Auf die Preßkette 4 wirkt ein Druckerzeuger 14. Das Unterteil 12 bildet das Gegenmesser für Messer 16 in einer durch einen Antrieb 17 drehbaren Messertrommel 18, so daß die Messer 16 beim Umlauf schmale Streifen aus Papierfa­ sern 19 von der verdichteten Papiermasse 9 abschneiden. Die Papierfasern 19 werden anschließend durch ein Rohr 20, z. B. pneumatisch, abgefördert. Zum Schleifen der von einem nicht dargestellten Antrieb im Inneren der Messertrommel 18 stän­ dig nach außen geschobenen Messer 16 dient eine Schleif­ scheibe 21, die von einem Diamanten 22 periodisch abgerich­ tet wird.
