Abstract

A measurement cell (3) for an appliance for sterile monitoring of body fluids that flow out of a catheter has a measurement chamber (4) which receives the body fluid from above, through a Pasteur chamber, and which is provided with a measurement space (31) separated from the Pasteur chamber (25) by an inclined partition (26). Two electrodes (33, 34) are concentrically arranged in the measurement space (31), forming a measurement capacitor. An opening (29) in the partition (26) that acts as a fluid passage, is closed in relation to the Pasteur chamber (25) by a non return valve. The outlet tube (8), and preferably also the inlet tube (6) into the measurement chamber (3), can be shut-off.

Description

The invention relates to a device for monitoring from a Catheter leaking body fluid, in which under Ver the body fluid is collected using a measuring chamber, to get an electrical one corresponding to the filling volume Develop measurement signal, the filling volume capacitive is measured by the capacitance of a measuring capacitor from Level in the measuring chamber and the capacity change for generating the measurement signal is evaluated, and the measuring capacitor two electrodes insulated from each other has, which are oriented in the filling direction of the measuring chamber.

Such a device is known from DE-AS 26 40 413. At the body fluid gets from the patient's catheter via a hose to an inlet funnel and from there into the measuring chamber. In this are the two separate elec trodes provided, which form the measuring capacitor and of which one is coated with a dielectric so that the body liquid only conductive contact with the other electrode may have. By liquid flowing into the measuring chamber changes due to the direct contact of the body fluid with an electrode the geometry of the measuring capacitor and thus its capacity, in direct dependence on the respective level and volume in the measuring chamber. In itself known way is in a measuring voltage generator from the capaci change in voltage generates a voltage change, which is called the measuring voltage is available and corresponds to the volume function. At the the lower outlet is closed with a plunger, which is designed as a permanent magnet and spaced apart from it is surrounded by a winding, which together as a magnetic winding forms a solenoid valve with the plunger. Contrary to the Kraftwir Kung the magnet, the plunger is acted upon by a spring. When the solenoid valve is energized, the tappet moves down pulled to expose the spout of the chamber and the body drain liquid into a hose.

To record the level of the body fluid in the The measuring electrodes are diametrically opposed to each other on the Arranged inner wall of the measuring chamber. This leads to that at an inclined position of the device or the measuring chamber Filling direction of the measuring chamber inclined liquid surface represents, because of the relatively large distance between the measuring electrodes mutually falsified measurement results, so that incorrect Collection volumes are determined and also the plunger given to drain the body fluid from the measuring chamber if is pressed at the wrong time. The exact investigative  is the body fluid emerging from the catheter but to demand. This is especially true when monitoring the direct drainage of urine from the body following Operations or endoscopic interventions in the kidney and the Bladder with catheters inserted postoperatively. Except for the Disadvantage that the known device at an inclined position Measuring chamber whose level is only determined imprecisely, it has one quite complicated structure. So that's the ver ver closing valve in the assembly, which is also the measuring chamber absorbs, integrates and also becomes the body at the outlet liquid flows around this, so that the danger of In the valve is encrusted. Since the device is only a lower one The valve also has the disadvantage that from Device that while draining the body fluid into the Measuring chamber dripping body fluid is not detected.

From DE-OS 31 18 158 is an electronic control and Monitoring device for urine flow known a measuring chamber, an inlet line and an outlet line has, which are each assigned a valve. Between the The valve of the feed line and the measuring chamber is an optical one Arranged sensor that after filling the measuring chamber and one Urine in the supply line to the level of the optical Sensor detects a defined fill level and when it is reached this urine level via the electronic control the valve of the inlet line closes as well as the valve of the outlet line opens.

From US-PS 47 45 928 it is known to optical sensors to arrange different filling levels of the measuring chamber, so determine the level of the body fluid in the measuring chamber to be able to. Each optical sensor consists of a light source and a photo detector, which have a bulge in the wall of the Enclose the measuring chamber between them. Even with such a  Design of the device for monitoring the catheter escaping body fluids are measurement inaccuracies as a result Inclination of the measuring chamber cannot be ruled out.

It is an object of the present invention, a device of initially mentioned type so that in this case structurally simple design guarantee a high measurement accuracy is accomplished.

The task is solved in that the one, first electrode is arranged in the central region of the measuring chamber and the other, second electrode at a slight radial distance from the first Electrode. It is thus in the device according to the invention respective filling volume only in a central area the measuring chamber, thus spaced from its wall. An inclination of the measuring chamber from the usual measuring position or a Sloshing of the liquid due to movement of the device thus only an insignificant change in the level in the Area of the measuring capacitor, with which a high measuring accuracy is guaranteed.

Basically, the electrodes can be any components be assigned or represent any component, it is only ensure that they are in a central area of the measurement are arranged in their filling direction and between the such a gap between the two electrodes insulated from one another remains that in this enter the body fluid and the variable liquid level in the measuring chamber can follow. A special embodiment of the invention provides that the first electrode as a thin rod and the second electrode as Tube is formed, the tube the rod in slight Distance concentrically surrounds. In this configuration, the Measuring capacitor radial to that between the tube and the wall shielded body fluid located in the measuring chamber, so that  the body fluid collected inside the tube soothes is what the determination of an exact fluid level continues favored. It is envisaged in detail that the insulation between the rod and the tube due to a coating of the Rod with a dielectric results. The tube can, for example made of solid metal tube (iron, copper, stainless steel) or made of plastic hose or art wrapped with metal foil fabric tube exist. It is also conceivable to use a plastic to steam hose or a plastic pipe with metal or to use a tube made of extruded with metal ions Plastic is made. The insulation of the interior Metal rod (for example iron, copper, stainless steel) can extruded, dipped, coated, steamed, etc.

The measuring chamber expediently has a circular cross section and it the one electrode is arranged centrally in the measuring chamber, while the other electrode concentrically surrounds the former.

The pipe should, based on the level, be in its lower one Area with at least one body inlet liquid and above the maximum level with min be provided with at least one ventilation opening.

According to a particular embodiment of the invention provided that the measuring capacitor is fixed in such a way that it is clamped between the lid and the bottom of the measuring chamber. In particular, the contact area should be plug, spring or Terminal contact to the subsequent electronics. Such Design that a connector between the electronics and the device part having the measuring chamber, permitted it, this device part as a medical disposable item to train. The inexpensive manufacture of the disposable item arises especially when the measuring capacitor from the mentioned simple components, namely tube and rod ausgebil  det is held in the upper and lower part of the measuring chamber are, the tube of the measuring capacitor through the measuring chamber sets and there the connection of the tube and the rod with a connector leading to the electronics.

In addition to the capacitive measurement of the level of the The measuring chamber can also be set at the maximum fill level the measuring chamber have an optical scanning device, so in the event of a failure of the capacitive measuring system, at least the to be able to record the maximum fill level.

The device is advantageously designed as a mobile system, so that the patient connected to this largely unhindered can move, for example, to further clinical To undergo investigations.

The device part having the measuring chamber is expedient in one Bracket held so that it can be easily changed. In the clip can also be the optical scanner be integrated.

Further features of the invention are in the description of the Figures and represented in the dependent claims, being noted will that all individual features and all combinations of Individual features are essential to the invention.

Es zeigt:In the figures, the invention is based on an exemplary embodiment game shown, without being limited to this. It shows:

Fig. 3 shows a horizontal section through the measuring chamber of the device along the line AA in Fig. 2.

As can be seen from the illustration in FIG. 1, a carrier plate 50 , which can be attached vertically, for example to a bed of a patient, has two angle elements 2 . A housing 1 of the device according to the invention, which is used primarily for monitoring urine emerging from a catheter, can be inserted into the housing with its respective lower right and lower left edges. The box-shaped housing 1 accommodates the electronic part of the device (not shown in more detail), furthermore mechanical elements for controlling the urine influx or urine outflow to be described in or out of the part of the device that flows through the urine. This device part 3 is inserted to the left of the housing 1 in a manner to be described in more detail in the housing 1 .

As illustrated in FIG. 2, the device part 3 has a measuring chamber 4 , in the upper connecting piece 5 of which a urine inlet hose 6 and in the lower connecting piece 7 of which a urine outlet hose 8 is inserted. In detail, the measuring chamber 4 has a cylindrical tubular middle part 8 , on the upper end of which a cover part 10 and on the lower end of which a bottom part 11 is attached. It goes without saying that the inlet hose 6 , the cover part 10 with the upper connection 5 , the middle part 9 and the bottom part 11 with discharge tube 8 are connected to each other in a liquid-tight manner. The parts mentioned consist of a transparent plastic and thus allow an insight into the interior of the measuring chamber 4 and the hoses 6 and 8 . As can be seen in detail from the illustration in FIG. 2, the housing 1 has in its lower left corner a projection 12 which can be inserted into one of the angle elements 2 and which is provided with a pin 13 at the top. The pin 13 has a hemispherical upper end and is used to accommodate a bottom into the bottom part 11 formed cylindrical sleeve 14 , the inner diameter of which is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pin 13 , so that the measuring chamber 4 largely free of play from above on the projection 12 can be plugged on. The measuring chamber 4 at half the height between a housing in addition to the front Gerätege 1 a connected holding rib 51 and a back wall with the device 1 b connected resilient clamp 52 is held.

Das vorbeschriebene gilt sinngemäß für die Wirkungsweise der dem Zulaufschlauch 6 zugeordneten Zugstange 19.Adjacent to the cylindrical sleeve 14 , the lower connecting piece 7 is formed in the cover part 10 and in its escape parallel to the lateral surface of the central part 8 of the upper connection piece 5 . The device part 3 is held in addition to the plug connection of the pin 13 and the cylindrical sleeve 14 by means of two mechanical hose clamps, an upper hose clamp 15 the inlet hose 6 at a slight distance from the upper connection piece 5 and a lower hose clamp 16 the outlet hose 8 at a slight distance from the lower connection piece 7 is assigned. In detail, the electronic Urinmeßgerätes in the upper region of the device part 3 facing side wall 17, an upper drive 18 for the inlet hose 6 engages behind pull rod is angeord net 18 in the housing. 1 Correspondingly, a lower drive 20 for the closing mechanism of the drain hose 8 is arranged at the bottom in the housing 1 , which a further pull rod 21 connected to the drive 20 engages behind. Fig. 2 shows in the housing 1 used device part 3, the inlet hose 6 in the open state and the drain hose 8 in the closed state, thus the device part 3 in the operating position in which the urine emerging from the body is collected and measured. The drawbar 21 is located with a drain hose 8 engages behind legs 22 at the end remote the casing 1 region of the discharge tube 8 and pulls this against the housing 1 facing the region of the urine discharge hose 8 and there is the squeezing of the drain hose 8 due to its abutment at another housing projection 23 . The above applies analogously to the mode of operation of the pull rod 19 assigned to the inlet hose 6 .

The cover part 10 is penetrated by the beveled end of the inlet hose 6 . The end protrudes into a so-called Pasteurian chamber 25 , which is arranged between the cover part 10 , a partition 26 arranged in the measuring chamber 4 essentially in accordance with the inclination of the beveled end 24 of the inlet hose 6 , and the wall section of the middle part 9 located between the latter and the cover part 10 is formed. A vent filter 27 is integrated into the cover part 10 adjacent to the middle part 9 and additionally has support webs (not shown in more detail) for a PTFE membrane 28 . The intermediate wall 26 penetrates in its deepest area a through opening 28 which is closed by a plate 30 arranged below the intermediate wall 26 and fastened with this elastic valve. Urine can thus enter the Pasteurian chamber 25 through the inlet hose 6 and from there passes through the opening 28 past the open valve into the actual measuring chamber 31 to the outlet hose 8 . With the reference number 32 , the axis of rotation of the cylindrical central part 9 of the measuring chamber 4 is illustrated. When the device part 3 is properly inserted into the housing 1 , this axis of rotation 32 corresponds to a vertical.

The measuring chamber 4 passes symmetrically to the axis of rotation 32 through a measuring tube 33 on copper, which extends beyond the cover part 10 . Within the measuring tube 33 , a thin measuring rod 34 made of copper is arranged symmetrically to the axis of rotation 32 , this is also guided according to the measuring tube 33 beyond the cover part. At the level of the cover part 10, the space between the measuring tube 33 and the measuring rod 34 seals a sealing ring 35 . At the bottom, the measuring rod 34 is inserted into a bearing projection 36 of the base part 11 and passes through a star-shaped sleeve 37 there , which is inserted into the lower end of the measuring tube 33 . In the field of metering chamber 3, that is between the lower, enclosed by the bearing boss 36 the end of the metering rod 34 and the enclosed by the sealing ring 35 upper portion of the metering rod 34 of the measuring rod is provided with an insulating layer 38 34 so that the dipstick 34 within the measuring chamber 4 is insulated from the measuring tube 33 . At a slight distance below the passage of the measuring tube 33 through the intermediate wall 26 vent holes 38 are provided in the measuring tube 33 over its circumference. With the projecting above the cover part 10 area of the measuring tube 33 and measuring rod 34 , a connector 40 is connected, the plate 42 via an electrical line 41 with the conductor, that is, the electronics part of the device is in connection.

Before operating the device according to the invention, the device part 3 is plugged onto the pin 13 of the housing and clamped between the retaining rib 51 and the clamping bracket 52 , and the connector, which is designed as a commercially available component with ring contact and hole contact, is provided from a device in the rear wall 1 b Socket 53 removed for idle operation and plugged onto the measuring tube and the dipstick. The inlet hose 6 and the outlet hose 8 are then inserted into the upper hose clamp 15 or lower hose clamp 16 and the lower pull rod 21 is moved into the closed hose position, which is done in particular by switching off the lower drive 20 and transferring the pull rod 21 in the closed position by means of a spring element, not shown. The permanent, clamped state of the drain hose 8 is thus brought about by the action of a spring, while the short-term operating state is represented by the action of the drive 20 . The upper connecting piece 5 is accordingly opened under the action of a spring, the clamping position of the pull rod 18 of the upper drive 18 is only for closing the inlet hose 6th When the inlet hose 6 is open and the outlet hose 8 is closed, urine drips in the direction of the arrow according to FIG. 2 through the inlet hose 6 into the Pasteurian chamber 25 and from there through the opening 29 into the measuring space 31 . The star-shaped design of the sleeve 37 results in an opening 47 between the measuring tube 33 and the measuring rod 34 in the lower region thereof, so that a liquid was formed in the annular space 43 forming a measuring gap between the measuring rod 34 and the measuring tube 33 , corresponding to that between the measuring tube 33 and the middle part 9 sets. When urine flows into the annular space 43 , air above the liquid is pressed through the ventilation holes 38 into the measuring space 31 . The distance between the measuring rod 34 and the measuring tube 33 is dimensioned so small that the liquid level in the annular space 43 can follow that in the measuring space 31 unhindered. An inclination of the measuring chamber 34 , in whatever direction, and a Schwap pen of urine in the measuring chamber, because of the small distance between the components acting as electrodes measuring tube 33 and dipstick 34 ensures accurate measurement results of the formed Meßkon capacitor. The amount of urine stowed in the measuring chamber 31 is shown via the measuring electrodes, the connector 40 , the electrical line 41 and the circuit board 42 in displays 44 and 45 of the device, which represent, for example, the urine volume per hour or per day. In addition, the device part 3 can have an optical scanning device 46 which is embedded in a groove of the clamping bracket 52 and the holding rib 51 on the measuring chamber and which triggers an alarm when a maximum accumulation level is exceeded. Finally, further auxiliary displays are conceivable, for example a display 48 for a bag change. Finally, the device has an on-off switch 54 and an alarm indicator 55 . With the reference numeral 49 in the Dar position of FIGS. 1 and 2, a non-calming liquid stood in the measuring space 31 .

As can be seen from the illustration in FIG. 1, the carrier plate 50 can additionally be provided with a flap 56 for inserting the device from above, and furthermore in the upper region with slots 57 for receiving fastening straps 58 which can be connected to a bed frame. Finally, holes 59 can be provided in the upper area of the housing 1 for the housing 1 with fastening straps fixing the carrier plate 50 , as well as a recess 60 as a carrier handle for the device, which can also pass through a further holding element 61 connected to the carrier plate 50 . Two at the bottom of the housing 1 spaced apart tabs 62 pass through with hanging hook 63 fixing lugs 64 of the urine bag 65 having a capacity of for example 2000 ml, which is connected via a hose adapter 66 with the urine drainage tubing. 8
