Description

Method of making artificial stone using colloidal, Bound or free silica as a binding agent and hardening through dehydration as well as the type of application of this procedure. The invention is based on the fact that silicic acid and silicic acid compounds by water vapor at sufficiently high Temperatures and then pressure and sufficiently long exposure not only partially can be brought to the ouelling, but even to the complete (colloidal) solution, a more or less thick jelly forms. By dehydration as a result of evaporation or treatment with substances that remove water (e.g. Alcohol, acetone), by treatment with concentrated solutions, anti-swelling Salts (e.g. alum, alumina sulphate and sulphates in general) or by tanning agents (e.g. B. chromic acid, formaldehyde) can the gelatinous substance back into the solid Be brought into shape.

These are: the present invention as opposed to known ones Procedure not order; a plasticizing of silicates by steam treatment, still to generate colloidal silica by any agents, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, Nitric acid, sulfuric acid, alkalis, alkaline earths, fluorine compounds, etc., through which the silica rides partly for itself, partly in connection with the person concerned Agents in the colloidal form is converted, but -to the formation of colloids Binding agent made of silica or silicates exclusively by treatment with Wasserdaxnpf without any further addition of any agents, the following Using this colloidal silica as a binder and then transferring it of the silica hydrogel in solid gel exclusively by dehydration Purpose of hardening.

If, for example, quartz sand or a silica compound (clay, Slate etc.) steamed in the autoclave under sufficiently high steam pressure for so long that only the surface of the grains gelatinizes, but the core remains unchanged, the mass obtained in this way can, depending on the degree of gelatinization, be baked in molds, be tamped or pressed or, also like mortar for connecting larger building materials (Bricks, stone blocks) are used while the hardening takes place to the extent that in which the dispersant evaporates from the emulsoid or through a drying agent or a tanning process is displaced.

Another way of working is that which completely or, even if incompletely, but to a sufficient extent for this purpose, gelatinized mass with suitable fillers (Quartz sand, dolomite sand, asbestos, organic fiber, etc.) to mix the emulsoid obtained from silicic acid or silicates as a mineral one Glue works. The mass obtained in this way is after this process by removing the Dispersant hardened in any manner previously described.

For the production of artificial masses of more vitreous Naturally, only fully gelatinized silicate can be used.
