in its lowest possible position, is shown in bold. Drawn somewhat thinner, an extended position of the Gasfe derelementes 15 is shown. The adjustment of the Gasfederele mentes 15 again via the trigger lever 17 '.
