The invention relates to a halter with several components, such as headpiece, noseband, cheek pieces, throat strap and chin strap.

A halter that is attached to the head of riding animals, preferably horses, is used to tie up or lead the animals. Common halters are made of relatively inelastic material. In particular, if the animal moves backwards in a panic, this causes the moving animal to come to a sudden stop, which can lead to injuries to the animal.

It is known to tie an animal wearing a halter to a fixed position using a so-called panic hook and a leash. The panic hook releases when a certain load is exceeded, thus releasing the animal. The disadvantage here is that the panic hook only works when the load is suddenly applied, but not when the force increases more slowly. It also often happens that a panic hook does not work at the crucial moment, so that despite using a panic hook, in many cases the animal can still be injured, especially to the head and joints.

The invention is based on the object of improving a halter of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the risk of injury to an animal wearing the halter is reduced.

To achieve this object, the invention provides that the tensile elasticity of at least one component of the halter is designed differently from the tensile elasticity of other components. In particular, it can be provided that the tensile elasticity of at least one of the components that is particularly subject to tensile stress in the event of a panic-like backward movement of a riding or draft animal wearing the halter, tied up or led, is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components.

The advantage here is that if the tensile load exceeds a certain level, the halter can be slipped off the animal's head due to the elasticity of individual components, which frees the animal and eliminates the risk of injury if the animal suddenly stops. Another advantage is that, unlike a rigid halter, the halter creates a slowly increasing counterpressure. In many cases, the gradually increasing counterpressure calms an animal wearing the halter, which on the one hand prevents injuries and on the other hand prevents the halter from being slipped off.

The components that need to be made more elastic than the other components are primarily the noseband and/or the headpiece and/or the chin strap and/or the cheek pieces.

The invention is explained in more detail below using the embodiment shown in the drawing. They show:

Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the head of a horse wearing a halter according to the invention;

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the halter according to Fig. 1.

The halter 1 shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 has a plurality of components, namely a noseband 2, chin straps 3 and 4, cheek pieces 5, 6, an intermediate piece 7, throat straps 8, 9 and a headpiece 10. A buckle used to close the headpiece 10 is designated by the reference number 11. A pin is designated by 12.

In the embodiment shown, the components shown in dashed lines, namely the noseband 2 and the headpiece 10, are more elastic than the other components. The other components are made of leather, for example, while the elastic components are made of rubber-elastic material with a higher elasticity.

A horse wearing the halter 1 is tied up in a fixed position using a (not shown) leash that can be attached to an eyelet 14 or to buckles 15, 16 in the area of the noseband 2 or the chin straps 3, 4. If the horse 13 moves backwards in a panic, for example in the direction of arrow A, the force that occurs on the halter after the leash is tightened results in the elastic components 2 and 10 slowly stretching. The horse 13 therefore does not experience the counterpressure that occurs when the leash is tightened suddenly, but gradually, which in many cases leads to the horse calming down. If the horse does not calm down, however, it can slip off the halter 1 due to the elastic design of the noseband 2 and the headpiece 10, which releases the horse and then in most cases stops.

Claims (6)

Protection claims 1. Halter with several components, such as headpiece, noseband, cheek pieces, throat strap and chin strap, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of at least one component (2, 10) of the halter (1) is designed differently from the tensile elasticity of other components (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). 2. Halter according to claim 1, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of at least one of the components (2) which is particularly subjected to tensile stress in the event of a panic-like backward movement of a riding or draft animal (13) wearing, tied or led the halter (1) is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components. 3. Halter according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of the noseband (2) is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components. 4. Halter according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of the chin straps (3, 4) is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components. 5. Halter according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of the headpiece (10) is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components. 6. Halter according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the tensile elasticity of the cheek pieces (5, 6) is greater than the tensile elasticity of the other components.
