Abstract

Marking fluid, esp. for oriental carpets comprises a 1:1 mixt. of a plastic dispersion which penetrates well into textile materials, and a liq. dye which becomes visible under UV light. The plastic dispersion is pref. an acrylic ester dispersion, opt. mixed with a water-dilutable melamine resin. The liq. dye is pref. a diethanolamine prod. in liq. form. The compsns. are easily applied to carpet materials and become invisible after about 5 secs. They cause no harm e.g. to valuable oriental carpets and after drying for a few days have excellent durability and wash resistance. The marking compsns. can be stored at 0-40 deg.C in glass or plastic bottles until required for use. When required, the identifying marks can be made visible e.g. with a 160 watt UV lamp.
