Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an element with several ordered fiber optic wires attached to each other, between with a mechanical connection.
From DE-OS 23 55 854 is an element with several Optical fibers are known, in which the with a coating (coating) provided fibers on a carrier film arranged side by side and there z. B. by Hot melt adhesives are kept. With bending or torsion However, such arrangements do not allow length compensation for the fiber, which has the consequence that the outside attacking mechanical forces in pretty strong Dimensions also achieve what the optical fiber whose properties can impair.
AS 25 08 825 is a stranding element for optical Cable known in which the coated fibers are loose are housed in an approximately box-shaped container, the individual fibers through partition walls of the box be separated from each other. A disadvantage of this The arrangement is in particular that the box-shaped support structure has a relatively large space requirement.
The present invention is based on the object to further develop an element of the type mentioned at the beginning, that on the one hand as compact and space-saving as possible Structure is achieved and on the other hand a flexible arrangement is obtained, in which the optical fibers no excessive stress due to mechanical Can experience forces. According to the invention this object is achieved in that the optical fibers a thin coating on the outside Have sliding layer on which a solid outer shell is attached and that between these outer shells Optical fiber wires made the mechanical connection is.
As a result of the thin sliding layer, especially compressive ones Forces the z. B. in the torsion of the element occur with the orderly optical fibers, not go straight to the optical fibers. This is due to the fact that the mechanical Connection of the outer shells inevitably building up mechanical forces (e.g. during stranding or splicing or in other processing operations) not or only to a very small extent via the sliding layer to the Can penetrate fiber. Local fluctuations in force are the same from.
Verwendet werden zweckmäßig Stoffe mit E-Modul ≧ 1500 N/mm2.With the arrangement of the optical waveguides according to the invention, it is possible to work with only very thin coatings of the optical waveguides, ie to use the conventional coated optical waveguide fibers which are otherwise not readily suitable for such ribbon line structures. For example, with a fiber diameter of 125 microns, the coating can be kept so thin that an outer diameter of 250 microns results (220-280 microns). It is then expedient to provide the outer shell with an inner diameter between 300 and 400 μm and to select the outer diameter of the outer shell between 560 and 800 μm. In other words, the sliding layer only needs to be about 40 to 100 microns thick to achieve the necessary mechanical decoupling. On the other hand, the decoupling would be attempted by using a relatively thick and very soft primary coating. then there would be a certain improvement in the padding of the optical fiber against local deformations, but no longitudinal compensation of length differences and forces. On the other hand, specially coated glass fibers would have to be used, ie, for example, in which the outer diameter of the primary coating is approximately 600 µm and in which the primary coating must be considerably softer than in the method described (≦ ωτ 1N / mm 2 instead of 10N / mm 2 ) . The solution according to the invention also has the advantage that at the same time a limited lateral deformation of this outer shell is permitted without the fiber itself being deformed directly. In this way, optimal protection of the fiber optic fibers is ensured both in the cable production as well as in laying and splicing work and in the operating state. A very hard injection molding material is expediently provided for the material of the outer shell, in particular an automatic polyamide, a polycarbonate or another suitable polyester. Substances with a modulus of elasticity ≧ 1500 N / mm 2 are expediently used.

Fig. 6 shows a schematic representation of a device for producing elements according to the invention and a cable.
In Fig. 1 3 fiber optic conductors LA 1 , LA 2 and LA 3 are arranged side by side, in practice much more, for example 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 such wires can be combined to form a structure similar to that of a ribbon cable (element EL ). The mechanical connection of the individual fiber optic wires LA 1 to LA 3 is such. B. produced by a film FL , on which the optical fibers are held by an adhesive material AH 1 , AH 2 , AH 3 . Since such ribbon structures are subjected to mechanical forces during the stranding or during the splicing or laying (for example by twisting, compressing, bending or the like), it is important that the forces which are sometimes considerable due to the greater lateral expansion do not reach the optical waveguide fibers LW 1 , LW 2 and LW 3 advance.
For this purpose, the optical waveguide wires LA 1 to LA 3 are constructed in a special way, namely to the effect that the actual optical fiber fibers LW 1 , LW 2 and LW 3 are initially protected in a known manner by a primary coating (coating) CT 1 , CT 2 and CT 3 . In contrast to known constructions, however, the mechanical connection of the optical waveguides combined to form the element EL is not produced directly via the coating CT 1 to CT 3 or secondary coatings applied above it, but instead mechanical decoupling is provided. This consists in applying a sliding layer GS 1 to GS 3 on the coating CT 1 to CT 3 , which only has to be kept very thin (wall thickness between 20 and 100 µm) and which is made of a soft paste-like medium (e.g. consists of thixotropic oils). On the outside, this arrangement is closed by a tubular shell OH 1 , OH 2 and OH 3 applied by extrusion, which consists of hard injection molding material. As a result, a large part of the compressive and compressive forces occurring when the element EL is twisted or under other loads is already absorbed by the outer shells OH 1 to OH 3 . The remaining smaller proportions of forces that still reach the inside via this tough, rigid shell OH 1 to OH 3 are absorbed by the sliding layer GS 1 to GS 3 , pressure and compressive force differences being able to equalize in the longitudinal direction. The dreaded microbending of the fibers is almost impossible. In this way, it is possible to use and use the element EL shown in many ways without fear that there will be undesirable mechanical impairments of the optical fibers LW 1 to LW 3 .
The connection of the individual fiber optic wires LA 1 to LA 3 with each other does not have to be done in the form shown. For example, it is also possible to glue the outer shells OH 1 to OH 3 directly (which, however, results in a somewhat lower mechanical mobility). Instead of a film and an adhesive (as shown in FIG. 2), it is also possible to use UV-reactive coatings which adhere on one side or coatings BL which envelop the wires, as is shown in FIG. 2.
In principle, in the case of a continuous adhesive layer (unlike in FIG. 1), the carrier film FL can be removed again after the optical fiber conductors have been glued together, ie it only serves as a temporary base until the fiber optic conductors LA 1 to LA 3 have been completely bonded to one another. In this context, a circumferential film tape can also be used, which is applied until the adhesive has hardened (e.g. hot-melt adhesive or UV-reactive adhesive) and then removed again.
For the production, the optical waveguide wires (preferably 6 to 10 wires) are applied to the film FL in an orderly manner. If the film FL is wide enough, several groups can be glued and glued together at a distance in parallel, ie several such elements EL can be produced in parallel if the film is subsequently cut accordingly. If the foil remains on the core groups, the best way to cut the tapes is to glue them on, in the area of appropriate gaps between the individual element groups. A plurality of individual strip line-like elements can be guided one above the other and can be accommodated together loosely within a common jacket SH , as shown in FIG. 3. The individual, e.g. B. analogous to Fig. 1 constructed band-shaped elements are designated with EL 1 , EL 2 to ELn . Since with this solution each coated fiber has a core diameter of the order of only about 0.5 mm, the packing density is particularly high and at the same time the mechanical-optical behavior is better than in the case of known arrangements and is also largely independent of the adhesives used.
As a result of the good mechanical properties and the insensitivity, the elements according to the invention can also be arranged in a different way, for example on a central core ZE (made of tensile material). An arrangement of this type is shown in cross section in FIG. 4, the individual optical waveguide wires being designated LAA 1 to LAAn and each having the structure described in FIG. 1. A large stranding angle (greater than 85 °) is expediently used and advantageously stranded using the SZ method (ie with periodically changing stranding directions). The mechanical connection of the adjacent optical waveguide wires LAA 1 to LAAn can be brought about by gluing, ie for example a hot-melt adhesive strip is applied transversely to the longitudinal axis of the optical element ELA . This gluing is expediently carried out at the stranding point, ie the adhesive device can be integrated with the stranding nipple or arranged in the vicinity thereof. The optical transmission element ELA thus formed has particularly good bending properties.
Since it is necessary to connect the individual fiber optic wires LAA 1 to LAAn z. B. for splice purposes again from the core element ZE , this is expediently treated beforehand in an appropriate dosage with a release agent (for example paraffin or silicone oil). As a result, the individual adjacent wire sheaths of the optical waveguide wires LAA 1 to LAAn adhere to one another, but they are not firmly connected to the core element ZE . In this connection, it is sufficient to two of the buffered optical fibers color coded according to the outside to design, wherein the separation of the bonded bundle is possible at defined sites and leaves the structure extend in a plane, similar to the arrangement in Fig. 1. The Zentralemelent ZE may suitably for attaching a bundle splice element can be used, whereby longitudinal tensile forces can be kept away from the splice points.
In the arrangement according to FIG. 5, n of the optical elements EL shown in FIG. 1 are each wound together in a ring, the associated film FL advantageously being located on the inside. The ring-shaped elements EL 1 to ELn thus formed are placed on a central core ZE 1 and can be used, each individually , e.g. B. attach with an adhesive to the central core ZE 1 . During splicing, each of the elements EL 1 to ELn can be pulled off from the central core ZE 1 and returned to the structure according to FIG. 1 by plane alignment. This means that a splicing process with flat splice connectors can then also be carried out in a simple manner.
Das am Ausgang der Maschine MF erhaltene, die Kabelseele bildende Paket KS wird durch einen nachfolgenden Extruder EX mit dem Mantel (analog SH in Fig. 2) versehen und steht dann als fertiges Kabel KSK zur v Verfügung.1 constructed buffered optical fibers LA 1 at the manufacturing facility of FIG. 6 are shown in FIG. Attached to the LAN to the end coils SP 1 to SPn and run into a laying and gluing machine MA 1 showing the fixation of the optical fiber wires LA 1 to LAn on a slide FL (corresponding to FIG. 1) or on a central core (corresponding to ZE in FIG. 4). In the latter case, a corresponding SZ stranding device with an adhesive arrangement must also be provided in the machine MA 1 . The elements obtained at the output of parallel-working machine MA 1 through MAn EL 1 to ELn are combined in a further common machine MF, where the desired overall structure (eg. B. analogous to FIG. 3 or FIG. 5) is generated. Here too, the individual elements EL 1 to ELn can be stranded together and a core filling compound can also be introduced, which ensures the longitudinal tightness of the cable. The package KS obtained at the output of the machine MF and forming the cable core is provided with the jacket (analogous to SH in FIG. 2) by a subsequent extruder EX and is then available as a finished cable KSK .
If the stranding point in the SZ stranding almost coincides with the spray nipple of the subsequent extruder EX , or both are very close to each other, then the application of an additional holding helix to the packet-shaped cable core KS becomes superfluous. At the same time, a train spinning in SZ form, e.g. B. can be applied with a double SZ machine. It is essential in the case of filled cables that the core filling compound is compatible with the hot-melt adhesive used, ie it does not dissolve or swell.
