Description

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of Process oils with an aromatics content of more than 50% by mass, in particular more than 55% by mass, according to ASTM D 2007 and one Polycyclic aromatic content (PCA) less than 3 Mass% according to IP 346.

Process oils are boiling in the lubricating oil sector Hydrocarbon mixtures not as or in combination used with lubricating oils, but in other technological Areas, eg. As a plasticizer or extender used become. However, the aromatic types are often uner wants high levels of polycyclic, d. H. more than 2 condensed, aromatic nuclei containing compounds. When used as a plasticizer in nature and synthesis types of rubber, eg. B. for rubber compounds for treads of vehicle tires, they result in an improvement of the physi kalischen properties of the rubber vulcanizates, in particular in terms of elasticity and related Slip resistance of the tread compounds. Others, with the softened, technical Kautschukar mentioned process oils Particle have improved damping properties.

They are referred to as pseudoraffinates and are obtained by boiling in the oil range Petroleum distillates of countercurrent extraction with furfurol subjects the obtained primary extract to furfurol and this subsequently in a second countercurrent extraction  treated again with furfurol. That in the second extract obtained on stage, rich in aromatics Pseudoraffinat is after the removal of the furfurol with suitable solvents, for. B. Methyl ethyl ketone and toluene, dewaxed and dewaxed and subsequently hydrogenated catalytically. In the second extract Onsstufe the temperature is at the top of the extraction column 40 to 100 ° C, and those at the bottom of the column 35 to 80 ° C; the Volume ratio of used primary extract to the Extractant is 1: 0.5 to 1: 2.5.

4 Absetzbehältern, wobei dieses Verfahren jedoch auf die Ent fernung von aromatischen Komponenten aus den eingesetzten Schmierölfraktionen unter Optimierung der Ausbeute an Raffinat gerichtet ist.DE-B 37 17 820 relates to a multi-stage extraction Ver run with 2 countercurrent extraction columns and 3 and 4, respectively Depositing containers, but this method is based on the Ent removal of aromatic components from the used Lubricating oil fractions optimizing the yield of raffinate is directed.

The process according to DE-A 23 43 238 provides process oils with a relatively low content of aromatics, due to the mandatory stage of hydrogenation. But it will be at as softener or extender for natural and synthetic skin often used higher levels of process oils However, the content of polycyclic Aromatics as low as possible, in particular below 3% by mass, should lie.

Accordingly, the invention is directed to a method of manufacture directed by process oils, which despite a high, d. H. over 50 Mass%, in particular more than 55% by mass lying content Aromatics according to ASTM D 2007 a content of polycyclic Have aromatics of less than 3% by mass to IP 346.

The method of the invention is characterized in that One obtains a primary extract by treating one from a Mineral oil derived lube distillates with a polar Solvent was obtained in a countercurrent extraction Lonne extracted with a polar solvent, the Volume ratio of used primary extract to the  polar solvent 1: 1 to 1: 1.8 and the temperature in the countercurrent extraction column in the head region 50 to 90 ° C. and in the bottom area 20 to 60 ° C, and wherein the head temperature is higher than the ground temperature. It was due The prior art was not expected to coincide with the Conditions of the method of the invention a selective Lowering the content of polycyclic aromatics under Maintaining a high concentration of non-polycyclic, aromatic compounds is possible.

Under temperature in the head of the column is doing the Temperature understood in the uppermost part of the Extrak tion column - essentially due to the inlet temperature of the solvent and primary extract streams and can be regulated by this. It is practical identical to the temperature at which the product is on the colon is removed.

Below the bottom temperature of the column is the lowest Tempe understood in the extraction process; she is mainly from the temperature of the above two processes However, it is usually still through additional cooling devices in the bottom region of the column influenced, wherein the cooling devices can also be located outside the column and here with a separate separators are combined, in which the am Column soil withdrawn product into a heavier extract phase and a lighter - often called pseudo-raffinate Nete - phase separates, which in the bottom area of the column is returned. In this embodiment of the method The invention provides the temperature in the separation vessel prevails and virtually identical to that of Recirculated light phase is the claimed ground temperature is.

Contains the used primary extract from its production even smaller amounts of polar solvent, so must these with regard to the observance of the mentioned limits for  the ratio of primary extract to polar solvent be be taken into account. The content of residual solvent in the However, by-product should desirably not be higher than 20% by volume.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the method of Invention, one uses a primary extract, the one Aromatic content of more than 65 to 85% by mass according to ASTM D 2007 has.

Usually included in the extraction of lubricating oil distillate fractions resulting primary extracts 15 to 35 Mass% polycyclic aromatics (PCA) according to IP 346; the values However, they can also be above or below this range lie.

Preferably used Primärex in the process of the invention tracts have PCA contents of not more than 25% by mass IP 346 on. The lower limit of the PCA content of the used Primary extracts are above those in the product of the process the desired PCA content of the invention.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the Ver driving the invention works with a head temperature the countercurrent extraction column by at least 10 ° C. is higher than the soil temperature.

Under the concept of polar solvents in the context of Be spelling are the ones commonly used in the extraction of Lubricating distillates used to understand solvents, eg. B. Furfurol, N-methylpyrrolidone and phenol; however, it is preferred Used furfurol.

The passing at the top of the countercurrent extraction column Process oil is made up of proportions of polar solvent, in particular by distillation, freed. Further processing of the process oil obtained by dewaxing and Dewaxing is possible. Is excluded from the  Process of the invention, however, the subsequent treatment by hydrogenation, since the content of polycyclic aromatics in the process oil of the invention anyway below 3% by mass and at most the desired high content by the hydrogenation non-polycyclic, aromatic compounds reduced would.

B. Drehscheibenextraktoren (Rotating Disk Contactors, RDC′s).For carrying out the method of the invention are suitable conventional columns for countercurrent liquid / Flüs sig extractions, as described in Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 5th Edition, Volume B3, 1988, pages 6-14 to 6-32; especially advantageous are colon nen with rotating internals, z. B. turntable extractors (Rotating Disk Contactors, RDC's).

The process oils obtained according to the invention can be obtained all technological areas in which so far aromatic-rich mineral oil extracts were used. Prefers They are according to the invention as a plasticizer or extender for natural and synthetic rubbers used.

The process of the invention will be explained in more detail below, with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows a flow chart for a preferred plant for through leadership of the method of the invention.

According to the drawing, a plant for carrying out the process of the invention comprises a countercurrent extraction column of conventional type 1 , via a line 2 with upstream heat exchanger 3 with the polar solvent and via a line 4 with upstream heat exchanger 5 with the primary extract to be extracted with an aromatic content of more than 50% by mass according to ASTM D 2007 and a content of polycyclic aromatics of more than 3% by mass according to IP 346. The process oil according to the invention, referred to below as mesoraffinate, is taken off at the top of the column via a line 6 . At the bottom of the extraction column, the polar solvent containing the extracted constituents is removed by means of a line 7 and fed via a heat exchanger 8 to a settling tank 9 , where the extract is divided into 2 phases. The upper, often referred to as pseudo-raffinate phase is zurückge leads via a line 10 to the bottom of the extraction column; the lower phase, containing the polar solvent and enriching the unwanted polycyclic aromatics, is discharged from the system via a line 11 . The means for removing and recovering polar solvent portions from the overhead process oil and the bottom product containing the undesirable aromatics are not shown.

The spatial separation of the extraction column 1 and the settling tank 9 shown in the drawing is not absolutely necessary; It is readily possible to integrate the settling tank 9 with the bottom of the column 1 .

The system shown in the figure makes it possible to control the ex traction process very fine. However, it is quite possible to work without the given through the heat exchanger 8 , the settling tank 9 and the conduit 10 loop. The process parameters characterizing the process of the invention are then controlled only by the temperature of the two feedstocks and their flow rates, which experience has shown, however, is not so elegantly feasible.

The following embodiments serve for further explanation tion of the method of the invention.

For the embodiments, a turntable extractor with a height of 4000 mm, a diameter of 115 mm and 56 discs used; the number of revolutions of the discs was in all cases 180 rpm. As a polar solvent was Furfurol used; its throughput results in each case from the ratio of extract to that given in Table 1 Furfural.

The starting material was an extract, as in the Preparation of a normal solvent neutral oil by Destil from North Sea crude oil and subsequent extraction with Furfurol was obtained as a by-product, he had the following Characteristics on:

Dichte bei 70°C (DIN 51 757; kg/m²)Density at 70 ° C (DIN 51 757, kg / m²) 956956 Viskosität bei 40°C (DIN 51 562; mm²/s)Viscosity at 40 ° C (DIN 51 562; mm² / s) 15301530 Viskosität bei 100°C (DIN 51 562; mm²/s)Viscosity at 100 ° C (DIN 51 562; mm² / s) 30,530.5 Brechungsindex n (DIN 51 423/T2)Refractive index n (DIN 51 423 / T2) 1,5601,560 Flammpunkt COC (°C; DIN ISO 2592)Flash point COC (° C, DIN ISO 2592) 255255 Gießpunkt (°C; DIN ISO 3016)Pour point (° C, DIN ISO 3016) +18+18 Aromatengehalt (Massen-%; ASTM D 2007)Aromatic content (mass%, ASTM D 2007) 7474 polycyclische Aromaten (Massen-%, IP 346)polycyclic aromatics (% by mass, IP 346) 1919

With the starting material described above, the Examples No. 1 to No. 3 of the invention and Comparative Ver search no. 1 and no. 2; the process conditions (Temperature at the top of the column and at the bottom of the column and the Vo lumen ratio extract: furfurol) and the experimental results (Yield of mesoraffinate in% by mass, based on starting material, aromatics content of mesoraffinate in% by mass ASTM D 2007 and polycyclic aromatic content (PCA content) in% by mass according to IP 346) are summarized in Table 1.

As can be seen from the test results, the process products of Examples 1 to 3 have aromatics contents of well over 60% by mass; the content of polycyclic aromatics is well below 3% by mass. The Vergleichver search 1 shows that a temperature range outside the claimed temperature range Kolkopfkopftemperatur while lowering the PCA content, but at the same time also reduces the aromatics content of the final product below 50 mass%. The comparative experiment no. 2 shows that falling below the claimed volume ratio of raffinate to furfurol leaves the aromatic content largely unaffected, but the PCA content remains at an undesirably high level.

A further comparison of the with the method of the inventions shows achievable results with the prior art, that according to Example 1, extract A, DE-A 23 43 238 of Aromatic content of the process oil before dewaxing and hydrogenation 71.8% by weight and after dewaxing and hydrogenation 51.9% is; the corresponding values of the example 2 of DE-A 23 43 238 obtained extract B are 65.7 wt .-% before and 51.1% by weight after hydrogenation. (According to DE-A 23 43 238 recoverable PCA levels are no longer detectable because the used at that time no longer receives starting materials In any case, the method according to DE-A 23 43 238 considered disadvantageous, since there is an additional Hydrogenation requires, in addition to the content of Aromatics is greatly lowered.
