Abstract

The invention relates to a process for producing an insulating glazing consisting of at least two panes, in which the panes are washed, brought into their final position with respect to one another by interposing a surrounding spacer covered with a sealing material and in which the assembly is pressed with the application of pressure, the arrangement is introduced into a chamber and there the pane interspace is filled with a special gas and then the insulating glazing thus formed is sealed with an adhesive. To achieve reliable filling, at least one filling hole (37) is provided in the spacer and the assembly (24) thus formed is first evacuated either before or after the sealing after pressing in a vacuum chamber (21) and then flooded with the special gas. Subsequently the filling hole (37) is sealed and the insulating glazing or the region thereof around the filling hole (37) is sealed. Alternatively, before pressing, the assembly is evacuated in the vacuum chamber (21), feeding a gap between a pane (2) and the spacer, and subsequently flooded with the special gas. Subsequently the pressing and sealing are carried out. A polyisobutylene is used as sealant or a thio-elastomer as adhesive. <IMAGE>
