Abstract

An endoscope has an operating section (10) and an insertion section (12) which extends from the operating section (10). The insertion section itself is formed from a flexible tube (16) which extends from the operating section, as well as a terminal tube (18) at the distal end of the flexible tube, and a terminal piece (20) at the distal end of the terminal tube. The terminal tube is moved in a remotely controlled fashion from the operating section by means of an operating wire (46). A guide spiral (40) made from a spirally wound litz wire (42) extends through the flexible tube, and guide rings (52) are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of the terminal tube. The operating wire is formed from individual litz wires (48) and extends from the operating section through the guide spiral and the guide rings to the terminal piece. The individual wires of the guide spiral and of the operating wire are covered with coatings (44, 50) of soft metal. <IMAGE>
