Description

When sorting a flotation z. B. consisting of two differently disperse solids existing substance mixture essentially run three physical processes side by side. These are:
the bubble generation,
the transport and attachment of the bubbles to the particles of a solid component and
the separation of the non-blistered particles of one component from the blistered particles of the other component.

In a conventional flotation cell, they run physiologically calic processes (stages) largely side by side in a single container. For a few years now one tries to adapt them better to the respective special tasks, not side by side, but to run largely one after the other. This means that the boundary conditions for the optimal implementation of all three Processes are better adapted to the respective task can.

The invention relates to the last stage, the separation. It is believed that the first two processes of Bubble generation as well as the transport and deposition of the  Bubbles on the hydrophobized particles of a solid component a multi-phase flotation suspension was generated. In the The last stage of the process is the separation into bubbles occupied particles, the lighter first component, and the non-blistered particles, the heavier second Component.

For this separation in the prior art both in one Flotation cell, as well as in sedimentation chambers under heavy force-induced buoyancy of the particles the bubbles adhering to one component (first component), and the weight of the bubble-free particles (second component) used. Bubbles and adhering particles rise to the suspension surface and are removed with the overflow while sediment the bubble-free particles to the bottom of the chamber and then cleared out. It is a swimming Sink process in counterflow arrangement, in which the speed the separation and thus the volume or mass throughput on the size of the particles to be separated, d. H. their sinkge speed or the size of the bubbles and their climb speed depends. Because in the laminar flow area both the particle sink rate and the bubble Rate of climb proportional to the square of their size change leads to a decrease in their average size on the Half to a throughput reduction to a quarter. Separation and mass throughput are directly linked.

In the past few years, the requirements for sorting constantly growing. For one, z. B. waxed ever finer ores and thus finer particles float. Second is the aim is to use flotation to separate bacteria from bioreactors. The trend towards ever finer Particles, but also the trend towards using flotation Mass products, such as B. the flotation of organic sludge has led to considerations, the previously used physical Leave separation processes and use other techniques.

For example, attempts to flee have become known force separation in hydrocyclones. It has however, showed that the desired separation even with moderate Throughput is only partially successful and the sorting sharpness is low is.

From DE-OS 27 27 398 the flotation is weak Centrifugal force field in a stationary, cylindrical or conical, vertically arranged container known in the the flotation suspension mixture tangentially initiated and the flotation residue centrally, axially out will wear. For the discharge of the floating substances in A calm zone is one, the upper, open container overflow channel surrounding the rim and one from the bottom to the Pipe protruding from the top of the container and open at the top intended. Because of the tangen taking place in the lower area tial supply forms an ascending vertebral stream tion, which is characterized by a high pressure gradient net. The characteristic of this type of flow is into the top of the container, tube designed for the discharge of the flotation residue moved in, so that for the selectivity of the flotation adverse effects are eliminated. The one with the selek Airborne particles loaded particles follow that through the Centrifugal field generated radially inward pressure gradient. They are subject to increasing ent at the same time distance from the lateral surface of the container an increasing Buoyancy, so that with appropriate choice of bubble size and particle size the floatable substances by a wide margin reach the surface in front of the discharge pipe. The sharpness of the Sorting and throughput are without separations Application of the centrifugal field increases, but fulfills that Not enough expectations.

The invention has for its object the sorting sharpness and the mass flow rate of centrifugal separation To increase flotation suspension mixture.

A centrifugal force separation method that solves this problem is in Claim 1 and its subclaims characterized. A particularly suitable device for carrying it out with their configurations specified in the further claims.

Surprisingly, it has been shown that it is concerned with the benen centrifugation method and the proposed centrifugation device is possible, the disadvantages of the previous centrifugal force Eliminate separation in a hydrocyclone. It showed itself Lich that one with sufficient mass throughput led separation, especially in the fine grain area, with the new Method and the associated device through a cross flow separation in the centrifugal force.

An embodiment of a device according to the invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing that this in Longitudinal section shows.

The flotation suspension mixture is gently fed into a bowl-shaped, widening towards the edge centrifuge rotor 1 on the bottom 2 in the region of the axis of rotation, spread on the bottom 2 of the centrifuge rotor 1 as gently while avoiding turbulence and accelerated in the circumferential direction. It rises on the inner surface of the jacket 3 of the centrifuge rotor 1 in the form of a thin suspension layer 4 , in which the cross-flow separation takes place. The blistered particles of the first component migrate radially inward to the suspension surface 5 under the action of the buoyancy forces in the centrifugal force field, while the bubble-free particles of the second component migrate radially outward under the action of the centrifugal force to the inner surface of the jacket 3 of the centrifuge rotor 1 . Both components accumulate in the layers of the suspension layer 4 which are radially the most distant from one another. At the edge of the centrifuge rotor 1 , the two layers can be separated from one another by a fixed or preferably with rotating circular cutting edge 6 and can be derived in two suspension streams, one of which predominantly contains the first component 7 with bubbles, the other preferably contains the second component 8 free of bubbles.

The device shown has a fixed circular cutting edge 6 fastened to a central collecting container 9 and an outer double-walled funnel 10 . The solution which is technically more favorable in terms of process, since the solution to avoid turbulence in the suspension layer 4 should, however, be equipped with a rotating cutting edge.

While it is relatively unproblematic to peel the first component through the cutting edge 6 , since the hydrophobized solid and the bubbles float on or near the liquid surface, the slipping transport of the second component on the inner surface of the jacket of the centrifugal rotor requires additional measures . As a circumferential surface to ensure proper material transport, preferably a downwardly open and downwardly extending approximately frustoconical, rotationally symmetrical lateral surface of a bowl-shaped rotor should be used. However, by choosing the correct opening angle depending on the material and by choosing a suitable inner jacket surface that promotes slipping, i.e. corresponding jacket or jacket covering materials or corrugations that promote material transport and acceleration in the circumferential direction, and / or by a vibration superimposed in the axial direction, you can, however design and operate the centrifuge rotor so that the separation takes place in the desired sense. The jacket surface should have a lower coefficient of friction in the axial direction than in the circumferential direction. On the one hand, the circumferential acceleration, which only enables the desired radial movement, and on the other hand the axial sliding can be improved.

The rotor axis is preferably vertical, and the centrifuge rotor is open at the top or bottom; however, it can also be arranged at a different angle and even horizontally. A particularly advantageous arrangement is shown in the drawing. The two layers separated from one another by the cutting edge 6 are discharged separately. The inner layer with the first component 7 is collected in the central container 9 while the radially outer layer with the second component 8 with the bubble-free particles is derived via a double funnel 10 . The axis of rotation can be arranged horizontally or at another angle without affecting the separation, if it is ensured that the suspension layer 4 is in contact with the inner lateral surface in every operating state under the effect of the centrifugal forces prevailing during operation.

The advantage of the separation described is there conventional gravity process in that the separation into the Components due to the acceleration figure z = a / g higher ascent or descent speeds at the same Layer thicknesses in a time shorter by the same factor he follows. In addition, this is further reduced because it is low Layer thicknesses (at least 0.5 to 1 mm), d. H. very short separations ways that can be used. Compared to the separation in Hydro Cyclones will significantly increase the separation or sorting sharpness and a due to the relatively high transport speed in the spread suspension layer of increased volume or mass throughput, which is only economical Centrifugal force separation in the fine grain area enables.

The approximately radial rate of ascent or descent of the both components and the mass flow rate depend on the selected centrifugal acceleration. The latter can be  however regardless of the inclination of the mantle of the Centrifuge drum to the axis of rotation through the angle alpha put.

In order to feed the centrifuge rotor either through a central hollow shaft or, when the bowl-shaped rotor is open at the bottom, through a tube or a channel from above, the flotation suspension is fed as gently as possible and, on the other hand, is accelerated in the circumferential direction even with small radii A swirl device 11 made of thin sheet metal is expediently installed in the feed pipe. In addition to the axial outflow of the suspension mixture ver preventing central baffle plate 12 for further acceleration in the central radius area, a blade ring 13 is provided from straight or curved in an approximately radial direction, the promotion of the suspension supporting blades.

The method according to the invention for separating a flotation suspension mixture into a blistered, disperse first Solid component and a bubble-free, disperse second Solid component causes the two components after a the detachment of bubbles from the hydrophobized Solid particle-preventing, gentle feeding of the Flotation suspension mixture, in a thin, at least about 0.5 to 1 mm thick, rotationally symmetrical, flowing direction-expanding suspension layer is spread. Under the action of buoyancy and acceleration forces this is compo by cross-flow separation in the centrifugal force field transferred in two layers. On the surface, d. H. the inside of the suspension layer accumulate blistered particles on (first component) and on the Underside of the layer, d. H. the outside of the suspension layer the bubble-free particles (second component). The outer and the inner layer are used to separate the components separated from each other (peeled off) and the components of the two streams caught separately.
