Abstract

The forklift truck (2) has a vertical mast (4), which is braced by a strut (6). The mast serves as a guide for a slide carriage (8). A frame (10,12) bolted to the slide carriage carries a support (14) for a pair of horizontal forks. They can be swung about a vertical axis, as well as being moved horizontally forwards or sideways to transfer loads to or from storage racks. The frame can be removed from the slide carriage and replaced by other types of load-bearing forks.
