Wood splitters of the usual design are equipped with a drive motor with a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic ram with a splitting wedge, as well as pressure hoses and an oil tank, or are operated from a vehicle that has the appropriate connections.

The invention specified in claim 1 is based on the problem of creating a wood splitter that is simple and robust at the same time and can be used in every household where the problem of splitting wood arises.

This problem is solved with the features listed in claim 1.

The invention achieves the creation of a device for splitting wood that can be used comfortably while sitting down and that enables the rapid splitting of firewood that has previously been cut to length.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is that the switch (9) is mounted in a protected manner and the cables with the connector plug are routed to the rear, thus making damage almost impossible and the entire device mobile.

The wood splitter consists of the frame (6+11) with wheels (7), gear motor 220/3 80 V (1+2) or (combustion engine and gearbox) and splitting cone (3) with external thread, a support plate (4) with pressure spring (5) an on, off, reversing switch (9), as well as a cable with a plug for 220 or 380 V.

The support plate (4) is arranged disproportionately parallel to the splitting cone (3) in order to prevent the wood from being crushed between the support plate (4) and the splitting cone (3). For the same purpose, the support plate (4) is spring-mounted.

How it works

By gently pressing the block of wood across the grain onto the rotating splitting cone (3) which has a thread on it, the block of wood is automatically pulled onto the cone, which thickens towards the back and is therefore split effortlessly. The support plate (4) serves as a support.

The "reverse" switch position is only needed if the block of wood is very overgrown and is very difficult to split so that you can start again.

Environmental considerations were of crucial importance when developing the device for splitting wood.
