Abstract

The turbine stator is made of refractory/ceramic material comprises an inner(2) and an outer(4) ring linked by a set of blade(6). These may be formed integrally with either ring, with each alternately, or separately. Material is pref. from the group containing silicon nitride, -carbide, -oxynitride, -aluminiumoxy-nitride, aluminium oxide; or mixtures thereof. Blade free ends are positively located by beading(8), pref. enclosing the entire blade outline, formed integrally with the ring in question by building up after assembly in partially fired condition. An expansion gap(10) around the blade end is ensured by covering the ends with a 0.2 mm layer of boron nitride, or other substance not reactive with the stator material under final firing conditions.
