Abstract

In a switching device (10) for internal lighting and door monitoring in motor vehicles, which contains an all-or-nothing relay (11) and a control contact (13) in the control circuit of the relay and, furthermore, has a current path, which goes via the control contact, for a display circuit, a PTC thermistor (20) is provided in the display circuit in order to protect the control contact from a destructive overcurrent when the terminals (1, 2, 3, 4) of the switching device are wrongly connected, or when short circuits exist between the external leads. In an advantageous embodiment, a PTC thermistor (21) which has a current-limiting effect in the event of malfunction is also connected in the load current path of the switching device. <IMAGE>
