It is known to provide flexible electrical conductors by pushing on beads of insulating material isolate, in particular a large area of application has found the use of glass beads. These glass beads essentially only have the task of providing what is required Maintain distance between the conductor and neighboring bodies while the electrical insulation is brought about by the layer of air held mn the conductor. Known is also the application of mica for purposes of isolation in all those cases in which other insulation materials, especially air insulation, fail; flexible insulation accordingly The pearl insulation has so far not been formed from mica, probably because the excellent electrical properties of mica have always led to the

So one has z. B. Bolt insulated in such a way that one mica washers on at first they lined up loosely, but then pressed these discs together to form a solid tube.
According to the invention, a flexible insulation is now thereby achieved through the use of mica ίο made that one on the conductor to be insulated, z. B. a wire, a strand, a ribbon, Natural mica disks, in particular round mica disks, in such strength as they are through the usual shaping work, mainly by punching, can be obtained, and without that they have previously been united to form thicker platelets, perhaps by gluing them together, tight, but still loosely lined up, so that they, together with the air between them, the insulation and affect the natural flexibility of the conductor only to a small extent. In this way a flexible conductor is obtained, which can even approximate other conductive bodies at will wound on conductive cores or drawn into as conductive pipes, and its Isolation is only determined by the air gap defined by the mica washers, because the isolation of the mica even under the most unfavorable conditions, especially also in the heat, is greater than the insulation of the corresponding air gap. This will make the Head ideally suited to heating conductors. The property of mica, in the case of mechanical Overuse only to split, if necessary to buckle, but not like other inorganic ones Insulating materials, especially glass, to shatter, combined with the fact that these Cleavage is harmless, since the mica does not act as an insulation, it enables the Pulling wire into pipes, or otherwise - theoretically without play - sheathing and sheathing it to bend in this sheath with a small radius or even to kink sharply. As a result of high heating, between 400 and 700 °, which occurs with the heating wires, is the use All insulating materials that can be used as spacers in other cases are not possible, since glass at these temperatures inevitably jumps immediately, but organic bodies char, unpleasant Evolve fumes and become electrical conductors. Knows all of these grievances Mica does not appear, because it can withstand temperatures of up to 800 °, does not warp, not jumps and remains unchanged in its electrical properties. One is against it able to pull the wire, insulated according to the invention with mica washers, into tubes and to wind up to spiral or other shaped radiators, e.g. B. the known Manufacture immersion heaters from it.
Die Abbildung zeigt eine Ausführungsform der Erfindung:The figure shows an embodiment of the invention:
1. ist der zu isolierende, hier als Litze dargestellte Leiter, der in diesem Beispiel als Heizdraht verwendet werden soll.1. is the one to be isolated, shown here as a stranded wire Conductor to be used as a heating wire in this example.
2. are mica discs of natural thickness, i.e. around 0.1 to 0.4 mm thick, with a so large that they can be easily lined up on the wire. For example, can For a strand with a diameter of 1 mm, an inner hole of 1.5 to 3 mm is used. Of the The outer diameter is determined by the manufacturing requirements and is about to here Assumed 7 mm to 8 mm. This is about this role of mica washers formed in this way Tube 3 drawn, the inside diameter of which must of course be slightly larger than the outside diameter of the mica discs, about 7 mm to 9 mm, despite the mutual displacement to allow the mica discs to be drawn in easily. This tube is generally be a soft metal tube which can be crimped around the insulated conductor like that Sheaths of the so-called sheathed wires or tubular wires; but it can also be a completely closed one Be a tube into which the fully insulated conductor is drawn. The lower end of the Sheathed wire formed in this way has already become a spiral with a clear diameter in the drawing shown curled up by about 30 mm.
Man könnte z. This type of insulation is not limited to single-core wires. One could e.g. B. for three-phase radiators Provide the panes with three holes and pull all three heating lines into a common pipe, it can also be seen it is not necessary that all mica discs have a sufficient diameter, in order to act as distancing, it is sufficient that such discs with others alternate of smaller diameter, which in turn only need to serve the Keep spacer washers at a suitable length.
